Due to the non-linearity in ozone(O_(3))formation,reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))may increase O_(3) *** the counteractive O_(3) response to NO_(x) reduction,overall impact of air pollution controls can be ambiguous when the assessments focus on the changes in pollutant *** this study,a risk-based method was used to gauge the net effect of air pollution controls on mortality risk in the beijing–Tianjin–h.b.i(bTh)region during the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics(WOP).This mega-event presents a unique opportunity to investigate the efficacy of deep cuts in pollutant *** show that O_(3) concentrations greatly increased as nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))concentrations decreased in the *** to the active photochemical formations,O_(3) became the dominant pollutant that affected human health during the *** the substantial O_(3) increases,the health.b.nefits of NO_(2) reductions overwhelmed the adverse health effects of O_(3) increases in most regions of the bTh(at 81 out of 112 stations).After considering the impacts of particulate matter,the integrated health risk of air pollution mixtures declined almost everywhere in the *** results underscore the great necessity of changing the assessment paradigm of pollution control from using concentration-based methods to using risk-based *** with the carbon neutrality policy,stringent control of NO_(x)emission from combustion sources is a promising way to achieve synergistic control solutions for air pollution and climate change.

hDPairFinder:A data processing platform for hydrogen/deuterium isotopic labeling-based nontargeted analysis of trace-level amino-containing chemicals in environmental water

The combination of hydrogen/deuterium(h/D)formaldehyde-based isotopic methyl labeling with solid-phase extraction and high-performance liquid chromatography–high resolution mass spectrometry(hPLC-hRMS)is a powerful analytical solution for nontargeted analysis of trace-level amino-containing chemicals in water *** the huge amount of chemical information generated in hPLC-hRMS analysis,identifying all possible h/Dlabeled amino chemicals presents a significant challenge in data *** address this,we designed a streamlined data processing pipeline that can automatically extract h/D-labeled amino chemicals from the raw hPLC-hRMS data with high accuracy and ***,we developed a cross-correlation algorithm to correct the retention time shift resulting from deuterium isotopic effects,which enables reliable pairing of h-and D-labeled ***,we implemented several bioinformatic solutions to remove false chemical features generated by in-source fragmentation,salt adduction,and natural13C ***,we used a data mining strategy to construct the AMINES library that consists of over 38,000 structure-disjointed primary and secondary amines to facilitate putative compound ***,we integrated these modules into a freely available R program,*** rationale of each module was justified and its performance tested using experimental h/D-labeled chemical standards and authentic water *** further demonstrated the application of hDPairFinder to effectively extract N-containing contaminants,thus enabling the monitoring of changes of primary and secondary N-compounds in authentic water *** is a reliable bioinformatic tool for rapid processing of h/D isotopic methyl labeling-based nontargeted analysis of water samples,and will facilitate a better understanding of N-containing chemical compounds in water.

In situ TEM investigation of electron irradiation and aging-induced high-density nanoprecipitates in an Mg-10Gd-3Y-1Zn-0.5Zr alloy

In-situ electron irradiation and aging are applied to introduce high-density precipitates in an Mg-10Gd-3Y-1Zn-0.5Zr(GWZ1031K,wt.%)alloy to improve the *** results show that the hardness of the Mg alloy after irradiation for 10 h and aging for 9 h at 250℃ is 1.64 GPa,which is approximately 64% higher than that of the samples before being *** is mainly attributed to γ'precipitates on the basal plane after irradiation and the high-density nanoscale β'precipitates on the prismatic plane after aging,which should be closely related to the irradiation-induced homogenous *** latter plays a key role in precipitation *** result paves a way to improve the mechanical properties of metallic materials by tailoring the precipitation through irradiation and aging.

Efficient and selective recovery of Gd(Ⅲ)via polyethyleneimine modification of lanthanum-based metal-organic frameworks

With the development of the economy and the increasing demand for environmental protection,the efficient and selective recovery of Gd(Ⅲ)from actual wastewater is of critical *** this work,lanthanum-based metal-organic framework(LabDC)materials were prepared by a hydrothermal method,and then polyethyleneimine(PEI)and LabDC were combined by an impregnation method to form a novel LabDC@xPEI *** prepared materials were characterized using Fourier transfo rm infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),b runauer-Emmett-Teller(bET),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Experiments show that LabDC@50%PEI has the highest adsorption capacity(181.77 mg/g)among lanthanum-based MOFs with different PEI loadings at ph=5.5,which is about 5.1 times that of bare *** adsorption isotherm analysis shows that LabDC@50%PEI follows the Langmuir *** addition,the adsorption kinetics of LabDC@50%PEI follows a pseudo-second-order kinetic model,indicating that the adsorption process is chemical *** is worth noting that LabDC@50%PEI maintains good adsorption performance and stability after three recycling tests,and exh.b.ts excellent selectivity in cation interference ***,the LabDC@50%PEI composites possess good stability and hold great promises in rapid recovery of Gd(Ⅲ)from practical aqueous environments.

Transcriptomics and physiological analyses reveal that sulfur alleviates mercury toxicity in rice(Oryza sativa L.)

Mercury(hg)is one of the most dangerous contaminants and has sparked global concern since it poses a health risk to humans when consumed through ***(S)is a crucial component for plant growth,and S may reduce hg accumulation in rice ***,the detailed effects of S and the mechanisms underlying S-mediated responses in hg-stressed rice plants remain ***,to investigate the effects of S addition on rice growth,hg accumulation,physiological indexes,and gene expression profiles,rice seedlings were hydroponically treated with hg(20μmol/L hg Cl_(2))and hg plus elemental sulfur(100 mg/L).S application significantly reduced hg accumulation in hg-stressed rice roots and alleviated the inh.b.tory effects of hg on rice growth.S addition significantly reduced hg-induced reactive oxygen species generation,membrane lipid peroxidation levels,and activities of antioxidant enzymes while increasing glutathione content in *** analysis of roots identified 3,411,2,730,and 581 differentially expressed genes in the control(CK)***,CK ***+S,and hg ***+S datasets,*** pathway of S-mediated biological metabolism fell into six groups:biosynthesis and metabolism,expression regulation,transport,stimulus response,oxidation reduction,and cell wall *** majority of biological process-related genes were upregulated under hg stress compared with CK treatment,but downregulated in the hg+S *** results provide transcriptomic and physiological evidence that S may be critical for plant hg stress resistance and will help to develop strategies for reduction or phytoremediation of hg contamination.

Fireworks(FW)could significantly worsen air quality in short term during *** to similar tracers with.b.omass burning(bb),the fast and precise qualification of FW and bb is still *** this study,online bulk and single-particle measurements were combined to investigate the contributions of FW and bb to the overall mass concentrations of PM_(2.5)and specific chemical species by positive matrix factorization(PMF)during the Chinese New Year in hong Kong in February *** combined information,fresh/aged FW(abundant ^(140)K_(2)NO_(3)^(+)and ^(213)K_(3)SO_(4)^(+)formed from ^(113)K_(2)Cl^(+)discharged by fresh FW)can be extracted from the fresh/aged bb sources,in addition to the Second Aerosol,Vehicles+Road Dust,and Sea Salt *** contributions of FW and bb were investigated during three high particle matter episodes influenced by the pollution transported from the Pearl River Delta *** fresh.b./FW contributed 39.2%and 19.6%to PM_(2.5)during the Lunar Chinese New Year ***,the contributions of aged FW/bb enhanced in the last two episodes due to the aging process,evidenced by high contributions from secondary ***,the fresh.b./FW showed more significant contributions to nitrate(35.1%and15.0%,respectively)compared with sulfate(25.1%and 5.9%,respectively)and OC(14.8%and11.1%,respectively)on *** comparison,the aged FW contributed more to sulfate(13.4%).Overall,combining online bulk and single-particle measurement data can combine both instruments’advantages and provide a new perspective for applying source apportionment of aerosols using PMF.

In this paper,Let M_(n)denote the maximum of logarithmic general error distribution with parameter v≥***-order expansions for distributions of powered extremes M_(n)^(p)are derived under an optimal choice of normalizing *** is shown that M_(n)^(p),when v=1,converges to the Frechet extreme value distribution at the rate of 1/n,and if v>1 then M_(n)^(p)converges to the Gumbel extreme value distribution at the rate of(loglogn)^(2)=(log n)^(1-1/v).

Stimulation and imaging of neural cells via photonic nanojets

Various neuromodulation techniques have been developed to modulate the peak activity of neurons, thereby regulating brain function and alleviating neurological disorders. Additionally, neuronal stimulation and imaging have significantly contributed to the understanding and treatment of these diseases. here, we propose utilizing photonic nanojets for optical stimulation and imaging of neural cells. The application of resin microspheres as microlenses enhances fluorescence imaging of neural lysosomes, mitochondria, and actin filaments by generating photonic nanojets. Moreover, optical tweezers can precisely manipulate the microlenses to locate specific targets within the cell for real-time stimulation and imaging. The focusing capabilities of these microlenses enable subcellular-level spatial precision in stimulation, allowing highly accurate targeting of neural cells while minimizing off-target effects. Furthermore, fluorescent signals during neural cell stimulation can be detected in real-time using these microlenses. The proposed method facilitates investigation into intercellular signal transmission among neural cells, providing new insights into the underlying mechanisms of neuronal cell activities at a subcellular level.

Precise immobilization of metal single atoms into a porphyrinic metal-organic framework for an efficient alkene hydrosilylation

Alkene hydrosilylation is one of the most concise and atom-economical methods to synthesize organosilicon ***,we reported the precise immobilization of metal single atoms(M-SAs;M=Ru,Rh,Ir,Pd,Pt,and Au)into a porphyrinic metalorganic framework(MOF)of PCN-222(PCN=porous coordination network),and then applied the resultant MOF composites of M-SAs@PCN-222 to alkene *** solvent-free conditions,Pt-SAs@PCN-222 displayed an especially high catalytic efficiency with the turnover frequency up to 119 s−1 and the maximum turnover number of 906,250 at room *** and theoretical studies revealed that there existed strong interactions between Pt-SAs@PCN-222 and the substrates,which helped to condense the substrates in the cavities of the porous *** density functional theory calculations and molecular dynamics simulations disclosed that PCN-222 could transfer electrons to Pt-SAs to enhance the silane oxidative addition and drive the reaction to proceed smoothly via Chalk–harrod pathway.
