Underground constructions often encounter water environments,where water–rock interaction can increase porosity,thereby weakening engineering ***,the failure criterion for chemically corroded rocks becomes essential in the stability analysis and design of such *** study enhances the applicability of the hoek-Brown(h-B)criterion for engineering structures operating in chemically corrosive conditions by introducing a kinetic porosity-dependent instantaneous mi(KPIM).A multiscale experimental investigation,including nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),ph and ion chromatography analysis,and triaxial compression tests,is employed to quantify pore structural changes and their linkage with the strength responses of limestone under coupled chemical-mechanical(C-M)*** employing ion chromatography and NMR analysis,along with incorporating the principles of free-face dissolution theory accounting for both congruent and incongruent dissolution,a kinetic chemical corrosion model is *** model aims to calculate the kinetic porosity alterations within rocks exposed to varying h+concentrations and ***,utilizing the generalized mixture rule(GMR),the kinetic porositydependent mi is *** of the KPIM-enhanced h-B criterion using compression test data from 5 types of rocks demonstrated a high level of consistency between the criterion and the experimental results,with a coefficient of determination greater than 0.96,a mean absolute percentage error less than 4.84%,and a root-mean-square deviation less than 5.95 ***,the physical significance of the porosity-dependent instantaneous mi is clarified:it serves as an indicator of a rock’s capacity to leverage the confining pressure effect.

In the last two decades of the 20th century, there has been an increasing interest in and emphasis on the study of the hong Kong literature in both the academic and general public in hong Kong. Recognizing the emergent need of the resources on hong Kong literature, the University Library System of the Chinese University of hong Kong set up the hong Kong Literature Database (the “Database”), which was the first Chinese literature database in the Internet in 2000. The paper will examine how the database is constructed using XML technology and metadata schema. The database also employs Unicode UTF-8 as the internal code. A mapping table for traditional and simplified Chinese characters was created based on Unihan and is used behind the scene so that a user can either input traditional or simplified Chinese characters and retrieval will give both traditional and simplified Chinese characters. Currently 65% of journals use OCR technology so that full-text searching is possible. The Chinese OCR technology will be examined in greater detail. Special features of the Database such as, page-by-page browse mode, posi- tion-highlight for full-page newspaper, linking Table-Of-Contents and book jackets from the Library catalogue, etc. are described. The paper will also bring out the problem of massive downloading and compare the state-of-the-art technology and their short- comings. This paper shows how the hong Kong Literature Database facilitates future collaboration and data exchange by using open standard, shareable structure and the latest technology.

t This paper investigates the correlation and feedback relationships between the hong Kong hang Seng Index （hSI）, the hang Seng Chinese Enterprise Index （CEI） and the S＆P 500 Index （SP）. We divide the indexes into two separate periods, from the inception of the CEI in 1994 to the stock market crash in 2000, and from 2001 to 2011. Our results show that the feedback relationship between the CEI and the SP is stronger after 2000. As the feedback relationship grows stronger, the diversification benefit reduces for US investors who utilizes the CEI as a tool for diversifying into Chinese markets.

By means of the dimensional analysis a spherically simmetric universe with a mass M = c3/(2hG) and radius equal to c/h is considered, where h is the hubble constant, c the speed of light and G the Newton gravitational constant. The density corresponding to this mass is equal to the critical density ρcr = 3h2/(8πG). This universe evolves according to a Bondi-Gold-hoyle scenario, with continuous creation of matter at a rate such to maintain, during the expansion, the density always critical density. Using the Margolus-Levitin theorem and the Landauer’s principle, an entropy is associated with this universe, obtaining a formula having the same structure as the Bekenstein-hawking formula of the entropy of a black hole. Furthermore, a time-dependent cosmological constant Λ, function of the hubble constant and the speed of light, is proposed.

Signal transduction pathways activated by receptor tyrosine kinases （RTK） play a critical role in many aspects of cell function. Adaptor proteins serve an important scaffolding function that facilitates key signaling transduction events downstream of RTKs. Recent work integrating both structural and functional genomic approaches has identified several adaptor proteins as new oncogenes. In this review, we locus on the discovery, structure and function, and therapeutic implication of three of these adaptor oncogenes. CRKL. GAB2, and FRS2. Each of the three genes is recurrently amplified in lung adenocarcinoma or ovarian cancer, and is essential to cancer cell lines that harbor such amplification. Overexpression of each gene is able to transform immortalized human cell lines in in vitro or in vivo models. These observations identify adaptor protein as a distinct class of oncogenes and potential therapeutic targets.
