A new testing methodology was developed to quantitively study galvanic corrosion of AZ31B and thermoset carbon-fiber–reinforced polymer spot-joined by a friction self-piercing riveting ***-defined areas of AZ31B in the joint were exposed in 0.1 M NaCl solution over *** galvanic corrosion of AZ31B was observed as exposure time *** measured volume loss was converted into corrosion current that was at least 48 times greater than the corrosion current of AZ31B without galvanic *** percent of the mechanical joint integrity was retained for corroded F-SPR joints to 200 h and then decreased because of the massive volume loss of AZ31B。

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined with bare or Zn-coated DP590 steel by ultrasonic spot welding or linear friction stir welding was quantitatively studied by pre-defining anode and cathode in the lap joint samples. Corrosion volume and depth from Mg anode surfaces exposed to 0.1 M sodium chloride solution was analyzed as functions of cathode surface type and welding method. Characterization of as-welded joints was performed to identify any microstructural feature of the bonding zone that could impact galvanic corrosion *** modeling with modified user subroutine was conducted to simulate the progression of Mg corrosion in the same joint and electrode configurations used for the corrosion experiments. The experimental results indicated that Zn-coated cathode surface can reduce Mg galvanic corrosion significantly as galvanic polarization and cathodic current on Zn-coated surface remained relatively low for Mg in the weld *** modeling described the growth of Mg galvanic corrosion in a reasonable manner but showed limitation by underestimating the corrosion volume as it did not capture self-corrosion.

Background:In recent years there have been reports of viral haemorrhagic fever(VHF)epidemics in sub-Saharan Africa where malaria is *** and malaria have overlapping clinical presentations making diferential diagno‑sis a *** objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of selected zoonotic VHFs and malaria co-infections among febrile patients seeking health care in ***:This facility-based cross-sectional study was carried out between June and November 2018 in Buhigwe,Kalambo,Kyela,Kilindi,Kinondoni,Kondoa,Mvomero,and Ukerewe districts in *** study involved febrile patients seeking health care from primary healthcare *** samples were collected and tested for infections due to malaria,Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever(CCHF),Ebola virus disease(EVD),Marburg virus disease(MVD),Rift Valley fever(RVF)and yellow fever(YF).Malaria infections were tested using rapid diagnostics tests while exposure to VHFs was determined by screening for immunoglobulin M antibodies using commercial enzyme-linked immuno‑sorbent *** Chi-square test was used to compare the ***:A total of 308 participants(mean age=35±19 years)were involved in the *** these,54(17.5%)had malaria infection and 15(4.8%)were positive for IgM antibodies against VHFs(RVF=8;CCHF=2;EBV=3;MBV=1;YF=1).Six(1.9%)individuals had both VHF(RVF=2;CCHF=1;EVD=2;MVD=1)and malaria *** highest co-infection prevalence(0.6%)was observed among individuals aged 46‒60 years(P<0.05).District was signifcantly associated with co-infection(P<0.05)with the highest prevalence recorded in Buhigwe(1.2%)followed by Kinondoni(0.9%)***(100%)and muscle,bone,back and joint pains(83.3%)were the most signifcant complaints among those infected with both VHFs and malaria(P=0.001).Conclusions:Co-infections of VHF and malaria are prevalent in Tanzania and afect more the older than the younger *** the overlapping symptoms in co-inf

Agreement of angle closure assessments between gonioscopy, anterior segment optical coherence tomography and spectral domain optical coherence tomography

AIM: To determine angle closure agreements between gonioscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT), as well as gonioscopy and spectral domain OCT(SD-OCT). A secondary objective was to quantify inter-observer agreements of AS-OCT and SD-OCT ***: Seventeen consecutive subjects(33 eyes)were recruited from the study hospital’s Glaucoma *** was performed by a glaucomatologist masked to OCT results. OCT images were read independently by 2 other glaucomatologists masked to gonioscopy findings as well as each other’s analyses of OCT ***: Totally 84.8% and 45.5% of scleral spurs were visualized in AS-OCT and SD-OCT images respectively(P <0.01). The agreement for angle closure between AS-OCT and gonioscopy was fair at k =0.31(95% confidence interval, CI: 0.03-0.59) and k =0.35(95%CI: 0.07-0.63) for reader 1 and 2 respectively. The agreement for angle closure between SD-OCT and gonioscopy was fair at k =0.21(95% CI: 0.07-0.49) and slight at k =0.17(95% CI: 0.08-0.42) for reader 1 and 2 respectively. The inter-reader agreement for angle closure in AS-OCT images was moderate at 0.51(95% CI: 0.13-0.88). The inter-reader agreement for angle closure in SD-OCT images was slight at 0.18(95% CI: 0.08-0.45).CONCLUSION: Significant proportion of scleral spurs were not visualised with SD-OCT imaging resulting in weaker inter-reader agreements. Identifying other angle landmarks in SD-OCT images will allow more consistent angle closure assessments. Gonioscopy and OCT imaging do not always agree in angle closure assessments but have their own advantages, and should be used together and not exclusively.

青光眼手术治疗方法已被分为睫状体破坏性(减少流入)或滤过性(增加流出)两大类。睫状体破坏性手术传统上用于视力预后差的青光眼以及难治性青光眼如外伤后、无晶状体眼、先天性青光眼和发育性青光眼。自从1992年Uram首次使用内窥镜下睫状体光凝术(endoscopic cyclo-photocoagulation,ECP)以来,短期和长期的转归已经表明ECP的应用前景广阔。本文在PubMed查询、复习有关ECP的英文文献,并与新加坡一所眼科三级医院的有限结果进行比较。文献报告显示出ECP及联合白内障超声乳化术的ECP在治疗小儿及成人严重的、各种病因所致的青光眼方面的安全性和有效性。这在新加坡某眼科三级医院未发表的短期结果中也有报告,与那些已经发表的结果是一致的。已发表的报告和当前的经验证明,可直视目标组织的ECP,通过内窥镜直视将合适的红外波长激光能量应用于目标组织睫状上皮细胞,避免了"盲目"状态下经巩膜睫状体光凝术所引起的并发症。但是引进这项技术存在着显著的经费困难。ECP在控制眼压和减少抗青光眼药物的依赖性方面是安全有效的。广泛接受和使用这一技术仍有待于大规模的随机对照研究。

Effects of primary glaucoma on sleep quality and daytime sleepiness of patients residing at an equatorial latitude

During the pandemic, technological innovation provided a platform with a range of uses, including in the healthcare industry. Technology is currently being used in vaccination drives run by many governments across the world to help spread vaccines quickly and efficiently. The technology makes healthcare personnel more effective at their professions and greatly raises the standard of service in the industry. The researchers undertook this study to create a suitable and long-lasting immunization database with a mapping method to give a better perspective of the immunization status. To gather essential information for this study, the researchers spoke with the local health officer in the targeted area. The obtained data then served as the basis for the system’s capabilities and features, becoming the target problems addressed by the developers. The investigation found that the majority of procedures and interactions are carried out manually and recorded on an unprotected, antiquated Excel spreadsheet. The researchers’ technology also shows to be a superior way to deal with the problems and difficulties while making their health-related transactions and operations quicker, safer, and much more effective.
