Background:As one of the reproductive strategies adopted by bird species,variation in investment in egg production and its influencing factors are important and well-studied *** changes in egg size associated with laying order may reflect a strategy of"brood survival"or"brood reduction"adopted by female birds in different ***:We conducted field studies on the breeding parameters of the Saxaul Sparrow(Passer ammodendri)in Gansu Province,China from 2010 to 2017,to clarify the factors affecting the egg investment and reproductive performance of this passerine ***:Our results revealed significant differences in clutch size,egg size and the fledging rate between the first and second brood of Saxaul Sparrows and suggested that this typical desert species allocates more breeding resources to the more favourable second brood period,leading to greater reproductive *** body size presented a positive relationship with egg size,and male body size presented positive relationships with clutch size and *** females that started their clutches later laid more eggs,and hatchability and the fledging rate also increased with a later laying date in the first brood *** successive eggs laid within the 5-egg clutches(the most frequent clutch size),egg size increased for the first three eggs and then significantly ***:Our results indicate that female Saxaul Sparrows increased egg investment because of good quality of paired males and good environmental *** intraclutch variation of egg size suggests that this species inhabiting an arid environment adopts a"brood reduction"strategy.

The objective of this research is to prepare specially designed surface texture on hard steel surface by electrochemical micromachining (EM) and to incorporate electroless plated Ag/MoS2 solid lubricant coating into the dimples of EM textured steel surface to effectively reduce friction and wear of steel-steel contacts. The friction and wear behavior of the Ag/MoS2 solid lubricant coating on EM textured steel surface was evaluated in relation to the size and spacing of the dimples thereon. The microstructure of as-plated Ag/MoS2 solid lubricant coating and the morphology and elemental composition of the worn coating surface and counterface steel surface were analyzed by means of optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectrometry. It is found that electroless plated Ag/MoS2 coating is able to greatly reduce the friction and wear of the EM textured steel disc coupled with GCr15 steel ring, mainly because of the formation of solid self-lubricating layer on the EM textured steel surface and of transferred lubricating film on counterface steel surface. The diameter and spacing of the dimples are suggested as 500 μm for acquiring the best wear resistance of the hard steel discs after electrochemical micromachining treatment and electroless plating of Ag/MoS2 solid lubricating coating.

The remarkable optoelectronic features of halide perovskite promote their potential applications in semiconductor devices beyond solar cells,which require high-quality single crystals with controlled defect ***,we investigated the synthesis mechanism of chemical vapor deposited single-crystalline all-inorganic perovskite microplates(MPs),and reported a defect-modulated photocurrent which is closely related to the growth sequence of the *** MP synthesis initiates from island-like nano-disks,and subsequently transits to a layer-by-layer fashion,resulting in a defect-rich area at the center of the *** elevated temperatures,these central defects may be thermally activated and become highly mobile,leading to photoluminescence quenching and degression of local and overall optoelectronic attributes,as evidenced by the spatial resolved optical and electrical scanning probe ***,this work shines light on the formation,proliferation and dynamics of defects in perovskites,and offers guidance for preparation of high-quality perovskites micro-crystals for functional semiconductor devices with high temperature stability.

Along with the progress of thetechnique of oil-gas field devel-opment, an attention is generallypaid to the formation damage bydrilling and well cementing inprocess of well completion. Inthe end of 1980s, the petroleumenterprises have introduced theperforating bullets from Schlumberger and Hal-liburton, co. Loganin(LOG),a bioactive compound derived from Cornus officinalis Siebold & Zucc,has been understudied in the context of osteoarthritis(OA)*** this study,we induced an inflammatory response in chondrocytes using lipopolysaccharide(LPS)and subsequently treated these cells with *** employed fluorescence analysis to quantify reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels and measured the expression of NLRP3 and nuclear factor erythropoietin-2-related factor 2(NRF2)using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR),Western blotting,and immunofluorescence(IF)***,we developed an OA mouse model by performing medial meniscus destabilization(DMM)surgery and monitored disease progression through micro-com-puted tomography(micro-CT),hematoxylin and eosin(H&E)staining,safranin O and fast green(S&F)staining,and immunohisto-chemical(IHC)*** results indicate that LOG significantly reduced LPS-induced ROS levels in chondrocytes,inhibited the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome,and enhanced NRF2/heme oxygenase 1(HO-1)*** vivo,LOG treatment mitigated cartilage degradation and osteophyte formation triggered by DMM surgery,decreased NLRP3 expression,and increased NRF2 *** findings suggest that LOG has a protective effect against OA,potentially delaying disease progression by inhibiting the ROS-NLRP3-IL-1β axis and activating the NRF2/HO-1 pathway.

Reaction Mechanisms and Tensile Properties of the Composites Fabricated by Al-B2O3 System

The aluminum matrix composites(AlB2+a-Al2O3)/Al were fabricated by in situ reaction synthesis from an Al-B2 O3 system. The reaction pathways, apparent activation energies and tensile properties were analyzed by using differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), and equipped energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS). The results showed that there are two-step reactions in the Al-B2 O3 system. The first-step is 15 Al+7 B2 O3→7 aAl2O3+AlB12+2 B and the second-step is 2 B+AlB12+6 Al→7 AlB2. Their corresponding apparent activation energies are 352 and 444 kJ/mol, respectively. The tensile strength and elongation rate of the composites are 190.5 MPa and 6.6%, *** with ordinary aluminum base material, the performance is superior. There are many dimple and cracked a-Al2O3 reinforcements in tensile fracture surface layer.
