Global warming in tandem with surface albedo reduction caused by black carbon(BC)deposition on glaciers accelerated glacier melting;however,their respective contributions remain *** in the Qilian Mountains are crucial for the development of oases in the Hexi Corridor;however,their area has decreased by more than 20%over the past ***,this study developed a dynamic deposition model for light-absorbing particles(LAPs),coupled with a surface energy and mass balance *** comprehensively assessed the effects of BC and warming on the melting of a typical glacier in the Qilian Mountains based on the coupled *** on the glacier surface caused 13.1%of annual glacier-wide melting,of which directly deposited atmospheric BC reduced the surface albedo by 0.02 and accounted for 9.1%of glacier *** air temperature during 2000-2010 has increased by 1.5℃ relative to that during the 1950s,accounting for 51.9%of current glacier ***,BC emission have increased by 4.6 times compared to those of the early Industrial Revolution recorded in an ice core,accounting conservatively for 6.3%of current glacier *** BC emissions has a limited influence on current glacier melting;however,in the long-term,mitigation should exert a noteworthy impact on glacier melting through the self-purification of glaciers.

Thioxanthene-9-thione Mediated MMA Polymerization

In the ＂cycloketyl radical mediated living polymerization＂（CMP） process, a cycloketyl compound, [9,9＇]bixanthenyl-9,9＇ diol （BIXAN） was ultilized as initiator and mediator. The cycloketyl （CK） radical was used as the dormant radical to achieve the increase of molecular weight. Herein, a series of cycloketyl thioketones were synthesised by Lawesson＇s reagent by one step reaction with high yeild, and we found that, when a special cyeloketyl thioketone compound, thioxanthene-9-thione （TXT）, was added to a routine radical polymerization system, TXT could capture chain radical, and simultaneously formed an radical analogous to CK radical in structure, which could trigger the growth of polymer chains. This simple system was efficient to initiate the polymerization of methyl methacrylate （MMA） and in all cases the molecular weights increased with the increase of conversions. By the end-group analysis with 1H-NMR and MALDI-TOF MS, it was confirmed that the P-STXT radical was used to control the polymerization. The re-initiating reactions were achieved when PMMA was used as the macro-initiator.

Polyetherketoneketone(PEKK)is a new evolving polymeric material,and is considered as another important member of the polyaryletherketone(PAEK)family in addition to polyetheretherketone(PEEK).Hot compression molding can be used to compact and consolidate the PEKK products,where the temperature and pressure play key roles to affect the molecular mobility,entanglement and crystallization,and thus the mechanical properties of *** this study,a preheating treatment was introduced in the compression molding,and it is found that such preheating is very essential to avoid the formation of crystal FormⅡ,based on the increased chain *** dynamics simulations revealed that the molecular mobility is always suppressed when a compression is ***,by increasing the entanglement via the preheating and maintaining such entanglement in the consequent compression molding,strong and tough PEKK materials were obtained,with a negligible fraction of crystal FormⅡ.

Assessment of biological functions for C3A cells interacting with adverse environments of liver failure plasma

Background:For its better differentiated hepatocyte phenotype,C3A cell line has been utilized in bioar-tificial liver ***,up to now,there are only a few of studies working at the metabolic alter-nations of C3A cells under the culture conditions with liver failure plasma,which mainly focus on car-bohydrate metabolism,total protein synthesis and *** this study,we investigated the effects of acute liver failure plasma on the growth and biological functions of C3A cells,especially on CYP450 ***:C3A cells were treated with fresh DMEM medium containing 10%FBS,fresh DMEM medium containing 10%normal plasma and acute liver failure plasma,*** incubation,the C3A cells were assessed for cell viabilities,lactate dehydrogenase leakage,gene transcription,protein levels,albu-min secretion,ammonia metabolism and CYP450 enzyme ***:Cell viabilities decreased 15%,and lactate dehydrogenase leakage had 1.3-fold elevation in acute liver failure plasma *** transcription exhibited up-regulation,down-regulation or stability for different hepatic *** contrast,protein expression levels for several CYP450 enzymes kept constant,while the CYP450 enzyme activities decreased or remained *** secretion reduced about 48%,and ammonia accumulation increased approximately 41%.Conclusions:C3A cells cultured with acute liver failure plasma showed mild inhibition of cell viabilities,reduction of albumin secretion,and increase of ammonia ***,CYP450 enzymes demonstrated various alterations on gene transcription,protein expression and enzyme activities.

Transport properties of magnetron-sputtered CoO/Co/Pt heterostructures were investigated by physical property measurement *** types of magnetoresistance are observed in the heterostructures,including isotropic anisotropic magnetoresistance(AMR),AMR with geometric size effect,and interfacial effect.A reversal in sign of perpendicular AMR is found in the film CoO(3 nm)/Co(3 nm)/Pt(3 nm)compared to the film CoO(3 nm)/Co(3 nm)/CoO(3 nm),which is associated with ***,perpendicular AMR is tunable in the films CoO(3 nm)/Co(3 nm)/CoO(t)/Pt(3 nm)and CoO(3 nm)/Co(3 nm)/Pt(t)/CoO(3 nm)at will,with either positive or negative value,by varying the inserting layer *** electronic structure information of the samples was measured by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The spin-related transport and XPS results manifest that magnetic proximity effect,surface scattering,together with oxygen migration contribute to the tunable function of Pt.

Contact and fumigant toxicities of calamusenone isolated from Acorus gramineus rhizome against adults of Sitophilus zeamais and Rhizopertha dominica

Calamusenone [3,8-dimethyl-5-（1-methylethylidene）- 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octa- hydroazulene-6-one, C15H22O] from Acorus gramineus Soland rhizome was tested in the laboratory for its insecticidal activities against adults of Sitophilus zeamais Motsch. and Rhizopertha dominica （Fab.）, using dry film contact and fumigation methods. Responses varied with insect species, dosage and exposure time. In the dry film contact experiment, the highest insecticidal effects of calamusenone against S. zeamais and R. dominica adults were produced at 170.32μg/cm2 after treatment for 72 h, with 96.2% and 98.7% mortalities, respectively. The median lethal concentration （LC50）（72 h） values of calamusenone against S. zeamais and R. dominica adults were 67.00 μg/cm2 and 77.30 μg/cm2, respectively. As a potential fumigant, calamusenone showed moderate insecticidal effect on the adults of S. zeamais and R. dominica in fumigation experiment, with their LC50 （120 h） values of 125.71μL/L and 93.64μL/L respectively. Calamusenone isolated from A. gramineus rhizome showed promise as a novel pesticide candidate for stored-product pest control.

GSK3β inhibitor promotes myelination and mitigates muscle atrophy after peripheral nerve injury

Delay of axon regeneration after peripheral nerve injury usually leads to progressive muscle atrophy and poor functional recovery. The Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway is considered to be one of the main molecular mechanisms that lead to skeletal muscle atrophy in the elderly. We hold the hypothesis that the innervation of target muscle can be promoted by accelerating axon regeneration and decelerating muscle cell degeneration so as to improve functional recovery of skeletal muscle following peripheral nerve injury. This process may be associated with the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway. Our study designed in vitro cell models to simulate myelin regeneration and muscle atrophy. We investigated the effects of SB216763, a glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta inhibitor, on the two major murine cell lines RSC96 and C2C12 derived from Schwann cells and muscle satellite cells. The results showed that SB216763 stimulated the Schwann cell migra- tion and myotube contraction. Quantitative polymerase chain reaction results demonstrated that myelin related genes, myelin associated glycoprotein and cyclin-D1, muscle related gene myogenin and endplate-associated gene nicotinic acetylcholine receptors levels were stimulated by SB216763. Immunocytochemical staining revealed that the expressions of ^-catenin in the RSC96 and C2C12 cytosolic and nuclear compartments were increased in the SB216763-treated cells. These findings confirm that the glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta in- hibitor, SB216763, promoted the myelination and myotube differentiation through the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway and contributed to nerve remyelination and reduced denervated muscle atrophy after peripheral nerve injury.
