Understanding the Gap in Saudi Nurses’ Knowledge of Dementia, Depression and Delirium (the 3Ds), and investigating Their Relevant Experience: An Exploratory Study

Aim: This study aims at testing registered nurses’ knowledge while working at mental health facilities and general care hospitals, through an exploratory non-experimental study using a random sample of nurse population across Saudi health facilities. materials and methods: The study participants were asked to complete a questionnaire consisting of four sections. Section 1 consisted of 21 questions, requesting participants to provide their background and demographic information, followed by a delirium-knowledge-assessment questionnaire (Section 2) consisting of 15 questions of which eight of them required true/false answers, and the remaining questions were multiple-choice. in Section 3, the research tool was a dementia-knowledge-assessment survey consisted of 27 questions that required true/false answers to a given statement about dementia. in Section 4, the depression-knowledge assessment survey provided multiple-choice answers. A total of 265 registered staff nurses (SNs) were included in the study, and were chosen from three Saudi healthcare centers, with an age range of 24 - 57 years. The participants consisted of 73% females and 27% males. Results: The knowledge of delirium, among the sampled nurses, was not high (m = 6.8906, SD = 2.13363). The employing health center influenced the delirium knowledge significantly, in addition to the job title of the participant, and their highest level of education, in addition to the fact of whether the participant has an immediate family member who has ever been diagnosed with any of the 3Ds. The averages significantly differed across the study sample with immediate family members who have been diagnosed with any of the 3Ds and those without (ANOVA, p = 0.019). Similar to the delirium knowledge, dementia knowledge, among the study participants, was not high (m = 69.2576, SD = 11.29327), and was significantly influenced by the health center, each participant’s gender, nationality, job title, highest level of education, and t

Comparative Study of Self-Compacting Concrete with manufactured and Dune Sand

Sand is an inert element essential in the composition of concrete; its use ensures granular continuity between the cement and gravel for better cohesion of concrete. This paper presents the results of a study that investigated the influence of sand quality on the properties of fresh and hardened SCC （self-compacting concrete）. The dune sands are very fine materials characterized by a high intergranular porosity, high surface area and low fineness modulus; on the other hand crushed （manufactured） sand has a high rate into thin and irregular shapes which influence the workability of concrete. The amount of dune sand varies from （0%, 50% to 100%） by weight of fine aggregates. The results show that the rheological properties favour the use of dune sands; however the mechanical properties support the use of crushed sand.

Folfirinox in elderly patients with pancreatic or colorectal cancer-tolerance and efficacy

Aim To study the tolerance and the efficiency of FOLFiRiNOX in elderly patients diagnosed with colorectal or pancreatic *** This retrospective study included elderly patients aged over 70 years of age treated at Georges-Francois Leclerc Center by FOLFiRiNOX for histological proved colorectal or pancreatic cancer between January 2009 and January 2015. Chemotheapy regimen consisted of oxaliplatin(85 mg/m2 in over 120 min) followed by leucovorin(400 mg/m2 in over 120 min), with the addition, after 30 min of irinotecan(180 mg/m2 in over 90 min) then 5 fluorouracil(5FU)(400 mg/m2 administred intravenous bolus), followed by 5FU(2400 mg/m2 intraveinous infusion over 46 h) repeated every 2 wk. Geriatric parameters were recorded at the beginning. Toxicities were evaluated with the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events 4.03. Tumor response was evaluated by CT scan. Treatment continued until disease progression, unacceptable toxicities or patient *** Fifty-two patients aged from 70 to 87 years were treated by FOLFiRiNOX, 34 had colorectal cancer and 18 had pancreatic cancer. most of them were in good general condition, 82.7% had a 0-1 performance status and 61.5% had a Charlson Comorbidity index most frequent severe toxicities were neutropenia(17 patients, n = 32.7%) and diarrhea(35 patients n = 67.3%); 10 of the case of neutropenia and 5 of diarrhea registered a grade 4 toxicity. Thirty-nine patients(75%) initially received an adapted dose of chemotherapy. The dosage was adjusted for 26% of patients during the course of treatment. Tumor response evaluated by RECiST criteria showed a controlled disease for 25 patients(48.1%), a stable disease for 13 and a partial response for 12 patients. Time under treatment was higher for colorectal cancer with a median time of 2.44 mo(95%Ci: 1.61-3.25). Orexin receptors are found at high density in the ventrolateral periaqueductal gray matter（vl PAG）. Chemical stimulation of the lateral hypothalamus（LH） with carbachol induces antinociception in the tail-flick test, a model of acute pain. in the current study, we tried to examine the effect of TCS OX2 29 as an Ox2 r antagonist（5, 15, 50, 150 and 500 n m） microinjected into the vl PAG on LH-induced antinociception by carbachol administration（125 n m）. TCS OX2 29 dose dependently reduced carbacholinduced antinociception. in our previous study, we showed that the vl PAG CB1 receptors are involved in mediation of antinociceptive effect of carbachol. in the second set of experiments, animals were treated with carbachol 5 min after intra-vl PAG administration of 15 n m TCS OX2 29 and 1 n m Am251（as a selective CB1 receptor antagonist）, or 150 n m TCS OX2 29 and 10 n m Am251. The findings showed that the antinociceptive effect of orexin is partially mediated by activation of vl PAG Ox2 receptors. Furthermore, the administration of ineffective doses of Ox2 and CB1 receptor antagonists reduced the LHinduced antinociception. it seems that the orexinergic and cannabinoid systems in the PAG cooperate in the mediation of LH-induced antinociception.

This study investigated the action of proteolytic enzymes in the production of goat viscera hydrolysates,and their flavoring *** study focus the production of flavor precursor molecules and the formation of volatile compounds resulting from four hydrolysis treatments:HA-Alcalase®,HF-Flavourzyme®,HN-Neutrase®,and HFN-Flavourzyme® and Neutrase®.The highest degree of hydrolysis (26.74%),number (23 volatiles) and concentration of volatile compounds (274.0 μg/L) were obtained with the action of *** main classes of volatile compounds identified in hydrolysates included acids,aldehydes,pyrazines,terpenes and Streacker *** acids,sugars and fatty acids were identified with higher concentrations in HF and HFN hydrolysates due to the low participation of these precursors in the formation of volatile ***,the use of Alcalase in the proteolysis of goat viscera stood out compared to other enzymes,providing impacting aroma compounds,such as pyrazines,for meat flavor.

mJO modulation of Station Rainfall in the Semiarid Serido,Northeast Brazil

The influence of the madden Julian Oscillation (mJO) on station rainfall over the Seridó region of Rio Grande do Norte state, Northeast Brazil is examined based on 17 raingauge daily data over 30-year period (1 January-31 December, 1981-2010). The Seridó is one of the driest regions in Northeast Brazil and is recognized as particularly vulnerable to desertification by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification. Firstly, daily anomalies were calculated by removing the 30-year daily climatology. Then, to distinguish the mJO signal from other patterns of climate variability, the daily anomalies were band pass filtered in the frequency domain (20 - 90 days) by applying Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). Composites of rainfall anomalies were computed for each of the eight phases of the mJO during February-may (FmAm) rainy season, based on the Jones-Carvalho mJO index. Only days classified as mJO events were considered in the composites. For each phase composite, statistical significance tests were computed independently at each individual station by applying a two-tailed Student’s t-test at 5% significance level. Preliminary results showed that the rainfall anomalies have a spatial coherence throughout the mJO cycle. Extreme positive (negative) anomalies occurred in phase 2 (phase 5), where 13 (12) out of the 17 stations showed statistically significant anomalies in the range of 0.9 - 1.9 mm/day (0.8 - 1.7 mm/day). The typical difference between the wet mJO phase 2 and dry phase 5 represented at least 50% modulation of the daily mean rainfall.

Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors: Correlation of multislice CT Findings to Histopathologic Features and Preliminary Validation of New Scoring System

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the correlation between radiologic and pathologic features of the gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Patients and methods: A retrospective review from 2004 to 2014 identified 50 resected cases of confirmed gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GiST) is done. All these lesions were visualized in the first multi-slice computed tomography (mSCT) investigation. Radiologic and pathologic features were reviewed and compared. A radiologic score with mSCT findings was established. Four levels of risk were defined and compared to the miettinen-Lasota prognostic classification. Results: mean patients’ age was 57.6 with a sex-ratio (m/F) of 1.17. Of the 50 GiSTs lesions, 29 were located in the stomach (58%), 3 in the duodenum (6%), 16 in the small intestine (32%), one in the rectum and one in the great omentum. mSCT images were evaluated for origin and size of the tumor, as well as growth pattern, density before and after contrast, relationship with adjacent structures, presence of lymph nodes, ascitis and metastasis. The presence of mucosal ulceration, calcification, necrosis, cystic area or hemorrhage into the lesion was emphasized for each case. The histologic equivalent criteria were gathered from histopathology examination review of all specimens. Significant correlation was found for all these findings except the hemorrhage (p = 0.071). A radiologic score of fifteen items variable between 0 and 18 was established. miettinen risk classification was noted for each lesion. GiSTs with very low risk had mSCT score iST with low risk had a mSCT score between 5 and 9. GiST with moderate risk had a score between 10 and 14 and those with high risk had an mSCT score between 15 and 18. Significant correlation was found between the radiologic and histopathologic risk classification (p = 0. 001). Conclusion: mSCT is helpful in risk prediction for GiST.

Leukemia comprises a diverse group of malignancies which is accompanied with genetic disorderliness in hematopoietic cells. We evaluated effective risk factors in recovery process of under treatment patients suffering from acute myeloblastic leukemia （AmL）. This study conducted a cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study on a population of 76 samples obtained non-randomly from patients in Taleghani Hospital （Tehran, iran）. 30.3% patients resulted in death. According to logistic regression results, sexes [OR = 6.40, 95% Ci = （0.27, 3.45）], ALT [OR = 1.03, 95% Ci = （0.01, 0.05）] and HCT [OR = 0.55, 95% Ci = （-1.12, -0.06）] were recognized as significant in prognoses. We predicted the probability of death with an error of 20.03% based on a prognoses system using support vector machine （SVm） classifier. Using this theory, we experienced an error of 20.03%. 46.6% patients with a positive and 20.8% patients without positive drug history resulted in death, which shows a significant correlation between patients＇ drug history and their death.

The effect of sintering temperature(1073?1373 K)on the structural and tribological properties of nanostructured ballmilledβ-type Ti?15mo samples was *** prepared samples were characterized using various apperatus such as X-ray diffractometer,scanning electron microscope(SEm)and ball-on-plate type oscillating *** tests were conducted under different applied loads(2,8 and 16 N).Structural results showed that the mean pore and crystallite size continuously decreased with increasing sintering temperature to reach the lowest values of 4 nm and 29 nm at 1373 K,*** relative density of the sintered sample at 1373 K was as high as 97.0%.moreover,a higher sintering temperature resulted in higher relative density,greater hardness and elastic modulus of the *** was observed that both the friction coefficient and wear rate were lower in the sample sintered at 1373 K which was attributed to the closed porosity.
