Map is one of the communication means created by human *** have been making efforts on the comparison of maps to natural languages so as to establish a"cartographic language"or"map language".One of such efforts is to adopt the Shannon’s Information Theory originated in digital communication into cartography so as to establish an entropy-based cartographic communication ***,success has been very limited although research work had started as early as the mid-1960 *** is then found that the bottleneck problem was the lack of appropriate measures for the spatial(configurational)information of(graphic and image)maps,as the classic Shannon entropy is only capable of characterizing statistical information but fails to capture the configurational information of(graphic and image)***,after over 40-year development,some bottleneck problems have been *** precisely,generalized Shannon entropies for metric and thematic information of(graphic)maps have been developed and the first feasible solution for computing the Boltzmann entropy of image maps has been invented,which is capable of measuring the spatial information of not only numerical images but also categorical *** such progress,it is now feasible to build the"Information Theory of Cartography".In this paper,a framework for such a theory is proposed and some key issues are *** these issues,some have already been tackled while others still need *** a result,a research agenda is set for future *** all these issues are tackled,the theory will become matured so as to become a theoretic basis of *** is expected that the Information Theory of Cartography will play an increasingly important role in the discipline of cartography because more and more researchers have advocated that information is more fundamental than matter and energy.

Diseases in tea trees can result in significant losses in both the quality and quantity of tea *** monitoring can help to prevent the occurrence of large-scale diseases in tea ***,existingmethods face challenges such as a high number of parameters and low recognition accuracy,which hinders their application in tea plantation monitoring *** paper presents a lightweight I-MobileNetV2 model for identifying diseases in tea leaves,to address these *** proposed method first embeds a Coordinate Attention(CA)module into the originalMobileNetV2 network,enabling the model to locate disease regions ***,a Multi-branch Parallel Convolution(MPC)module is employed to extract disease features across multiple scales,improving themodel’s adaptability to different disease ***,the AutoML for Model Compression(AMC)is used to compress themodel and reduce computational *** results indicate that our proposed algorithm attains an average accuracy of 96.12%on our self-built tea leaf disease dataset,surpassing the original MobileNetV2 by 1.91%.Furthermore,the number of model parameters have been reduced by 40%,making itmore suitable for practical application in tea plantation environments.

Competitive interactions and coexistence of sympatric flagship carnivores in Asia

Understanding the competition and coexistence of flagship carnivores is key to creating strategies for their conservation in the face of global carnivore *** studies exploring the dynamics and competition between tigers(Panthera tigris)and leopards(***)span decades,there is a lack of understanding regarding the factors that influence their coexistence mechanisms on a broad scale,as well as the drivers determining their exploitative and interference *** gathered a comprehensive list of research papers among which 36 papers explored the interspecific interactions between tigers and leopards and tested the influence of biotic and abiotic factors on the coexistence mechanisms along three dimensions using multiple response variables regression models;we also tested the influence of ecological drivers determining the exploitative or interference competition between tigers and *** and ungulate density were the most important predictors in regulating the coexistence *** and leopards exhibited more positive relations/higher overlaps as elevation increased in the spatial *** addition,they showed a higher dietary overlap in the prey-rich *** determined that interference competition between tigers and leopards was less frequently observed in habitats with dense tree cover and homogeneous vegetation ***,studies with multiple metrics would promote the detection of interference *** study provides new insight into the competitive interactions and coexistence mechanisms of tigers and leopards on a broad ***-makers and managers should pay more attention to the factors of elevation,prey abundance,and habitat structures for the conservation of tigers and leopards.

A Coupled Immersed Interface and Level Set Method for Three-Dimensional Interfacial Flows with Insoluble Surfactant

In this paper,a numerical method is presented for simulating the 3D interfacial flows with insoluble *** numerical scheme consists of a 3D immersed interface method(IIM)for solving Stokes equations with jumps across the interface and a 3D level-set method for solving the surfactant convection-diffusion equation along a moving and deforming *** 3D IIM Poisson solver modifies the one in the literature by assuming that the jump conditions of the solution and the flux are implicitly given at the grid points in a small neighborhood of the *** assumption is convenient in conjunction with the level-set *** allows standard Lagrangian interpolation for quantities at the projection points on the *** interface jump relations are re-derived accordingly.A novel rotational procedure is given to generate smooth local coordinate systems and make effective *** examples demonstrate that the IIM Poisson solver and the Stokes solver achieve second-order accuracy.A 3D drop with insoluble surfactant under shear flow is investigated numerically by studying the influences of different physical parameters on the drop deformation.

IMPROVING 9-INTERSECTION MODEL BY REPLACING THE COMPLEMENT WITH VORONOI REGION

9-intersection model is the most popular framework used for formalizing the spatial relations between two spatial objectsA andB. It transforms the topological relationships between two simple spatial objectsA andB into point-set topology problem in terms of the intersections ofA’s boundary (?A), interior (A 0) and (A ?) withB’s boundary (?B), interior (B 0) and exterior (B ?). It is shown in this paper that there exist some limitations of the original 9-intersection model due to its definition of an object’s exterior as its complement, and it is difficult to distinguish different disjoint relations and relations between complex objects with holes, difficult or even impossible to compute the intersections with the two object’s complements (?A∩B ?,A 0∩?B ?,A ?∩?B,A ?∩B 0 andA ?∩B ?)since the complements are infinitive. The authors suggest to re-define the exterior of spatial object by replacing the complement with its Voronoi region. A new Voronoi-based 9-intersection (VNI) is proposed and used for formalizing topological relations between spatial bojects. By improving the 9-intersection model, it is now possible to distinguish disjoint relations and to deal with objects with holes. Also it is possible to compute the exterior-based intersections and manipulate spatial relations with the VNI.

An Augmented Approach for the Pressure Boundary Condition in a Stokes Flow

An augmented method is proposed for solving stationary incompressible Stokes equations with a Dirichlet boundary condition along parts of the *** this approach,the normal derivative of the pressure along the parts of the boundary is introduced as an additional variable and it is solved by the GMRES iterative *** dimension of the augmented variable in discretization is the number of grid points along the boundary which is O(N).Each GMRES iteration(or one matrix-vector multiplication)requires three fast Poisson solvers for the pressure and the *** our numerical experiments,only a few iterations are *** have also combined the augmented approach for Stokes equations involving interfaces,discontinuities,and singularities.

Despite the great potential of anti-PD-L1 antibodies for immunotherapy,their low response rate due to an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment has hampered their *** address this issue,we constructed a cell membrane-coated nanosystem(mB4S)to reverse an immunosuppressive microenvironment to an immuno-supportive one for strengthening the anti-tumor *** this system,Epirubicin(EPI)as an immunogenic cell death(ICD)inducer was coupled to a branched glycopolymer via hydrazone bonds and diABZI as a stimulator of interferon genes(STING)agonist was encapsulated into *** internalization of mB4S,EPI was acidic-responsively released to induce ICD,which was characterized by an increased level of calreticulin(CRT)exposure and enhanced ATP ***,diABZI effectively activated the STING *** with mB4S in combination with an anti-PD-L1 antibody elicited potent immune responses by increasing the ratio of matured dendritic cells(DCs)and CD8+T cells,promoting cytokines secretion,up-regulating M1-like tumor-associated macrophages(TAMs)and down-regulating immunosuppressive myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs).Therefore,this nanosystem for co-delivery of an ICD inducer and a STING agonist achieved promotion of DCs maturation and CD8+T cells infiltration,creating an immuno-supportive microenvironment,thus potentiating the therapy effect of the anti-PD-L1 antibody in both 4T1 breast and CT26 colon tumor mice.
