A facile and reproducible method has been developed for the synthesis of ordered anatase Mn-TiO2 nanospheres with controllable sizes in the range 200-300 nm by simply varying the amount of manganese（li） chloride added. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）, scanning electron microscope （SEM）, and transmission electron microscope （TEM） measurements, and it was found that the manganese exists in multivalent forms （Mn4＋/Mn3＋） and substitutes for some of the Ti4＋ in the anatase TiO2 lattice. The presence of Mn significantly influences the morphology and high-temperature stability of TiO2, and extends its light absorption range. Surface photovoltage and photocurrent measurements revealed that an electronic interaction between the Mn and TiO2 was present, in which Mn served as an electron acceptor and effectively inhibited the charge recombination in TiO2; this is thought to be responsible for the highly efficient photocatalytic activity of the material in the degradation of rhodarnine B （RhB） under visible-light irradiation （λ 〉 420 nm）.

OBJECTIVE:To assess the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for post-stroke fatigue(PSF).METHODS:Eight online databases were searched to collect relevant trials of acupuncture for PSF published before April ***-analysis was performed by using RevMan 5.4 *** Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development and Evaluation system was used to assess the certainty of ***:Four randomized controlled trials involving 289 PSF patients were identified and included in the systematic *** results of the Meta-analysis revealed that acupuncture group was significantly better than routine treatment group in improving the effective rate[risk ratio(RR)=1.15,95%CI(1.01,1.33),P=0.04],reducing the FSS score[mean difference(MD)=-4.71,95%CI(-6.22,-3.20),Plity RCTs are needed to further confirm these findings.

More and more studies have recognized that the nanosized pores of hydrogels are too small for cells to normally grow and newly formed tissue to infiltrate,which impedes tissue ***,hydrogels with macropores and/or controlled degradation attract more and more attention for solving this *** alginate/Bioglass(SA/BG)hydrogel,which has been reported to be an injectable and bioactive hydrogel,is also limited to be used as tissue engineering scaffolds due to its nanosized ***,in this study,degradation of SA/BG hydrogel was modulated by grafting deferoxamine(DFO)to *** functionalized grafted DFO-SA(G-DFO-SA)was used to form G-DFO-SA/BG injectable *** vitro degradation experiments proved that,compared to SA/BG hydrogel,G-DFO-SA/BG hydrogel had a faster mass loss and structural *** the hydrogels were implanted subcutaneously,G-DFO-SA/BG hydrogel possessed a faster degradation and better tissue infiltration as compared to SA/BG *** addition,in a rat full-thickness skin defect model,wound healing studies showed that,G-DFO-SA/BG hydrogel significantly accelerated wound healing process by inducing more blood vessels ***,G-DFO-SA/BG hydrogel can promote tissue infiltration and stimulate angiogenesis formation,which suggesting a promising application potential in tissue regeneration.

ZSM-5 zeolite was synthesized in a super-concentrated system using different kinds of surfactants. The ZSM-5 samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR and BET techniques. The surfactant could change the properties of ZSM-5 zeolite, including the crystallinity, the crystal grain size, the surface area, the pore volume and the Si/Al mole ratio.

A paleomagnetic study was carried out on the Yangzhuang Formation (~1350 Ma) of the Jixian System in the North China Block (NCB). Detailed stepwise thermal demagnetization isolated two components. The soft compo- nent (component A) was interpreted as a remagnetization in the recent geomagnetic field. The hard component (compo- nent B) with higher unblocking-temperatures was carried by hematite. Its site-mean direction is D/I = 77.6°/-24.3° (κ = 5.4, α95 = 18.3°, N = 15 sites) before, and D/I = 72.2°/11.5° (κ = 24.6, α95 = 7.9°) after tilt correction. It passes a fold test (Mesozoic folding) at 99% confidence level and reversal test at 95% confidence level. The corresponding pole locates at 17.3°N, 214.5°E (dp = 4.1°, dm = 8.0°). A best fit of paleo- magnetic poles from the NCB, Baltica, Siberia and the ap- parent polar wander path for Laurentia suggests a long-lived connection between these paleo-continents between ~1800 and 1350 Ma.

In an answer to the challenge of enzymatic instability and low oral bioavailability of proteins/peptides, a new type of drug-delivery vesicle has been developed. The preparation, based on sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and β-cyclodextrin(β-CD) embedded in chitosan gel, was used to successfully deliver the model drug-insulin. The self-assembled SDS/β-CD vesicles were prepared and characterized by particle size, zeta potential, appearance, microscopic morphology and entrapment efficiency. In addition, both the interaction of insulin with vesicles and the stability of insulin loaded in vesicles in the presence of pepsin were *** vesicles were crosslinked into thermo-sensitive chitosan/β-glycerol phosphate solution for an in-situ gel to enhance the dilution stability. The in vitro release characteristics of insulin from gels in media at different p H values were investigated. The insulin loaded vesicles–chitosan hydrogel(IVG) improved the dilution stability of the vesicles and provided p H-selective sustained release compared with insulin solution–chitosan hydrogel(ISG). In vitro, IVG exhibited slow release in acidic solution and relatively quick release in neutral solutions to provide drug efficacy. In simulated digestive fluid, IVG showed better sustained release and insulin protection properties compared with ISG. Thus IVG might improve the stability of insulin during its transport in vivo and contribute to the bioavailability and therapeutic effect of insulin.

The psychological and neural mechanisms of consciousness are among the most baffling problems in cognitive neuroscience. In this field,visual awareness is a topic that has been largely investigated,due to easy manipulation and measurable effects. The present arti-cle begins with the phenomena of dissociations between visual awareness and visual stimulus,visual awareness and visual attention,as well as visual awareness and vision-guided behavior,along with the corresponding experimental evidence. Furthermore,the neural mechanism of visual awareness is also discussed. It has been generally believed that visual awareness is the function of higher-order cerebral areas; however,recent discoveries have demonstrated that feedback from higher-to lower-order cortex areas is necessary for generating consciousness. The present article presents an in-depth analysis regarding this feedback process,and exploring its relation-ship with the generation and mechanisms of consciousness. Finally,theoretical controversies and discrepancies,as well as result con-flicts from various studies,have been collected,compared and discussed. Because the field of consciousness continues to be an extremely mysterious and complicated psychological phenomenon,there is a great need for further studies to explore and clarify this topic.

BACKGROUND： According to previous studies, the neuroprotective effect of the pedicled greater omentum may be attributed to the secretion of neurotrophic factors and stimulation of angiogenesis. The neurotrophic factors released from the pedicled greater omentum, such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor and neurotrophin 3/4/5 could exert a neuroprotective effect on the damaged host neural and glial cells, and also could induce the transdifferentiation of transplanted bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells （BMSCs） into neural cells. OBJECTIVE： Based on the functions of the omentum of neuro-protection and vascularization, we hypothesize that the transplantation of BMSCs and pedicled greater omentum into injured rat spinal cord might improve the survival rate and neural differentiation of transplanted BMSCs and consequently gain a better functional outcome. DESIGN, TIME AND SETFING： A randomized, controlled animal experiment. The experiments were carried out at the Department of Anatomy, the Secondary Military Medical University of Chinese PLA between June 2005 and June 2007. MATERIALS： Fifteen male inbred Wistar rats, weighing （200±20） g, provided by the Experimental Animal Center of the Secondary Military Medical University of Chinese PLA were used and met the animal ethical standards. Mouse anti-BrdU and mouse anti-NF200 monoclonal antibody were purchased from Boster, China. METHODS： Cell culture： We used inbred Sprague-Dawley rats to harvest bone marrow for culture of BMSCs and transplantation to avoid possible immune rejection. BMSCs were cultured via total bone marrow adherence. Experimental grouping and intervention： The rats were randomly divided into a control group, cell group and combined group, five rats per group. Reliability of Relative Paleointensity Recorded in Chinese Loess-Paleosol Sediments

A detailed paleomagnetic and rock-magnetic investigation spanning loess L7 to paleosol S8 has been carried out at the Baoji and Xifeng sections. Results of anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility confirm that the studied loess-paleosol sediments retain primary sedimentary fabrics. Stepwise thermal demagnetization shows that two well-defined magnetization components can be isolated from both loess and paleosol specimens. A low-temperature component, isolated between 100°C and 200°C, is consistent with the present geomagnetic field direction, and a high-temperature component, isolated between 200-300°C and 620-680°C, includes clearly normal and reversed polarities. Isothermal remanent magnetization and thermomagnetic analyses indicate that characteristic remanent magnetization is mainly carried by magnetite and hematite. The Day plot, together with the stratigraphic variations of rock-magnetic parameters, shows that the uniformity of magnetic mineralogy and grain size fulfills the criteria for relative paleointensity （RPI） studies. RPI records have been constructed using natural remanent magnetization （NRM） intensity after thermal demagnetization at 300°C normalized by low-frequency magnetic susceptibility （NRM 300 /χ）. The results show that the RPI record from the Baoji section, where pedogenesis is quite weak, is compatible with the stacked PISO-1500 paleointensity record, suggesting that it might reflect the paleointensity variation of the geomagnetic field. The RPI record from the Xifeng section, where pedogenesis is rather strong, indicates a clear dissimilarity with the stacked PISO-1500 paleointensity record, implying that it does not reflect the paleointensity variation of the geomagnetic field. Our new results show that the NRM 300 /χ from the strongly pedogenetic paleosols does not completely eliminate the pedogenetic （climatic） influence, so it might be unsuitable for a reliable paleointensity study.
