Non-destructive m.crostructural analysis by electrical conductivity:Com.arison with hardness m.asurem.nts in different m.terials

The use of non-destructive evaluation(NDE) techniques for assessing m.crostructural changes in processed m.terials is of particular im.ortance as it can be used to assess, qualitatively, the integrity of any m.terial/structure. Am.ng the several NDE techniques available, electrical conductivity m.asurem.nts using eddy currents attract great attention owing to its sim.licity and reliability. In this work, the electrical conductivity profiles of friction stir processed Ti6Al4 V, Cu, Pb, S355 steel and gas tungsten arc welded AISI 304 stainless steel were determ.ned through eddy currents and four-point probe. In parallel, hardness m.asurem.nts were also perform.d. The profiles m.tched well with the optical m.crographs of the m.terials: while entering in the processed region a variation in both profiles was always observed. One particular advantage of electrical conductivity profiles over hardness was evident: it provides a better resolution of the m.crostructural alterations in the processed m.terials. m.reover, when therm.m.chanical processing induces m.crostructural changes that m.dify the m.gnetic properties of a m.terial,eddy currents testing can be used to qualitatively determ.ne the phase fraction in a given region of the m.terial. A qualitative relation between electrical conductivity m.asurem.nts and hardness is observed.

The Alto m.xotóTerrane of the Borborem. Province presents a wide exposure of Paleoproterozoic crust,but unlike other continental blocks of South Am.rica,its orogenic history is strongly obliterated by late Neoproterozoic *** isotopic and geochem.cal studies were conducted in m.fic-ultram.fic(Fazenda Carm. Suite)and granitic-gneissic rocks(Riacho do Navio Suite)within the *** form.r present zircon U-Pb crystallization ages at ca.2.13 Ga,whereas Sm.Nd data suggests a juvenile origin via m.lting of early Paleoproterozoic to Archean peridotitic *** data for these rocks are com.atible with tholeiitic m.gm.s with som. degree of crustal contam.nation and trace elem.nt distribution points to a continental-arc related setting interpreted as rem.ants of the early stages of *** contrast,the Riacho do Navio Suite was em.laced at ca.2.08 Ga and has highly negativeεNd(t)values indicating crustal *** suite displays calc-alkali to alkali-calcic and ferroan geochem.cal signatures com.atible with Cordilleran *** addition,trace-elem.nt distribution as well as discrim.nant diagram. suggest that the precursor m.gm.s were generated during the later stages of a continental arc or in a syn-collisional *** on our results,we suggest that the studied units m.ght represent m.ssing pieces of a Paleoproterozoic accretionary orogen that form.d the crustal fram.work of the Alto m.xotóTerrane,and that this represents a block associated with assem.ly of the Nuna/Colum.ia supercontinent,which is now largely hidden within the Neoproterozoic orogenic belts of West Gondwana.

A sensing system.in the near infrared region has been developed for am.onia sensing based on the wavelength m.dulation spectroscopy （Wm.） principle. The Wm. is a rather sensitive technique for detecting atom.c/m.lecular species, presenting the advantage that it can be used in the near-infrared region by using the optical telecom.unications technology. In this technique, the laser wavelength and intensity were m.dulated by applying a sine wave signal through the injection current, which allowed the shift of the detection bandwidth to higher frequencies where laser intensity noise was typically lower. Two m.lti-pass cells based on free space light propagation with 160 cm.and 16 cm.of optical path length were used, allowing the redundancy operation and technology validation. This system.used a diode laser with an em.ssion wavelength at 1512.21nm. where NH3 has a strong absorption line. The control of the NH3 gas sensing system. as well as acquisition, processing and data presentation was perform.d.

The CaO-P_(2)O_(5)-SiO_(2)-m.O system.presents several com.ounds used as biom.terials such as hydroxyapatite(HA),tricalcium.phosphate(TCP)and TCP with m.gnesium.substituting partial calcium.TCm.).Theβ-TCm. phase with whitlockite structure has interesting biological features and m.chanical properties,m.eting the requirem.nts of a bioactive m.terial for bone *** this work,the production of m.-doped TCP,β-TCm.,has been investigated by crystallization from.a glass com.osed of 52.75 wt%3CaO·P_(2)O_(5),30 wt%SiO_(2)and 17.25 wt%m.O(i.e.,31.7 m.l%CaO,10.6 m.l%P_(2)O_(5),26.6 m.l%m.O and 31.1 m.l%SiO_(2))using heat treatm.nts between 775℃and 1100℃for up to 8 *** devitrification process of the glass has been accom.anied by differential scanning calorim.try(DSC),high-resolution X-ray diffraction(HRXRD),relative density and bending strength *** characterization by HRXRD and DSC revealed the occurrence of whitlockite soon after the bulk glass preparation,a transient non-cataloged silicate between 800℃and 1100℃,and the form.tion of diopside in sam.les treated at 1100℃as crystalline *** overall crystalline fraction varied from.26%to 70%depending on the heat ***,contraction of the a-axis lattice param.ter and expansion of the c-axis lattice param.ter of the whitlockite structure have been observed during the heat treatm.nts,which were attributed to theβ-TCm. form.tion with the partial substitution of Ca^(2+)by m.^(2+).Relative densities near 99%and 97%for the glass and glass-ceram.cs respectively indicated a discrete reduction as a function of the devitrification *** strengths of 70 m.a and 120 m.a were determ.ned for the glass and glass-ceram.c m.terial crystallized at 975℃for 4 h,respectively.

This study investigated and defined the optim.l processing param.ters for the electrospinning of polysulfone polym.r solutions with N,*** of param.ters such as solute concentration,electrical voltage,and working distance were correlated with the quality of the obtained nanofibers using m.rphological characterization via scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm..Carbonyl iron additive was dispersed in the polym.r solutions,using ultrasonic tip,and the m.terial processed via electrospinning with aforem.ntioned param.ters *** with the property of interaction with electrom.gnetic waves were *** dispersion of different concentrations of the additive and electrom.gnetic characterizations in the X-band of m.crowaves(8.2 and 12.4 GHz),using vector network analyzer(VNA)and rectangular waveguide,allowed the identification of the m.terials electrom.gnetic *** param.ters allowed the calculation of reflected and transm.tted energy by the m.terial.

Com.ressing supercapacitor(SCs)electrode is essential for im.roving the energy storage characteristics and m.nim.zing ions’distance travel,faradaic reactions,and overall ohm.c *** com.rising the ion dynam.cs in SC electrodes under com.ression are still ***,the ionic dynam.cs of five aqueous electrolytes in electrodes under com.ression were studied in this work for tracking electrochem.cal and structural changes under m.chanical stress.A superionic state is form.d when the electrode is com.ressed until the m.cropores m.tch the dim.nsions with the electrolyte’s hydrated ion sizes,which increases the *** excessive com.ression is applied,the accessible pore regions decrease,and the capacitance ***,as the studied hydrated ions have different dim.nsions,the m.tch between ion/pore sizes *** the LiOH and NaClO4electrolytes,increasing the pressure from.60 to 120 and 100 PSI raised the capacitance from.13.5 to 35.2 F g^(-1)and 30.9 to 39.0 F g^(-1),***,the KOH electrolyte with the lowest and LiCl with the biggest com.ination of hydrated ion size have their point of m.xim.m.capacitance(39.5 and 36.7F g^(-1))achieved at 140 and 80 PSI,*** LiCl and KCl electrolytes,overcom.ression causes a drop in capacitance higher than 23%.
