Failure evaluation mechanism of cement sheath sealing integrity under casing eccentricity during multistage fracturing

A microannulus(MA) is the primary reason for sustained casing pressure in multi-stage fractured-shale gas wells. However, the effect of the casing eccentricity on the long horizontal section has not been considered. In this study, a full-scale integrity tester for cement sheaths is adopted to measure the cumulative plastic deformation. Numerical models are applied to evaluate the development of the cumulative plastic deformation and quantify the MA width considering casing centralization and eccentricity in the context of multiple loading and unloading cycles. Subsequently, the influences of the eccentricity distance and angle, cement-sheath mechanical variables, and different well depths on the cumulative sheath plastic deformation and sheath MA development are explored. The research results demonstrate that casing eccentricity significantly increases the cumulative sheath plastic deformation compared with that of the casing-centered condition. Consequently, the risk of sealing integrity failure increases. The accumulated plastic deformation increases when the eccentricity distance increases. In contrast, the initial plastic deformation increases as the eccentricity angle increases. However, the cumulative plastic deformation decreases after a specific loading and unloading cycle count. Affected by the coupled influence of the internal casing pressure and fracturing stages, the width of the MA in the horizontal section increased from the toe to the heel, and the casing eccentricity significantly increased the MA width at each stage, thus increasing the risk of gas channeling. Finally, an engineering case is considered to study the influence of casing eccentricity. The results show that cement slurries that form low and high elastic moduli can be applied to form a cement sheath when the fracturing stage is lower or higher than a specific value, respectively. Stearic Acid/Copper Foam as Composite Phase Change Materials for Thermal Energy Storage

The application of stearic acid in the latent thermal energy storage(LTES) systems is hindered due to its lower heat transfer rate. Stearic acid(SA) was blended with copper foam(CF) of pore numbers per inch(PPI) of 5, 20, and 40 to prepare composite phase change materials via a molten impregnation method. The thermal physical properties including latent heat, phase change temperature, and thermal energy storage density of composites were characterized. The thermogravimetric analysis indicated that the loadages of SA of SA/CF(5 PPI), SA/CF(20 PPI), and SA/CF(40 PPI) were 74.69%, 71.03%, and 63.54%, respectively;The latent heat of SA/CF(5 PPI), SA/CF(20 PPI), and SA/CF(40 PPI) were determined to 139.9 J·g^-1, 132.7 J·g^-1, and 117.8 J·g^-1, respectively. Meanwhile, the infrared thermal images of SA and SA/CF composites were provided to demonstrate the thermal energy storage and dissipation capability intuitively by the temperature response and surface temperature distribution. The infrared thermal images indicated the addition of CF also reduced the fluidity of liquid SA, and the SA/CF(40 PPI) had better internal heat transfer uniformity and thermal diffusion performance than SA/CF(5 PPI) and SA/CF(20 PPI). All these thermal properties suggested SA/CF(40 PPI) has the potential application in the latent thermal energy storage.

Deformation-induced martensitic transformation kinetics and correlative micromechanical behavior of medium-Mn transformation-induced plasticity steel

An in situ high-energy X-ray diffraction(HE-XRD) technique was mainly used to investigate the micromechanical behavior of medium-Mn Fe-0.12 C-10.16 Mn-1.87 Al(in wt%) transformation-induced plasticit(TRIP) steel subjected to intercritical annealing at 625℃, 650℃, 675℃ and 700℃ for 1 h. As the intercritical annealing temperature increased, the volume fraction of retained austenite(RA) and ultimate tensilstress(UTS) increased, while the Lüders strain and yield stress(YS) decreased. The incremental workhardening exponent of experimental steel increased with increasing intercritical annealing temperatureThe overall trend of the transformation kinetics of the RA with respect to the true strain followed thsigmoidal shape predicted by the Olson and Cohen(OC) model. Load partitioning occurred among the ferrite, austenite and martensite immediately after entering the yielding stage. Because the stability of thRA decreased with increasing intercritical annealing temperature, the load undertaken by the martensitincreased. The moderate transformation kinetics of the RA and effective load partitioning among constituent phases were found to contribute to a favorable combination of strength and ductility for thimedium-Mn TRIP steel.

Effects of Ni content on the cast and solid-solution microstructures of Cu-0.4wt% Be alloys

Identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms of PIK3R1 and DUSP1 genes and their genetic associations with milk production traits in dairy cows

Background:Previously,phosphoinositide-3-kinase regulatory subunit 1(PIK3R1)and dual specificity phosphatase 1(DUSP1)were identified as promising candidate genes for milk production traits due to their being differentially expressed between the dry period and the peak of lactation in livers of dairy ***,in this study,the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)of PIK3R1 and DUSP1 genes were identified and their genetic associations with milk yield,fat yield,fat percentage,protein yield,and protein percentage,were investigated using 1067 Chinese Holstein cows from 40 sire ***:By re-sequencing the entire coding region and 2000 bp of the 5′and 3′flanking regions of the two genes,one SNP in the 5′untranslated region(UTR),three in the 3′UTR,and two in the 3′flanking region of PIK3R1 were identified,and one in the 5′flanking region,one in the 3′UTR,and two in the 3′flanking region of DUSP1 were *** single-locus association analyses showed that five SNPs in PIK3 R1,rs42590258,rs210389799,rs208819656,rs41255622,rs133655926,and rs211408208,and four SNPs in DUSP1,rs207593520,rs208460068,rs209154772,and rs210000760,were significantly associated with milk,fat and protein yields in the first or second lactation(P values≤0.0001 and 0.0461).In addition,by the Haploview 4.2 software,the six and four SNPs in PIK3R1 and DUSP1 respectively formed one haplotype block,and the haplotype-based association analyses showed significant associations between their haplotype combinations and the milk traits in both two lactations(P values≤0.0001 and 0.0364).One SNP,rs207593520(T/G),was predicted to alter the transcription factor binding sites(TFBSs)in the 5′flanking region of ***,the dual-luciferase assay showed that the transcription activity of allele T in rs207593520 was significantly higher than that of allele G,suggesting the activation of transcriptional activity of DUSP1 gene by allele T of ***,the rs207593520 SNP was highlighted as a
