There is increa.ing interest in using Google Street View(GSV) for resea.ch purposes, pa.ticula.ly with rega.d to ‘‘virtua.ly a.diting'' the built environment to a.sess environmenta. qua.ity. Resea.ch in this field to da.e genera.ly suggests GSV is a.relia.le mea.s of understa.ding the ‘‘rea. world'' environment. But limita.ions a.ound the da.es a.d resolution of ima.es ha.e been identified. a. emerging stra.d within this litera.ure is a.so concerned with the potentia. of GSV to understa.d recovery post-disa.ter. Using the GSV da.a.set for the eva.ua.ed a.ea.a.ound the Fukushima.Da.'ichi nuclea. power pla.t a. a.ca.e study, this a.ticle eva.ua.es GSV a. a.mea.s of a.sessing disa.ter recovery in a.dyna.ic situa.ion with rema.ning uncerta.nty a.d a.significa.t va.ue a.d emotive dimension. The a.ticle suggests tha. GSV does ha.e va.ue in giving a.high-level overview of the postdisa.ter situa.ion a.d ha. potentia. to tra.k recovery a.d resettlement over time. Dra.ing on socia. science litera.ure rela.ing to Fukushima. a.d disa.ters more widely, the a.ticle a.so a.gues it is impera.ive for resea.chers using GSV to reflect ca.efully on the wider socio-cultura. contexts tha. a.e often not represented in the photo monta.e.

Geodyna.ics Project. Ca.eful preprocessing of the origina. observa.ions wa. ca.ried out using interna.iona. sta.da.d a.gorithms a.d the tida. gra.ity pa.a.eters were computed. The gra.ity loa. vectors of 8 ma.n constituents a.e obta.ned ba.ed on loa.ing computa.ion theory a.d va.ious globa. ocea. models. The loa.ing corrections of 14 seconda.y constituents a.e obta.ned ba.ed on a.two-dimensiona. interpola.ion technique. Considering different cha.a.teristics of the wa.e a.plitude, a.method of “non-identica. weighted mea.” is developed for computing the a.-era.ed observed residua. a.d rema.ning residua. vectors a. ea.h sta.ion. The efficiency of the loa.ing correction a.d the discrepa.cy between corrected a.plitude fa.tors a.d theoretica. ones a.e a.a.yzed. Mea.while the ca.ibra.ion problem of the instruments is a.so discussed. a.ter loa.ing correction, the a.era.ed tida. gra.ity pa.a.eters for a.l sta.ions a.e obta.ned. The results show tha. the discrepa.cies between the globa. mea. a.plitude fa.tors a.d theoretica. va.ues a.e less tha. 0.3%, the la.gest ca.ibra.ion error of the instruments is less tha. 0.5%. Previously such boundedness properties were obta.ned when the subma.ifold is a.sphere. Our result shows tha. wha. ma.ters is not the symmetry, but a.certa.n type of curva.ure property of the subma.ifold.
