Temporal assembly patterns of microbial communities in three parallel bioreactors treating low-concentration coking wastewater with differing carbon source concentrations

Carbon source is an important factor of biological treatment systems, the effects of which on their temporal community assembly patterns are not sufficiently understood *** this study, the temporal dynamics and driving mechanisms of the communities in three parallel bioreactors for low-concentration coking wastewater(CWW) treatment with differing carbon source concentrations(S0 with no glucose addition, S1 with 200 mg/L glucose addition and S2 with 400 mg/L glucose addition) were comprehensively studied. Highthroughput sequencing and bioinformatics analyses including network analysis and Infer Community Assembly Mechanisms by Phylogenetic bin-based null model(iCAMP) were used. The communities of three systems showed turnover rates of 0.0029~0.0034 every 15days. Network analysis results showed that the S0 network showed higher positive correlation proportion(71.43%) and clustering coefficient(0.33), suggesting that carbon source shortage in S0 promoted interactions and cooperation of microbes. The neutral community model analysis showed that the immigration rate increased from 0.5247 in S0 to 0.6478in S2. The iCAMP analysis results showed that drift(45.89%) and homogeneous selection(31.68%) dominated in driving the assembly of all the investigated microbial *** contribution of homogeneous selection increased with the increase of carbon source concentrations, from 27.92% in S0 to 36.08% in S2. The OTUs participating in aerobic respiration and tricarboxylic acid(TCA) cycle were abundant among the bins mainly affected by deterministic processes, while those related to the metabolism of refractory organic pollutants in CWW such as alkanes, benzenes and phenols were abundant in the bins dominated by stochastic processes.

Perfluorooctane sulfonate promotes the migration of colorectal cancer cells by inducing epithelial-mesenchymal transition

The potential association between colorectal cancer(CRC)and environmental pollutants is *** studies have found that some perfluoroalkyl acids,including perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS),induced colorectal tumors in experimental animals and promoted the migration of and invasion by CRC cells in vitro,but the underlying mechanism is ***,we investigated the effects of PFOS on the proliferation and migration of CRC cells and the potentialmechanisms involving activating the PI3K/Akt-NF-κB signal pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT).It was found that PFOS promoted the growth andmigration of HCT116 cells at non-cytotoxic concentrations and increased the mRNA expression of the migration-related angiogenic cytokines vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and interleukin-8(IL-8).In a mechanistic investigation,the up-stream signal pathway PI3K/Akt-NF-κB was activated by PFOS,and the process was suppressed by LY294002(PI3K/Akt inhibitor)and BAY11-7082(NF-κB inhibitor)respectively,leading to less proliferation of HCT116 ***,matrix metalloproteinases(MMP)and EMT-related markers were up-regulated after PFOS exposure,and were also suppressed respectively by LY294002 and ***,the up-regulation of EMT markers was suppressed by a MMP inhibitor *** together,our results indicated that PFOS promotes colorectal cancer cell migration and proliferation by activating the PI3K/Akt-NF-κB signal pathway and epithelial-mesenchymal *** could be a potential toxicological mechanism of PFOS-induced malignant development of colorectal cancer.

With the rapid development of mobile communication technology and intelligent applications,the quantity of mobile devices and data traffic in networks have been growing exponentially,which poses a great burden to networks and brings huge challenge to servicing user *** caching,which utilizes the storage and computation resources of the edge to bring resources closer to end users,is a promising way to relieve network burden and enhance user *** this paper,we aim to survey the edge caching techniques from a comprehensive and systematic *** first present an overview of edge caching,summarizing the three key issues regarding edge caching,i.e.,where,what,and how to cache,and then introducing several significant caching *** then carry out a detailed and in-depth elaboration on these three issues,which correspond to caching locations,caching objects,and caching strategies,*** particular,we innovate on the issue“what to cache”,interpreting it as the classification of the“caching objects”,which can be further classified into content cache,data cache,and service ***,we discuss several open issues and challenges of edge caching to inspire future investigations in this research area.

Regional 3D geological modeling along metro lines based on stacking ensemble model

This paper presents a regional 3D geological modeling method based on the stacking ensemble technique to overcome the challenges of sparse borehole data in large-scale linear underground *** proposed method transforms the 3D geological modeling problem into a stratigraphic property classification problem within a subsurface space grid cell *** data is pre-processed and trained using stacking method with five different machine learning *** resulting modelled regional cells are then classified,forming a regional 3D grid geological model.A case study for an area of 324 km2 along Xuzhou metro lines is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed *** study shows an overall prediction accuracy of 85.4%.However,the accuracy for key stratigraphy layers influencing the construction risk,such as karst carve strata,is only 4.3%due to the limited borehole *** address this issue,an oversampling technique based on the synthetic minority oversampling technique(SMOTE)algorithm is *** technique effectively increases the number of sparse stratigraphic samples and significantly improves the prediction accuracy for karst caves to 65.4%.Additionally,this study analyzes the impact of sampling distance on model *** is found that a lower sampling interval results in higher prediction accuracy,but also increases computational resources and time ***,in this study,an optimal sampling distance of 1 m is chosen to balance prediction accuracy and computation ***,the number of geological strata is found to have a negative effect on prediction *** mitigate this,it is recommended to merge less significant stratigraphy layers,reducing computation *** key strata layers,such as karst caves,which have a significant impact on construction risk,further onsite sampling or oversampling using the SMOTE technique is recommended.

The flesh color of pummelo(Citrus maxima)fruits is highly diverse and largely depends on the level of carotenoids,which are beneficial to human *** is vital to investigate the regulatory network of carotenoid biosynthesis to improve the carotenoid content in ***,the molecular mechanism underlying carotenoid accumulation in pummelo is not fully *** this study,we identified a novel histone methyltransferase gene,CgSDG40,involved in carotenoid regulation by analyzing the flesh transcriptome of typical white-fleshed pummelo,red-fleshed pummelo and extreme-colored F1 hybrids from a segregated pummelo *** of CgSDG40 corresponded to flesh color change and was highly coexpressed with ***,CgSDG40 and CgPSY1 are located physically adjacent to each other on the chromosome in opposite directions,sharing a partially overlapping promoter *** localization analysis indicated that CgSDG40 localizes to the *** of CgSDG40 significantly increased the total carotenoid content in citrus calli relative to that in wild *** addition,expression of CgPSY1 was significantly activated in overexpression lines relative to wild *** together,our findings reveal a novel histone methyltransferase regulator,CgSDG40,involved in the regulation of carotenoid biosynthesis in citrus and provide new strategies for molecular design breeding and genetic improvement of fruit color and nutritional quality.

Flow Field Characteristics of Multi-Trophic Artificial Reef Based on Computation Fluid Dynamics

On the basis of computational fluid dynamics,the flow field characteristics of multi-trophic artificial reefs,including the flow field distribution features of a single reef under three different velocities and the effect of spacing between reefs on flow scale and the flow state,were *** indicate upwelling,slow flow,and eddy around a single *** velocity,height,and volume of upwelling in front of a single reef were positively correlated with inflow *** length and volume of slow flow increased with the increase in inflow *** were present both inside and backward,and vorticity was positively correlated with inflow *** between reefs had a minor influence on the maximum velocity and height of *** the increase in space from 0.5 L to 1.5 L(L is the reef lehgth),the length of slow flow in the front and back of the combined reefs increased *** the space was 2.0 L,the length of the slow flow *** four different spaces,eddies were present inside and at the back of each *** maximum vorticity was negatively correlated with space from 0.5 L to 1.5 L,but under 2.0 L space,the maximum vorticity was close to the vorticity of a single reef under the same inflow velocity.

An improved deep dilated convolutional neural network for seismic facies interpretation

With the successful application and breakthrough of deep learning technology in image segmentation,there has been continuous development in the field of seismic facies interpretation using convolutional neural *** intelligent and automated methods significantly reduce manual labor,particularly in the laborious task of manually labeling seismic ***,the extensive demand for training data imposes limitations on their wider *** overcome this challenge,we adopt the UNet architecture as the foundational network structure for seismic facies classification,which has demonstrated effective segmentation results even with small-sample training ***,we integrate spatial pyramid pooling and dilated convolution modules into the network architecture to enhance the perception of spatial information across a broader *** seismic facies classification test on the public data from the F3 block verifies the superior performance of our proposed improved network structure in delineating seismic facies *** analysis against the traditional UNet model reveals that our method achieves more accurate predictive classification results,as evidenced by various evaluation metrics for image ***,the classification accuracy reaches an impressive 96%.Furthermore,the results of seismic facies classification in the seismic slice dimension provide further confirmation of the superior performance of our proposed method,which accurately defines the range of different seismic *** approach holds significant potential for analyzing geological patterns and extracting valuable depositional information.

Direct CO_(2) hydrogenation offers an important strategy for promoting the global carbon balance,but high thermodynamic and kinetic stability of CO_(2) has restricted its applicability to only a handful of industrial ***,we introduce a proof-of-concept application of the electron-rich Pt surface to promote hydrogen donation for electron-rich MoC particles acting as hydrogen acceptors,thereby constructing hydrogen-rich surface of MoC active ***,the formed hydrogen-rich and electronrich surface could greatly decrease reaction activation energy to boost the efficient CO_(2) hydrogenation into formic acid over the MoC *** optimized MoC@NC/Pt-0.1(NC:nitrogen-doped carbon)catalyst exhibits a high turnover frequency(TOF)value of 1.2 h^(−1) at a lower temperature of 60℃and a TOF of 24.2 h^(−1) under standard reaction conditions widely used in the literature,exceeding 7 times of MoC@NC catalyst and surpassing the benchmark classical non-noble metal active center-based heterogeneous catalyst.

BACKGROUND Drug-induced liver injury(DIli)is one of the most common adverse events of medication use,and its incidence is ***,early detection of DIli is a crucial challenge due to a lack of biomarkers and noninvasive *** To identify salivary metabolic biomarkers of DIli for the future development of noninvasive diagnostic *** Saliva samples from 31 DIli patients and 35 healthy controls(HCs)were subjected to untargeted metabolomics using ultrahigh-pressure liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass *** analyses,including partial least squares-discriminant analysis modeling,t tests and weighted metabolite coexpression network analysis(WMCNA),were conducted to identify key differentially expressed metabolites(DEMs)and metabolite *** we utilized least absolute shrinkage and selection operato and random fores analyses for biomarker *** use of each metabolite and metabolite set to detect DIli was evaluated with area under the receiver operating characteristic *** We found 247 differentially expressed salivary metabolites between the DIli group and the HC *** WMCNA,we identified a set of 8 DEMs closely related to liver injury for further prediction ***,the distinct separation of DIli patients and HCs was achieved with five metabolites,namely,12-hydroxydodecanoic acid,3-hydroxydecanoic acid,tetradecanedioic acid,hypoxanthine,and inosine(area under the curve:0.733-1).CONCLUSION Salivary metabolomics revealed previously unreported metabolic alterations and diagnostic biomarkers in the saliva of DIli *** study may provide a potentially feasible and noninvasive diagnostic method for DIli,but further validation is needed.

Intelligent electronic devices(IEDs)are interconnected via communication networks and play pivotal roles in transmitting grid-related operational data and executing control *** the context of the heightened security challenges within smart grids,IEDs pose significant risks due to inherent hardware and software vulner-abilities,as well as the openness and vulnerability of communication *** grid security,distinct from traditional internet security,mainly relies on monitoring network security events at the platform layer,lacking an effective assessment mechanism for ***,we incorporate considerations for both cyber-attacks and physical faults,presenting security assessment indicators and methods specifically tailored for ***,we outline the security monitoring technology for IEDs,considering the necessary data sources for their security ***,we classify IEDs and establish a comprehensive security monitoring index system,incorporating factors such as running states,network traffic,and abnormal *** index system contains 18 indicators in 3 ***,we elucidate quantitative methods for various indicators and propose a hybrid security assessment method known as GRCW-hybrid,combining grey relational analysis(GRA),analytic hierarchy process(AHP),and entropy weight method(EWM).According to the proposed assessment method,the security risk level of IEDs can be graded into 6 levels,namely 0,1,2,3,4,and *** higher the level,the greater the security ***,we assess and simulate 15 scenarios in 3 categories,which are based on monitoring indicators and real-world situations encountered by *** results show that calculated security risk level based on the proposed assessment method are consistent with actual ***,the reasonableness and effectiveness of the proposed index system and assessment method are validated.
