The optimal design of training sequences for channel estimation in multiple-input multiple-output （MIMO） systems under spatially correlated fading is considered. The channel is assumed to be a block-fading model with spatial correlation known at both the transmitter and the receiver. To minimize the channel estimation error, optimal training sequences are designed to exploit full information of the spatial correlation under the criterion of minimum mean square error （MMSE）. It is investigated that the spatial correlation is helpful to decrease the estimation error and the proposed training sequences have good performance via simulations.

BACKGROUND: The disorder of the respiratory and circulation system during the anesthesia and operation often can lead to severe hypoxia. Preoxygenation is a conventional therapy for treatment of hypoxia. OBJECTIVE: To observe the change in the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS), i.e. brain tissue injury degree, in cerebral cortex of rats after hypoxia/reoxygenation under the condition of different levels of preoxygenation. DESIGN: Randomized controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Department of Anesthesiology and Central Laboratory, Shengjing Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University. MATERIALS: This experiment was carried out in the laboratory of Shengjing Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University from March 2003 to March 2004. Seventy-two male Wistar rats, weighing from 250 to 300 g, were provided by the Animal Experimental Room of Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University [license No. SYXK (liao) 2003-0019]. Seventy-two rats were randomized into 3 groups: preoxygenation group, hypoxia group and reoxygentation group. Each group was divided into 4 subgroups, 6 rats in each subgroup. METHODS: 0.21, 0.50, 0.75 and 0.98 volume fraction of oxygen was given to 4 subgroups of preoxygenation group respectively. The rats in each subgroup of hypoxia group inhaled oxygen for 30 minutes according to the method of preoxygenation. Then, nitrogen gas replaced oxygen and was pumped into the cabin, and the volume fraction of oxygen was decreased to be 0.05 within 20 minutes. The rats in each subgroup of reoxygenation group were treated with the experimental methods of preoxygenation and hypoxia separately, then they were moved into the wide mouthed bottle with two-air-duct rubber stopper. Finally, oxygen was pumped and the volume fraction of oxygen reached over 0.98 within 20 minutes. After 24 hours, all the surviving rats were killed by decapitation. There is a trend that, virtually everyone, rang- ing from big Web companies to traditional enterprisers to physical science researchers to social scientists, is either al- ready experiencing or anticipating unprecedented growth in the amount of data available in their world, as well as new op- portunities and great untapped value. This paper reviews big data challenges from a data management respective. In partic- ular, we discuss big data diversity, big data reduction, big data integration and cleaning, big data indexing and query, and fi- nally big data analysis and mining. Our survey gives a brief overview about big-data-oriented research and problems.

A backcrossed population （BC1） derived from a cross between C100 and Dazao was obtained. The quantitative trait loci （QTLs） of the economically important traits for whole cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, ratio of cocoon shell and weight of pupae, etc., were analyzed for the first time using the multiple interval mapping software WinQTLCart2.0. In total 40 QTLs were detected and contributed to 21 groups based on the constructed linkage map. According to the mapping results, 2, 2, 3, and 2 major QTLs explained over 20% of total phenotypic variations, whereas four QTLs, namely qCW-19, qSW-2, qCSR-4, and qPW-23, explained more than 30% of total phenotypic variations for whole cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, ratio of cocoon shell and weight of pupae, respectively. Correlated traits QTLs often share the same location. Furthermore, most of the detected QTLs were closed to one-side marker. By using the very closed markers, positive QTLs can be aggregated, which can form a basis for molecular marker-assisted selection and breeding.

The local structure and thermophysical behavior of Mg-La liquid alloys were in-depth understood using deep potential molecular dynamic(DPMD) simulation driven via machine learning to promote the development of Mg-La alloys. The robustness of the trained deep potential(DP) model was thoroughly evaluated through several aspects, including root-mean-square errors(RMSEs), energy and force data, and structural information comparison results;the results indicate the carefully trained DP model is reliable. The component and temperature dependence of the local structure in the Mg-La liquid alloy was analyzed. The effect of Mg content in the system on the first coordination shell of the atomic pairs is the same as that of temperature. The pre-peak demonstrated in the structure factor indicates the presence of a medium-range ordered structure in the Mg-La liquid alloy, which is particularly pronounced in the 80at% Mg system and disappears at elevated temperatures. The density, self-diffusion coefficient, and shear viscosity for the Mg-La liquid alloy were predicted via DPMD simulation, the evolution patterns with Mg content and temperature were subsequently discussed, and a database was established accordingly. Finally, the mixing enthalpy and elemental activity of the Mg-La liquid alloy at 1200 K were reliably evaluated,which provides new guidance for related studies.

Overexpression and activation of HER-2/neu (also known as c-erbB-2), a proto-oncogene, was found in about 30% of human breast cancers, promoting cancer growth and making cancer cells resistant to chemo- and radio-therapy. Wild-type p53 is crucial in regulating cell growth and apoptosis and is found to be mutated or deleted in 60-70% of human cancers. And some cancers with a wild-type p53 do not have normal p53 function, suggesting that it is implicated in a complex process regulated by many factors. In the present study, we showed that the overexpression of HER-2/neu could decrease the amount of wild-type p53 protein via activating PI3K pathway, as well as inducing MDM2 nuclear translocation in MCF7 human breast cancer cells. Blockage of PI3K pathway with its specific inhibitor LY294002 caused Gl-S phase arrest, decreased cell growth rate and increased chemo- and radio-therapeutic sensitivity in MCF7 cells expressing wild-type p53. However, it did not increase the sensitivity to adriamycin in MDA-MB-453

The interaction of L-Aspartic acid （Asp） with Vctoria Green S （VGS） in pH 6.0 Britton-Robinson buffer solution has been investigated by UV/Vis spectropbotometry and resonance light scattering （RLS） technique. The non-covalent interactions such as hydrogen bond, salt linkage and hydrophobic bond were proposed to explain the interaction between VGS and Asp. It indicated that Asp could link each other to form a long chain by salt linkages and hydrogen bonds in aqueous medium. Then the long chain surrounded the hydrophobic groups of VGS via hydrophobic interaction and reacted with VGS by salt linkages and hydrogen bonds to form a macromolecular aggregation. The aggregation was much bigger than VGS itself. So the color became deeper and the system＇s absorption and RLS intensity increased. The increase in the absorbance at 617nm was proportional to the concentration of Asp, providing a basis for the quantitative determination of Asp. This method was simple and efficient than the ordinary methods and had been applied to the direct determination of Asp with satisfactory results.

Clinical and pathological features of acute optic neuritis in Chinese patients

Background The incentives and the factors that affect the onset and outcome of optic neuritis （ON） are not very clear. The aim of this study is to define and get a comprehensive understanding of the clinical profile of ON, and to identify the factors that were related to the prognosis of the patients. Methods Medical records of patients with diagnosis of ON at Huashan Hospital, Fudan University between March 2008 and June 2011 were reviewed. Clinical features, ophthalmologic and neurologic assessments, neuroimaging studies, laboratory examinations, visual recovery, and final outcome of the patients were evaluated by the authors. Results Records of 50 patients （32 females and 18 males）, aged 15-56 years, were reviewed, in which 22% patients had a previous onset of ON. Maximal visual deficit was severe in 72.5% （〈20/200）. Abnormal rates of hormone levels and rheumatoid indicators were found in 54.2% and 25.0%. ANA test returned positive in 40%, oligoclonal banding （OCB） was identified in 31.3%, and Serum neuromyelitis optica （NMO）-IgG studies were abnormal in 25% of the patients. Neuroimaging abnormalities associated with ON were documented in six patients. Three of the 50 patients have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and two with NMO. Visual acuity was 20/20 or better in 26.1% and 20/100 or worse in 39.1% affected eyes at the last visit. Poor visual acuity at onset is the main factor that would affect the final outcome of vision （P 〈0.05）. Conclusions Vision defects of this group of patients were severe. Females had a higher incidence of ON than males. Hormone levels, rheumatoid indicators and immune parameters may be related to the onset of ON. The severe reduction of visual acuity at onset may be related to the poor outcome of vision in ON patients.
