Towards understanding twinning behavior near fracture surface in magnesium

Deformation twin is one of the most important strain accommodation mechanisms and ultimately influences the mechanical properties for magnesium and its ***,{1011}twin is usually thought to be closely related to the fracture or fatigue process of magnesium *** the present work,the characteristics of microstructure near fracture region of deformed magnesium alloy have been investigated by a combination of electron back-scatter diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).It has found that a large of deformation twins occur near fraction region,including{1012}and{1011}primary twins,{1011}-{1012}double twin and{1011}-{1012}-{1011}-{1012}quadruple *** actual boundaries of{1011}twins at atomic scale consist of{1011}coherent twinning boundaries(TBs)and parallel basal-pyramidal(BPy/Py B)*** tip of{1011}twin can even end up with BPy/Py B interfaces *** experimental observations also reveal that when two{1011}twin variants sharing a common[1120]zone axis approach each other,the growth of one twin is usually hindered by the boundaries of the other *** addition,an apparent"crossing"phenomenon is also discovered when interaction of two{1011}twins takes *** to these experimental observations,the possible underlying mechanisms behind such phenomena are proposed and *** finding are expected to provide an insight into understanding the twinning behavior and the relationship between twin and fracture in magnesium and other materials with hexagonal structure.

Tolerance Comparison Among Selected Spirulina Strains Cultured Under High Carbon Dioxide and Coal Power Plant Flue Gas Supplements

In order to explore the changes in the growth and protein contents of Spirulina and obtain a proper strain for the fixation of carbon dioxide(CO2 from flue gas,the strains isolated from the Spirulina farms and the strain 208 were cultured under different aeration conditions including no CO2,10%CO2 and coal power plant flue gas *** physiological indexes including filament length,biomass yield and chlorophyll a,soluble protein and phycocyanin contents were determined,*** cultured without CO2 supplement,the strain 4-5 exhibited the highest biomass yield(1.880 g L^(−1)and a specific growth rate(0.367 d−***,the specific growth rate of all strains decreased significantly when they were cultured under 10%CO2 and unfiltered coal power plant flue gas *** differences were noted in the performance of the experimental microalgal strains under different contemporaneous *** strain 7-8 achieved the highest biomass yield(1.603 g L^(−1)and relatively high phycocyanin content(7.1%)under 10%CO2 *** noted that strain 4-5 had the highest specific growth rate(0.182 d−1 and biomass yield(0.43 g L^(−1)under coal power plant flue gas *** 6-10 displayed the highest soluble protein content(66.02%),and strain 7-8 showed the highest phycocyanin content(9.28%)under coal power plant flue gas supplement.

Subtropical forest in China has received much attention due to its complex geologic environment and bioclimatic *** have been very few studies addressing which climatic factors have shaped both distribution patterns and niche differentiation of species from this *** also remains unclear whether phylogenetic niche conservatism retains in plant species from this biodiversityrich subtropical region in *** this study,we used geographic occurrence records and bioclimatic factors of Prunus dielsiana(Rosaceae),a wild cherry species,combined with the classical ENM-based DIVA-GIS software to access contemporary distribution and richness patterns of its natural *** current distribution of *** occupied a relatively wide range but exhibited an uneven pattern eastward in general,and the core distribution zone of its populations are projected to concentrate in the Wushan and Wuling Mountain ranges of western *** variables,particularly the Temperature Seasonality(bio4)are screened out quantitatively to be the most influential factors that have shaped the current geographical patterns of *** comparison with other sympatric families,climatic niche at regional scale showed a pattern of phylogenetic niche conservatism within cherry species of Ros *** effect of habitat filtering from altitude is more significant than those of longitude and *** conclude that habitat filtering dominated by limiting hydrothermic factors is the primary driving process of the diversity pattern of *** in subtropical China.

To develop a sound ozone（O_3） pollution control strategy,it is important to well understand and characterize the source contribution due to the complex chemical and physical formation processes of O_*** the ＂Shunde＂ city as a pilot summer case study,we apply an innovative response surface modeling（RSM） methodology based on the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality（CMAQ） modeling simulations to identify the O_3 regime and provide dynamic analysis of the precursor contributions to effectively assess the O_3 impacts of volatile organic compound（VOC） control *** results show that Shunde is a typical VOC-limited urban O_3 polluted *** ＂Jiangmen＂ city,as the main upper wind area during July 2014,its VOCs and nitrogen oxides（NO_x） emissions make up the largest contribution（9.06%）.On the contrary,the contribution from local（Shunde） emission is lowest（6.35%） among the seven neighbor *** local VOCs industrial source emission has the largest contribution comparing to other precursor emission sectors in *** results of dynamic source contribution analysis further show that the local NO_x control could slightly increase the ground O_3 under low（10.00%） and medium（40.00%）reduction ratios,while it could start to turn positive to decrease ground O_3 under the high NO_x abatement ratio（75.00%）.The real-time assessment of O_3 impacts from VOCs control strategies in Pearl River Delta（PRD） shows that the joint regional VOCs emission control policy will effectively reduce the ground O_3 concentration in Shunde.

Keloids are an abnormal fibroproliferative wound-healing disease with a poorly understood pathogenesis,making it difficult to predict and prevent this disease in clinical *** disease-specific signatures at the molecular and cellular levels in both the blood circulation and primary lesions is urgently needed to develop novel biomarkers for risk assessment and therapeutic targets for recurrence-free *** is mounting evidence of immune cell dysregulation in keloid *** this study,we aimed to profile keloid scar tissues and blood cells and found that downregulation of cytotoxic CD8^(+)T cells is a keloid signature in the peripheral blood and keloid ***-cell RNA sequencing revealed that the NKG2A/CD94 complex was specifically upregulated,which might contribute to the significant reduction in CTLs within the scar tissue *** addition,the NKG2A/CD94 complex was associated with high serum levels of soluble human leukocyte antigen-E(sHLA-E).We subsequently measured sHLA-E in our hospital-based study cohort,consisting of 104 keloid patients,512 healthy donors,and 100 patients with an interfering *** sensitivity and specificity of sHLA-E were 83.69%(87/104)and 92.16%(564/612),respectively,and hypertrophic scars and other unrelated diseases exhibited minimal interference with the test ***,intralesional therapy with triamcinolone combined with 5-fluorouracil drastically decreased the sHLA-E levels in keloid patients with better prognostic outcomes,while an incomplete reduction in the sHLA-E levels in patient serum was associated with higher ***-E may effectively serve as a diagnostic marker for assessing the risk of keloid formation and a prognostic marker for the clinical outcomes of intralesional treatment.

Crystallization,Mechanical,Thermal and Rheological Properties of Polypropylene Composites Reinforced by Magnesium Oxysulfate Whisker

Polypropylene （PP） composites containing magnesium oxysulfate whisker （MOSw） or lauric acid （LA） modified MOSw （LAMOSw） were prepared via melt mixing in a torque rheometer. The heterogeneous nucleating effect of LAMOSw was clearly observed in polarized light microscopy （PLM） pictures with the presence of an abundance of small spherulites. MOSw exhibited no nucleation effect and formed a few spherulites with large size. Compared with PP/MOSw composites, PP/LAMOSw exhibited better impact strength, tensile strength and nominal strain at break, ascribing to three possible reasons：（i） more β-crystal PP formed, （ii） better dispersity of LAMOSw in PP matrix and （iii） the plasticizing effect of LA. The results of dynamic mechanical thermal analysis （DMTA） indicated that brittleness of the PP matrix at low temperature was improved by the addition of LAMOSw, while the interracial interactions between MOSw and PP matrix were actually weakened by LA, as evidenced by the higher tan8 values over the entire range of test temperatures. In terms of the rheological properties of the composites, both the η＊ and G＇ at low frequencies increase with the addition of MOSw or LAMOSw, indicating that the PP matrix was transformed from liquid-like to solid-like. However, a network of whiskers did not form because no plateau was found in the G＇ at low frequencies. With low filler content, LAMOSw produced a stronger solid-like behavior than MOSw mainly due to the better dispersion of the LAMOSw in PP matrix. However, for highly-filled composites, the η＊ of PP/LAMOSw at low frequencies was smaller than that of PP/MOSw composite, since the particle- particle contact effect played a major role.

Propane oxidative dehydrogenation(ODH)is an energy-efficient approach to produce ***,ODH suff ers from low propylene selectivity due to a relatively higher activation barrier for propylene formation compared with that for further *** this work,calculations based on density functional theory were performed to map out the reaction pathways of propane ODH on the surfaces(001)and(010)of nickel oxide hydroxide(NiOOH).Results show that propane is physisorbed on both surfaces and produces propylene through a two-step radical dehydrogenation *** relatively low activation barriers of propane dehydrogenation on the NiOOH surfaces make the NiOOH-based catalysts promising for propane *** contrast,the weak interaction between the allylic radical and the surface leads to a high activation barrier for further propylene *** results suggest that the catalysts based on NiOOH can be active and selective for the ODH of propane toward propylene.

Regulation mechanism and pathogenic role of lncRNA plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) in human diseases

Plasmacytoma variant translocation 1 (PVT1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene identified as a recurrent breakpoint of Burkitt’s lymphomas. Human PVT1 gene is located on region 8q24.21, a well-known cancer risk region, and encodes at least 26 linear ncRNA isoforms and 26 circular RNA isoforms, as well as 6 microRNAs. Several PVT1 functioning models have been reported recently such as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) activity and regulating protein stability of oncogenes, especially MYC oncogene. The promoter of PVT1 gene is a boundary element of tumor-suppressor DNA. CircPVT1 derived from PVT1 gene is also a critical non-coding oncogenic RNA. Although substantial advancements have been made in understanding the roles of PVT1 in cancer recently, the detailed mechanisms underlying its functions remain unclear. Herein, we summarize the recent progressions on the mechanisms underlying PVT1 regulated gene expression at different levels. We also discuss the interaction between lncRNA and protein, RNA and DNA, as well as the potential cancer therapy strategy by targeting these networks.

Shortening the manufacturing process of degradable magnesium alloy minitube for vascular stents by introducing cyclic extrusion compression

Due to its excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability,Mg and its alloys are considered to be promising materials for manufacturing of vascular ***,the manufacture of high-precision and high-performance Mg alloys minitubes is still a worldwide problem with a long manufacturing processing caused by the poor workability of Mg *** solve this problem,the cyclic extrusion compression(CEC)was used to pretreat the billet by improving the workability of Mg alloys,finally shortening the manufacturing *** CEC treatment,the size of grains and second phase particles of Mg alloys were dramatically refined to 3.2μm and 0.3μm,*** after three passes of cold drawing,the wall thickness of minitube was reduced from 0.200 mm to 0.135 mm and a length was more than 1000 *** error of wall thickness was measured to be less than 0.01 mm,implying a high dimensional *** yield strength(YS),ultimate tensile strength(UTS)and elongation of finished minitube were 220±10 MPa,290±10 MPa and 22.0±0.5%,*** addition,annealing can improve mechanical property and corrosion resistance of minitubes by improving the homogeneity of the microstructure and enhancing the density of basal texture.
