Background:Tomato is the second most important vegetable around the *** processing of the fruit generates waste such as damaged tomatoes,pulp,skin,seeds,and tomato-derived products that contain valuable biomolecules with functional and technological *** fruit extracts,mainly from waste,possess bioactive molecules,such as lycopene,with important biological applications in some *** and approach:The objective of this review is to analyze,discuss and synthesize the technologies that have been used for the extraction and recovery of the main lycopene present in tomato *** revised methodologies expose valuable results in the number of carotenoids recovered through the application of solvents,microwave-assisted,ultrasound-assisted,enzymatic-assisted,extraction at high pressure,and supercritical ***,the challenges continue concerning the quality of extracted compounds,economic accessibility,industrial reproducibility,and environmental *** findings and conclusions:The tomato waste contains important bioactive molecules,which are of interest in the food,pharmacological,biotechnological,and cosmetic *** information revised in this contribution pretends to support new research lines concerning the formulation of novel tomato waste bio-based functional ***,it is necessary to further analyze the new extraction and recovery conditions to keep the functional properties of this by-product.

The role of copper element has been an increasingly relevant topic in recent years in the fields of human and animal health, for both the study of new drugs and innovative food and feed supplements. This metal plays an important role in the central nervous system, where it is associated with glutamatergic signaling, and it is widely involved in inflammatory processes. Thus, diseases involving copper(Ⅱ) dyshomeostasis often have neurological symptoms, as exemplified by Alzheimer's and other diseases(such as Parkinson's and Wilson's diseases). Moreover, imbalanced copper ion concentrations have also been associated with diabetes and certain types of cancer, including glioma. In this paper, we propose a comprehensive overview of recent results that show the importance of these metal ions in several pathologies, mainly Alzheimer's disease, through the lens of the development and use of copper chelators as research compounds and potential therapeutics if included in multi-target hybrid drugs. Seeing how copper homeostasis is important for the well-being of animals as well as humans, we shortly describe the state of the art regarding the effects of copper and its chelators in agriculture, livestock rearing, and aquaculture, as ingredients for the formulation of feed supplements as well as to prevent the effects of pollution on animal productions.

Study on textile waste generation in the undifferentiated municipal solid waste stream in Guimarães,Portugal

Guimarães is a middle sized city and municipality located in northern *** municipality has committed to reducing the annual amount of undifferentiated municipal solid waste(MSW)from 371 kg/capita in 2021 to 120 kg/capita by 2030 under the Zero Waste Cities Certification *** the municipality of Guimarães,one of the constant fractions of MSW composition is textile waste(TW),which the revised EU Waste Framework Directive requires separate collection by 1 January ***,two indicators of TW generation were analysed to identify waste collection routes with a high level of textile waste generation for the priority implementation of separate collection:TW composition in the undifferentiated MSW stream and TW generation per *** statistical analysis methods were used to process the source data of TW composition in the undifferentiated MSW *** analysis was applied to the data set on TW generation per capita,considering the area typology(urban,rural or mixed)of collection *** was considered that 39%of the industrial sector of Guimarães consists of textile and clothing production and represents small-and medium-sized enterprises,which can affect TW generation in the undifferentiated MSW ***-comparative research was used to define the correlation between TW generation per capita and the economic activity of the textile and clothing industry in the *** a result,applying a multi-disciplinary approach,a project of the Textile Waste Generation Map was presented.

Recent reports suggest that aging is not solely a physiological process in living beings;instead, it should be considered a pathological process or disease(Amorim et al., 2022). Consequently, this process involves a wide range of factors, spanning from genetic to environmental factors, and even includes the gut microbiome(GM)(Mayer et al., 2022). All these processes coincide at some point in the inflammatory process, oxidative stress, and apoptosis, at different degrees in various organs and systems that constitute a living organism(Mayer et al., 2022;AguilarHernández et al., 2023).

Different La2O3 contents（0, 1, 2, 3, and 5 wt%） were used to prepared La2O3-ZrO2 mixed oxides calcined at 600 ℃ by the sol-gel method. The catalytic activity was measured as biodiesel production from canola oil through a transesterification reaction. The characterization results indicate that the La2O3 monolayer formation and extent of basicity of m-ZrO2 have a large influence on biodiesel *** biodiesel conversion（56% at 4 h） was obtained with the 3% La2O3-ZrO2 catalyst in the presence of basic sites and the formation of a monolayer of La2O3. The decrease in the catalytic activity for 5% La2O3-ZrO2 resulted from the loss of active sites on the catalyst because of agglomeration, which was suggested by XPS and the isoelectric point. The kinetic data fit to a pseudo-first order constant, and the largest kinetic constant corresponds to 3% La2O3-ZrO2, currently the largest heterogeneous non-alkaline metal catalyst reported for a transesterification reaction.

Solar radiation-based method for early design stages to balance daylight and thermal comfort in office buildings

There is a lack of facade design methods for early design stages to balance thermal comfort and daylight provision that consider the obstruction angle as an independent variable without using modeling and *** paper aims to develop easy-to use solar radiationbased prediction method for the design of office building facades(i.e.,design parameters:room size,window-to-floor ratio,and glazing thermal/optical properties)located in urban canyons to balance daylight provision according to the European standard EN 17037:2018 and thermal comfort through specific cooling *** used a simulation-based methodology that includes correlation analyses between building performance metrics and design parameters,the development of design workflows,accuracy analysis,and validation through the application of the workflows to a new development office building facades located in Tallinn,*** validation showed that the mean percentage of right/conservative predictions of thermal comfort classes is 98.8%whereas for daylight provision,it is higher than 75.6%.The use of the proposed prediction method can help designers to work more efficiently during early design stages and to obtain optimal performative solutions in much shorter time:window sizing in 73,152 room combinations in 80 s.
