MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF A Ni_3Al-Fe BASED ALLOY

The microstructure,tensile properties at 20—950℃ and creep rupture properties at 700- 900℃ in a Ni_3Al-Fe based alloy after high temperature deformation have been *** results show the microstructure of the alloy is composed of γ′-and β-*** grain size and yield strength of the alloy is stable when the temperature≤600℃,and it is ductile at high *** creep of the alloy at 700—900℃ is controlled by the climbing of dislo- cations,and the activation energy for creep is 439 KJ/mol with a stress exponent of 4.

An additive of Y to Ni_3Al based alloy may form a phase YNi_5 which increases in amount with the increase of Y *** was found that the YNi_5 phase in Ni_3Al alloy could remarkably make its grains finer and its grain boundaries more crooked other than *** the Y con- tent≥0.1 wt-%,it occurs as solid solution state and is favorable to high temperature compressive properties and oxidation resistance of the *** Y≥0.3 wt-%,the forma- tion of YNi_5 is predominant in the shape of irregular strips inside Ni_3Al grains and along their grain *** seems to be quite harmful to high temperature strength,ductility and oxidation resistance of the alloy.

The effect of alloying element such as Mo,Si or B and its stoichoimetric composition on the tensile properties at room and elevated temperatures,and also on the microstructure of Fe_3Al and FeAl alloys has been *** Fe aluminides were found to be obviously strengthened by all of three elements,but seriously embrittled by Mo and *** improvemen over the plasicity of FeAl may be made by adding B,and the fracture surface is variedfrom intergranular to transgranular cleavage *** room temperature plasticity of the Fe-rich Fe_3Al or Al-rich FeAl is much better than that of the stoichoimetric *** anoma- lous temperature dependence on the yield strength of Fe_3Al in range of 400 to 500℃ or of FeAl in range of 400 to 500℃ was *** has been carried out by the aspect of microstructure.
