Previous studies have demonstrated the important role of taurine in inhibiting proliferation of myofibrob lasts（myoFb） and myocardial fibrosis. However, the underlying mechanisms are unclear. The present study was de signed to shed light on this issue through exploring the signal pathways via in vitro experiments. Angiotension II （AngII） treatment significantly increased myoFb proliferation and the levels of collagens I and III（P〈0.05）, whereas taurine, PKCα（PKC： protein kinase C） specific inhibitor L-threo-dihydro-sphingosine（D4681., ERK1.2 inhibitor （PD98095） abrogated myoFb proliferation and collagen levels（P〈0.05, P〈0.01. respectively）, and increased the G0/G1.phase rate and decreased S phase rate. Immunocytochemistry, confocal fluorescence staining and image analy sis showed that taurine could inhibit the translocation and expression of p-PKCαin membrane, and then inhibit nuc lear translocation and expression of p-ERK1.2. These results have statistically significant differences compared with those of AngII group（P〈0.01.. Western blot results also show that taurine could inhibit the protein expression of p-PKCα and p-ERK1.2. We used p-PKCα specific inhibitor D4681.in order to elucidate the relationship between p-PKCα and p-ERK1.2 in signal transduction pathways. Finally, the results show that the protein expression of p-ERK1.2 and nuclear translocation were suppressed in D4681.group.

The interfacial structure between the room-temperature ionic liquid, 1.butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate (BMIM+/PF6-) and rutile (1.0) surface is simulated by classical molecular dynam-ics simulation, aiming to model a crucial constituent of the electrolyte/semiconductor interface. The simulation results show several enhanced layers forming in the interfacial region, especially for the anions. A well ordered double layering structure of the ions is also observed in the interfacial region. The cations are found to organize themselves in a parallel alignment with respect to the TiO2 slab, with an obvious elongation of the side chains.

A series of highly ordered N-F-codoped TiO2 nanotubes were synthesized with a simple template technique and the obtained samples were detected by FE-SEM and XPS. The UV-Vis absorption spectrum showed that after N-F-codoping,TiO2 nanotubes had a new absorption band at 425 nm,leading to a photoresponse in the visible region. These modified nanotubes showed a significant visibleinduced photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution.

Based on the geo-temperature data of 1. systematically continuous temperature log curves and 700 testing oil boreholes in Jiyang depression, Shengli Oilfield, and the measured thermal conductivities of 47 rock samples, the terrestrial heat flow densities of 1.4 boreholes of Jiyang depression and its surrounding areas are determined, including 1. of those data derived from systemically continuous temperature logging. The results show that Jiyang depression has a relatively high background heat flow with an average value (65.8 5.4) mW/m2. The lateral variation of heat flow in basin has negative correlation with basement depth. Moreover, heat flow of uplift areas with shallower basement is high, so are those of regions with volcanic rocks, and those of depression areas with deep basement are relatively low. The heat flow densities of different structural units of Jiyang depression can be summarized as follows: The average heat flow value of Zhanhua sag is (67.4 5.3) mW/m2, higher than that of the whole basin, that of Dongying sag is (66.0 6.1. mW/m2, and that of Chezhen sag is (65.1.3.7) mW/m2. It is apparent that these latter two values are approximate to the average value of the whole Jiyang depression, while the average value of Huimin sag is (63.65.0) mW/m2, lower than that of the whole basin. In fact, the basement depth and the distribution framework of uplift and depression areas are all controlled by the process of lithosphere extension. In addition, the distribution of volcanic rocks in basin is also relatively close to this extension geodynamic process. In summary, the distribution characteristics of terrestrial heat flow of Jiyang depression is determined by the Cenozoic tectono-thermal events of this region.

A core-shell Rhodamine B-doped SiO2 nanoparticle was synthesized and its fluorescent intensity was found to be 1.00 times higher than that of individual Rhodamine B molecule. The doped nanoparticles were further conjugated with streptavidin and the resulting nanoparticles were used in the detection of reverse-phase protein microarrays, in which human IgG of various concentrations was first immobilized on aldehyde-modified glass slides and then biotinlyated goat anti human IgG as well as the labeled nanoparticles were sequentially conjugated. The calibration curve is linear over the range from 800 fg to 500 pg and the limit of detection is 1.0 fg, which is 8 times lower than that of streptavidin-labeled Cy3 fluorescent dyes. The dyedoped SiO2 nanoparticles show potentials for the protein array detection.

Polarizable electrodes of electric double layer capacitor (EDLCs) were made from carbon nanotubes. Effects of different binders, which are phenolic resin (PF) and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), on the properties of polarizable electrodes are studied. Results indicate that the microstructure, pore size distribution and specific capacitance of the electrodes with PTFE binder are superior to those electrodes with PF binder after carbonization. The suitable binder (PTFE) for carbon nanotubes electrodes is proposed.

In view of river functions and the Minimum Water Demand for River Ecosystem (MWDRE), the water resources in the Lower Yellow River is further divided into three portions, i.e. water available for ecosystem (WE), water exploitable for socioeconomic purposes (WS) and excess flood water (WF). Corresponding conceptions and practical significances are expounded in details. The annual amount of the three portions of water resources from 1.50 to 2001.is worked out on the basis of the daily hydrologic data, and the division of different portions is discussed. The results indicate that although the essential water demand for river functions is considered preferentially, the amount of the WE has decreased dramatically while its proportion increased gradually since the 1.50s, and the shortage to the MWDRE increased markedly; both the amount and the proportion of the WS decreased notably. Since the 1.90s, the actual water consumption for socioeconomic purposes in the lower reaches of the river basin has already exceeded the maximum amount of the WS and has to take over the WE which is already insufficient, hence not only the normal river functions are further disturbed and the river course shrinks greatly, but also the proportion and potential danger of the WF show no decreasing tendency in spite of the sharp decrease of upstream runoff.

An array electrode technique was developed as a novel electrochemical method for studying the interaction between macrocell and microcell in the early corrosion process of reinforcing steel in cement *** corrosion potential and galvanic current of macrocell corrosion of the reinforcing steel in cement mortar were imaged by the array electrode technique during the corrosion initiation and *** was certified that the corrosion macrocell current is closely related with the difference of corrosion potential between the anodic and cathodic *** corrosion macrocell and microcell always exist during the corrosion *** interaction of corrosion macrocell and corrosion microcell of steel in concrete was directly sensed by the array electrode for the first time,and was discussed in terms of corrosion electrochemistry.
