Rotational motion of polyanion versus volume effect associated with ionic conductivity of several solid electrolytes

Volume effect has been extensively investigated in several families of solid electrolytes, i.e., expanding the skeleton lattice by bigger-size substitution favors the ionic conduction. However, this effect is not applicable in α-li2SO4 and α-Na3PO4 based inorganic ionic plastic crystal electrolytes, a unique family of solid electrolytes. Here, it is proposed that the underlying rotational motion effect of polyanion, which is actually inhibited by the substitution of bigger-size polyanion in single-phase solid solution region and causes the unexpected lowering of the ionic conductivity instead, should need the more consideration. Furthermore, through utilizing the rotational motion effect of polyanion, it is given that a new explanation of the ionic conductivities of li10MP2S12 （M = Si, Ge, Se） electrolytes deviating from the volume effect. These results inspire new vision of rationalization of the high-performance solid electrolytes by tuning the rotational motion effect of polyanion.

AIM： To describe the clinical features of congenital double elevator palsy（CDEP） and to evaluate various surgical outcomes between the standard Knapp and augmented Knapp procedures, based on improvements in primary eye position and ocular ***： Twenty-two patients with CDEP at Shanghai Children＇s Hospital were enrolled from July 2014 to January 2018. The forced duction test（FDT） was negative in 21 patients, aged 8 mo to 12 y（mean 5.4 y）. Patients were divided into two treatment groups： 16 patients underwent the standard Knapp procedure（group A）, with or without horizontal squint procedure; and 5 patients underwent the augmented Knapp procedure（Foster procedure; group B）. One patient underwent inferior rectus recession in the affected eye and superior rectus recession in the sound eye because of a positive FDT. The pre-and postoperative vertical deviations in the primary position and ocular motility were compared in the two ***： Twenty-one eyes of the 22 patients（95%） were aligned within 10 prism diopters（PD）, and all patients（100%） reached ≥25% elevation improvement after surgery. The average corrected vertical deviation in group B was statistically better than that of group A. For group A, the vertical deviation in the primary position decreased from 24.75Δ±8.35Δ to 4.56Δ±8.07Δ after surgery, for an improvement of 23.06Δ±6.51Δ（P〈0.05）. In group B, the decrease was from 35.00Δ±5.00Δ（range 30Δ-40Δ） to 1.00Δ±2.24Δ, for an improvement of 34.00Δ±4.18Δ（P〈0.05）. There were significant differences between the pre-and postoperative elevation in each group（group A, P〈0.05; group B, P〈0.05）. The average scale of improved elevation in group B（1.80±0.45） was not significantly better than that of group A（1.69±0.87; Z=-0.732, P=0.548）. The average follow-up periods lasted 21 mo in group A and 18 mo in group ***： For vertical deviations 〈30Δ, the standard Knapp procedure can be chosen. In all-solid-state lithium batteries,the impedance at the cathode/electrolyte interface shows close relationship with the cycle *** coatings are helpful to reduce the impedance and increase the stability at the interface ***2(PO4)3(LTP),a fast ion conductor with high ionic conductivity approaching 10^(-3)S·cm^(-1),is adopted as the coating materials in this *** crystal and electronic structures,as well as the li^+ion migration properties are evaluated for LTP and its doped derivatives based on density functional theory(DFT)and bond valence(BV)*** part of Ti sites with element Mn,Fe,or Mg in LTP can improve the electronic conductivity of LTP while does not decrease its high ionic *** this way,the coating materials with both high ionic conductivities and electronic conductivities can be prepared for all-solid-state lithium batteries to improve the ion and electron transport properties at the interface.

Nitrate(NO3-)is a widespread pollutant in high-salt wastewater and causes serious harm to human *** electrochemical removal of nitrate has been demonstrated to be a promising treatment method,the development of low-cost electro-catalysts is still *** this work,a phosphate modified iron(P-Fe)cathode was prepared for electrochemical removal of nitrate in high-salt *** phosphate modification greatly improved the activity of iron,and the removal rate of nitrate on P-Fe was three times higher than that on Fe *** experiments and density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrated that the modification of phosphoric acid improved the stability and the activity of the zero-valent iron electrode effectively for *** nitrate was firstly electrochemically reduced to ammonium,and then reacted with the anodic generated hypochlorite to *** this study,a strategy was developed to improve the activity and stability of metal electrode for NO_(3)^(-)removal,which opened up a new field for the efficient reduction of NO3-removal by metal electrode materials.

The high-temperature β-phase NaMnO2 is a promising material for Na-ion batteries（NIBs） due to its high capacity and abundant resources. However, the synthesis of phase-pure -NaMnO2 is burdensome and costineffective because it needs to be sintered under oxygen atmosphere at high temperature and followed by a quenching procedure. Here we first report that the pure β phase can be stabilized by Cu-doping and easily synthesized by replacing a proportion of Mn with Cu via a simplified process including sintering in air and cooling to room temperature naturally. Based on the first-principle calculations, the band gap decreases from 0.7 eV to 0.3 eV, which indicates that the electronic conductivity can be improved by Cu-doping. The designed -NaCu（0.1）Mn（0.9）O2 is applied as cathode in NIBs, exhibiting an energy density of 419 Wh/kg and better performance in terms of rate capability and cycling stability than those in the undoped case.

Polymeric microwave actuators combining tissue-like softness with programmablemicrowave-responsive deformation hold great promise for mobile intelligentdevices and bionic soft robots. However, their application is challenged by restricted electromagneticsensitivity and intricate sensing coupling. In this study, a sensitized polymericmicrowave actuator is fabricated by hybridizing a liquid crystal polymer with Ti3C2Tx(MXene). Compared to the initial counterpart, the hybrid polymer exhibits unique spacechargepolarization and interfacial polarization, resulting in significant improvements of230% in the dielectric loss factor and 830% in the apparent efficiency of electromagneticenergy harvest. The sensitized microwave actuation demonstrates as the shortenedresponse time of nearly 10 s, which is merely 13% of that for the initial shape memory polymer. Moreover, the ultra-low content of MXene (upto 0.15 wt%) benefits for maintaining the actuation potential of the hybrid polymer. An innovative self-powered sensing prototype that combinesdriving and piezoelectric polymers is developed, which generates real-time electric potential feedback (open-circuit potential of ~ 3 mV) duringactuation. The polarization-dominant energy conversion mechanism observed in the MXene-polymer hybrid structure furnishes a new approachfor developing efficient electromagnetic dissipative structures and shows potential for advancing polymeric electromagnetic intelligent devices.

Ischemic stroke is a secondary cause of mortality worldwide,imposing considerable medical and economic burdens on *** vesicles,serving as natural nanocarriers for drug delivery,exhibit excellent biocompatibility in vivo and have significant advantages in the management of ischemic ***,the uncertain distribution and rapid clearance of extracellular vesicles impede their delivery *** utilizing membrane decoration or by encapsulating therapeutic cargo within extracellular vesicles,their delivery efficacy may be greatly ***,previous studies have indicated that microvesicles,a subset of large-sized extracellular vesicles,can transport mitochondria to neighboring cells,thereby aiding in the restoration of mitochondrial function post-ischemic *** extracellular vesicles have also demonstrated the capability to transfer mitochondrial components,such as proteins or deoxyribonucleic acid,or their sub-components,for extracellular vesicle-based ischemic stroke *** this review,we undertake a comparative analysis of the isolation techniques employed for extracellular vesicles and present an overview of the current dominant extracellular vesicle modification *** the complex facets of treating ischemic stroke,we also delineate various extracellular vesicle modification approaches which are suited to different facets of the treatment ***,given the burgeoning interest in mitochondrial delivery,we delved into the feasibility and existing research findings on the transportation of mitochondrial fractions or intact mitochondria through small extracellular vesicles and microvesicles to offer a fresh perspective on ischemic stroke therapy.

Brown carbon(BrC)has attracted widespread attention because of its strong absorption of solar radiation in the ultraviolet-visible wavelength range,which causes adverse impacts on human ***,BrC was a physically defined class of ***,current research has gradually shifted towards the identification of its chemical groups,because its light-absorbing capability,chemical properties and health effects mainly depend on the chemical composition of its ***,this review mainly focuses on the chemical understanding of BrC based on chromophores,and the secondary formation mechanism of chromophores,photosensitized reactions,and human health effects of BrC were detailly ***,BrC chromophores are divided into five categories:nitrogen-heterocycles,nitrogen-chain,aromatic species,oligomers and sulfur-containing organic *** chromophore precursor species exhibit variations,and their formation mechanisms are also ***,BrC can trigger the production of secondary organic aerosol(SOA)precursors or cause SOA growth because BrC is an important component of light-absorbing particles formed during incomplete combustion of biomass and fossil fuels,potentially exerting adverse effects on human ***,developing sufficiently separated methods for BrC and refining algorithms and machine learning can lead to a more effective understanding of the chemical composition of chromophores,thus enabling better evaluation of the atmospheric effects and health impacts of *** all,this review provides new insights into the categories of BrC chromophores and new advance in secondary formation mechanisms,photosensitized reactions,and human health effects on the basis of chemical structures.
