A simple model of the closely packed structure for system of hard-sphere particles interacting via the long-range Newtonian type attraction is suggested. Based on density functional theory, the exact equation of state is obtained and the mutual transformations of the crystal structures in such systems are studied. The description takes into account the fact impossibility of hard-sphere particles which have the same spatial occupation place.

This paper presents an extension of mathematical static model to dynamic problems of micropolar elastic plates, recently developed by the authors. The dynamic model is based on the generalization of Hellinger-Prange-Reissner (HPR) variational principle for the linearized micropolar (Cosserat) elastodynamics. The vibration model incorporates high accuracy assumptions of the micropolar plate deformation. The computations predict additional natural frequencies, related with the material microstructure. These results are consistent with the size-effect principle known from the micropolar plate deformation. The classic Mindlin-Reissner plate resonance frequencies appear as a limiting case for homogeneous materials with no microstructure.

A selection of a number of geophysical methods to solve different geological, geodynamical, environmental, archaeological and other problems usually has no theoretical substantiation. The solution to this “four color” mathematical problem is able to assume that two independent geophysical methods are sufficient theoretically to characterize the geological-geophysical peculiarities of the area under study.

Invaluable data can at times be overlooked or not fully exploited when first collected. Striking conclusions can often be drawn on the basis of a specific analysis many years later. The Apollo 11 - 17 missions (1961-1972) provided detailed information on lunar basalts which make it possible to measure the iron grains in basalts from microphotographs of thin sections. Analysis of the average size of these grains (d) differed as a function of the age of these basalts dated between 3.9 and 3.4 billion years ago, revealed that d increased 1.5 fold, therefore the gravity acceleration g decreased 1.5 fold. The intriguing conclusion can only be that the size of the Moon increased, its mass decreased, or both these factors have changed.

Exploration of the climate change impact on wind energy is a focus of scientific analysis and research in many countries around the world. Previous studies have demonstrated that over the last three decades measured wind in the boundary and surface layer of the atmosphere has changed all over the globe. However, effects of climate change on the wind energy sector of Russia are not well explored. Therefore, the Russian climate change research needs to focus on improving the analysis and prediction of wind characteristics that are most relevant to Russia’s wind energy development. This paper analyzes the effects of global climate change on the patterns of the general circulation of the atmosphere, large-scale atmospheric temperature field and dynamics, as well as wind speed in the planetary boundary layer and, in particular, in the atmospheric surface layer, with regards to Russia’s geographical location and its climatic characteristics. This paper also explores and discusses current areas of climate change research relevant for estimating the wind energy potential in Russia. Two areas of research are emphasized: study of the impact of global warming on poleward shifts of the large-scale synoptic eddies which strongly affect the weather patterns and wind field over large territories;and the study of the effects of ice melting in Arctic seas which significantly alter the properties of the underlying surface and, thus, speed and direction of wind in the surface layer.

In this paper we consider a model in which the masses of elementary particles are formed and stabilized thanks to confining potential, which is caused by recoil momentum at emission of specific virtual bosons by particle itself. The calculation of this confining potential Ф(R) is carried out. It is shown that Ф(R) may be in the form const or const depending on continuous or discrete nature of the spectrum of emitted bosons.

Two-step synthesis of Y2O3:Eu nanostructures was *** includes microwave driven hydrothermal and calcination *** route results in crystallization of Y4O(OH)g(NO3):Eu crystals initially,then Y2O3:Eu crystals after *** Eu contents in relation to overall cation quantity were set to 2 mol%,10 mol%and 20 mol%.Varying europium concentrations influence habit of obtained Y4O(OH)g(NO3):Eu crystals from needle-like to plate-like and as a result,also shapes of final Y2O3:Eu ***,certain amount of Eu2+ions was detected in as-grown material using laser spectroscopy and decay kinetics *** material was calcined at 1200°C in the air,which results in oxidation of Eu2+ions and crystallization of small number of cubic EU2 O3 *** of obtained materials was performed using XRd,SEM,TEM,EdX,CL,Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy.

The self-gravitating systems a priory are non-equilibrium. The new approach, based on non-equilibrium statistical operator, which allows taking into account inhomogeneous distribution of particles and temperature, has been proposed. Such method employs a saddle point procedure to find dominant contributions to the partition function and permits to obtain all thermodynamic parameters of the system. Statistical induced dynamic and behavioral peculiarities of self-gravitating systems for different conditions have been predicted.
