As lowering crude protein(CP)in poultry diets continues to minimize amino acid excess,it is important to understand the limiting order of amino acids and the impact of their ***,a pair of experiments were conducted to observe the effects of individual amino acid deletions on growth performance,carcass traits,and nutrient *** experiments involved 3 control diets based on wheat and soybean meal,including a 210.0 g/kg CP industry control(IC),186.7 g/kg CP positive control(PC)supplemented with feed-grade amino acids to match the IC amino acid profile,186.7 g/kg CP negative control(NC)with reducing N corrected apparent metabolizable energy(AMEN)by 0.5 MJ/kg and removing feed-grade amino acids beyond L-Lys-HCl,DL-Met,and L-Thr from *** deletion diets where the following supplemented amino acids were individually removed from the PC:val,Ile,Leu,Trp,Arg,His,Phe t Tyr,glycine equivalence(Glyequi),Pro,and Energy(0.5 MJ/kg reduction in AMEN of the PC).All diets were formulated to contain similar concentrations of digestible Lys,total sulfur amino acid(TSAA)and *** diets were offered to broiler chickens from 15 to 22 d postehatch in a cage study(Exp.1)to gain digestibility and nutrient utilization data;whereas they were offered from 15 to 35 d post ehatch in a floor-pen study(Exp.2)to gain performance and carcass yield *** removal of supplemented val,Arg,and Ile resulted in reduction on broiler performance(Pval of val,Arg,Ile,and Glyequi negatively influenced carcass traits(Pval and Arg are co-limiting in wheat-soybean meal diets,but that Ile and Glyequi may potentially limit breast and thigh development.

A new bimetallic complex containing Zn and La was prepared from a salen ligand possessing methoxyl groups at the 3, 3′-positions. The structural feature is that one of nitrate groups is disordered and displaced between two metal centers. Crystal system: Triclinic space group:P-1, Z=2. a=0.82714(17) nm, b=1.3484(3) (1) nm, and c=1 3898(3) (1) nm, α=79.89(3)°, β=76.67(3)°, and γ=72.43(3)°. v=1 428 6(5) nm3, Dx=1.812 g·cm-3. (Δρ)max=1 510×10-3 enm3, (Δρ)min=-1.503×10-3 enm3. Accordingly, two water molecules occupy the metal centers in the apical positions via the syn-geometry.

Capping dietary starch:protein ratios in moderately reduced crude protein,wheat-based diets showed promise but further reductions generated inferior growth performance in broiler chickens

The hypothesis that capping dietary starch:protein ratios would enhance the performance of broiler chickens offered reduced-crude protein(CP)diets was tested in this experiment.A total of 432 off-sex,male Ross 308 chicks were allocated to 7 dietary treatments from 7 to 35 d *** experimental design consisted of a 3×2 factorial array of treatments with the seventh treatment serving as a positive *** levels of dietary CP(197.5,180.0 and 162.5 g/kg)with either uncapped or capped dietary starch:protein ratios constituted the factorial array of treatments,whilst the positive control diet contained 215.0 g/kg *** positive control diet had an analysed dietary starch:protein ratio of 1.50 as opposed to a ratio of 1.68 in the uncapped 197.5 g/kg CP diet and 1.41 in the corresponding capped diet and the capped 197.5 g/kg CP diet displayed *** growth performance this diet matched the positive control but outperformed the uncapped 197.5 g/kg CP diet by 10.4%(2,161 vs.1,958 g/bird;P=0.009)in weight gain,by 3.10%(3,492 vs.3,387 g/bird;P=0.019)in feed intake on the basis of pairwise comparisons and numerically improved FCR by 4.04%(1.616 vs.12684).However,the growth performance of birds offered the 180.0 and 162.5 g/kg CP dietary treatments was remarkably inferior,irrespective of dietary starch:protein *** inferior growth performance was associated with poor feathering and even feather-pecking and significant linear relationships between feather scores and parameters of growth performance were *** amino acid profile of feathers was determined where cysteine,glutamic acid,glycine,proline and serine were dominant in a crude protein content of 931 g/***,the feathering issues observed were manifestations of amino acid inadequacies or imbalances in the more reduced-CP diets and consideration is given to the implications of these outcomes.

Protein digestive dynamics of meat and bone meals in broiler chickens

This study determined the variations in protein digestibilities and digestion rates in broiler chickens offered diets containing 7 different meat and bone meals(MBM).A total of 252 male Ross 308 broiler chickens were offered 7 atypical diets largely based on maize and MBM from 24 to 28 d *** experimental diet was offered to 6 replicates with 6 birds per replicate *** were collected in their entirety from 25 to 27 d post-hatch and on 28 d *** samples were collected from the proximal jejunum,distal jejunum,proximal ileum and distal *** digestibilities of protein were determined in each segment and apparent digestibilities of amino acids were measured in the distal *** were significant differences in apparent protein digestibility coefficients in the proximal jejunum(P=0.006),where broiler chickens offered the high ash beef meal(diet 7)generated the lowest protein digestibility in the proximal jejunum(0.318).Similarly,there were significant differences in apparent digestibility coefficients in the distal jejunum(Pved in the predicted protein digestion rate(P=0.486)but chickens offered the high ash beef meal had the lowest potential digestible protein(0.662,P=0.034)whereas the highest potential digestible protein(0.739)was detected in diet 5(containing a beef meal).This study contributed to the establishment of a preliminary database to include digestion rates of starch and protein into practical diet formulation.

Structural biology of the macroautophagy machinery

Macroautophagy is a conserved degradative process mediated through formation of a unique double- membrane structure, the autophagosome. The discovery of autophagy-related （Atg） genes required for autophagosome formation has led to the characterization of approximately 20 genes mediating this process. Recent structural studies of the Atg proteins have provided the molecular basis for their function. Here we summarize the recent progress in elucidating the structural basis for autophagosome formation.

Elevated temperature intensity,timing,and duration of exposure affect soybean internode elongation,mainstem node number,and pod number per plant

A study was conducted in four compartments of a polycarbonate greenhouse at Gainesville,FL, USA to investigate how a soybean(Glycine max L. Merr.) cultivar, Maverick(maturity group III, indeterminate), responded to three elevated temperatures, ELT,(day/night of 34/26 °C, 38/30 °C, and 42/34 °C) in comparison to a control growth temperature(30/22 °C).Carbon dioxide(CO_2) concentration was maintained at 700 μmol mol^(-1) in each compartment by a processor controlled air-sampling and CO_2-injection system. Three sequential experiments were conducted at different times of year(summer, autumn, and early spring)to investigate the effect of intensity, timing, and duration of ELT on soybean node number,internode elongation, mainstem length, and number of pods set per plant. At the control temperature, the soybean plants grown in the polycarbonate greenhouse were taller than field-grown plants. When plants were grown under continuous ELT applied soon after sowing or at initial flowering, the number of nodes increased with increasing ELT intensity,whereas the length of individual internodes decreased. When ELT treatment was applied during the beginning of flowering stage(R1–R2) or earlier, more nodes were produced and the length of affected internodes was decreased. When the ELT was imposed later at reproductive stage R5+ just before the beginning of seed filling, effects on node numbers and internode lengths were negligible. Short-term(10-day) duration of ELT applied at four stages from v3 to R5+ did not significantly affect final mean numbers of nodes or mean mainstem lengths. Possible mechanisms of elevated temperature effects on soybean internode elongation and node number(internode number) are discussed. Total pod numbers per plant increased linearly with mainstem node numbers and mainstem ***, total pod numbers per plant were greatest at 34/26 °C rather than at the control temperature of 30/22 °C(and remained high at 38/30 °C). Introduction:We sought to investigate whether the development of sub-pulmonic systolic anterior motion(SAM)may be inherent to the anatomy of the the mitral valve(Mv)or affected by external factors,such as a dilated right ventricle or chest abnormalities in d-looped transposition of the great arteries post atrial switch operation(d-TGA/AtS).Methods:Analysis was performed of clinical and cardiac imaging studies acquired on 19 adult patients with d-TGA/AtS(age 42±6 years old,56%male)between 2015–*** data included mitral apparatus anatomy,and CT/MRI data included biventricular dimensions,function,and Haller index(HI)for pectus ***:Patients with leaflet SAM(n=6)compared to patients without SAM(n=13)had higher Mv protrusion height(2.3±0.5 vs.1.5±0.4 cm,p≤0.01)and longer anterior Mv leaflet length(3.1±0.4 cm vs.2.6±0.3 cm p≤0.05),when compared to those ***/MRI showed higher sub-pulmonic left ventricular ejection fraction(LvEF)in the SAM group(71%±8%vs.54%±7%,respectively).Rv size and function,significant chest deformity(HI>3.5),presence of a ventricular lead pacemaker,and septal thickness did not play a role in development of ***:An elongated mitral apparatus is associated with the development of SAM,and the development of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction(LvOTO),in d-TGA/*** hyperkinesia is associated with *** Rv dimensions,septal thickness,and degree of chest deformity did not differ significantly between subjects with SAM and those without.

The lifetime of orthopaedic implants can be extended by coating the softer Ti6Al4v alloy with harder biocompatible thin *** this work,thin films of Ti_((1-x))Au_((x))are grown on Ti_(6)Al_(4)v and glass substrates by magnetron sputtering in the entire x=0-1 range,before their key biomechanical properties are performance tuned by thermal *** the first time,we explore the effect of in-situ substrate heating versus ex-situ post-deposition heat-treatment,on development of mechanical and biocompatibility performance in Ti-Au films.A~250% increase in hardness is achieved for Ti-Au films compared to bulk Ti6Al4v and a~40%improvement from 8.8 GPa as-grown to 11.9 and 12.3 GPa with in-situ and ex-situ heat-treatment respectively,is corelated to changes in structural,morphological and chemical properties,providing insights into the origins of super-hardness in the Ti rich regions of these materials.X-ray diffraction reveals that as-grown films are in nanocrystalline states of Ti-Au intermetallic phases and thermal activation leads to emergence of mechanically hard Ti-Au intermetallics,with films prepared by in-situ substrate heating having enhanced crystalline *** morphology images show clear changes in grain size,shape and surface roughness following thermal activation,while elemental analysis reveals that in-situ substrate heating is better for development of oxide free Ti3Auβ-*** tested Ti-Au films are non-cytotoxic against L929 mouse fibroblast cells,while extremely low leached ion concentrations confirm their *** peak hardness performance tuned to>12 GPa and excellent biocompatibility,Ti-Au films have potential as a future coating technology for load bearing medical implants.
