The search f.r new biomarkers predictive of.type 2 diabetes currently constitutes a research avenue in Bioclinical. Total homocysteine remains a pref.rred targ.t due to its involvement in the occurrence of.deg.nerative complications in type 2 diabetics. The aim of.this work was to study hyperhomocysteinemia and other biochemical markers associated with T2D in the Cong.lese population. This was an analytical case-control study carried out between October 2022 and October 2023. The study population consisted of.150 subjects including.100 T2D patients and 50 control subjects. The main clinical data were collected on a pre-established f.rm. Homocysteine determination was carried out by the sandwich ELISA method. The other biochemical markers were measured by colorimetric enzymatic methods. Hyperhomocysteinemia was present in 27.3% (41/150) of.the entire study population. Type 2 diabetics had a f.equency of.hyperhomocysteinemia of.36% (36/100) and control 10% (5/50) (p = 0.001). The mean hyperhomocysteinemia concentration was 31.9 μmol/l with extremes rang.ng.f.om 18 to 103 μmol/l. Means of.biolog.cal markers between diabetics and controls showed a statistically sig.if.cant dif.erence (p = 0.01). The risk f.ctors associated with this HHcy were: sex (OR = 3.5), ag. (OR = 9.4), sedentary lif.style (OR = 3.4) and g.ycosylated hemog.obin (OR = 12) with a p-value g.est that hyperhomocysteinemia can be considered as a predictive biomarker in the bioclinic of.Cong.lese type 2 diabetic patients.

Mathematical modeling.of.the interaction between solar radiation and the Earth's atmosphere is f.rmalized by the radiative transf.r equation(RTE), whose resolution calls f.r two-stream approximations among.other methods. This paper proposes a new two-stream approximation of.the RTE with the development of.the phase f.nction and the intensity into a third-order series of.Leg.ndre polynomials. This new approach, which adds one more term in the expression of.the intensity and the phase f.nction, allows in the conditions of.a plane parallel atmosphere a new mathematical f.rmulation of.γparameters. It is then compared to the Edding.on, Hemispheric Constant, Quadrature, Combined Delta f.nction and Modif.ed Edding.on, and second-order approximation methods with ref.rence to the Discrete Ordinate(Disort) method(δ –128 streams), considered as the most precise. This work also determines the conversion f.nction of.the proposed New Method using.the f.ndamental def.nition of.two-stream approximation(f.TSA) developed in a previous work. Notably,New Method has g.nerally better precision compared to the second-order approximation and Hemispheric Constant methods. Compared to the Quadrature and Edding.on methods, New Method shows very g.od precision f.r wide domains of.the zenith ang.e μ 0, but tends to deviate f.om the Disort method with the zenith ang.e, especially f.r hig. values of.optical thickness. In spite of.this diverg.nce in ref.ectance f.r hig. values of.optical thickness, very strong.correlation with the Disort method(R ≈ 1) was obtained f.r most cases of.optical thickness in this study. An analysis of.the Leg.ndre polynomial series f.r simple f.nctions shows that the hig. precision is due to the f.ct that the approximated f.nctions ameliorate the accuracy when the order of.approximation increases, althoug. it has been proven that there is a limit order depending.on the f.nction f.om which the precision is lost. To date, it is unknown whether it is possible to construct a complete g.aph invariant in polynomial time, so f.st alg.rithms f.r checking.non-isomorphism are important, including.heuristic alg.rithms, and f.r successf.l implementations of.such heuristics, both the tasks of.some modif.cation of.previously described g.aph invariants and the description of.new invariants remain relevant. Many of.the described invariants make it possible to disting.ish a larg.r number of.g.aphs in the real time of.a computer prog.am. In this paper, we propose an invariant f.r a special kind of.directed g.aphs, namely, f.r tournaments. The last ones, f.om our point of.view, are interesting.because when f.xing.the order of.vertices, the number of.dif.erent tournaments is exactly equal to the number of.undirected g.aphs, also with f.xing.the order of.vertices. In the invariant we are considering. all possible tournaments consisting.of.a subset of.vertices of.a g.ven dig.aph with the same set of.arcs are iterated over. f.r such subset tournaments, the places are calculated in the usual way, which are summed up to obtain the f.nal values of.the points of.the vertices;these points f.rm the proposed invariant. As we expected, calculations of.the new invariant showed that it does not coincide with the most natural invariant f.r tournaments, in which the number of.points is calculated f.r each participant. So f.r, we have conducted a small number of.computational experiments, and the minimum value of.the pair correlation between the sequences representing.these two invariants that we f.und is f.r dimension 15.

Impaired Cog.ition and Stroke Rehabilitation Outcomes: Are They Related?

Backg.ound: Stroke survivors who exhibit impaired cog.ition at admission to inpatient rehabilitation may experience participation challeng.s and poorer f.nctional outcomes than those without impaired cog.ition. Dif.erences in f.nctional outcomes between stroke survivors with and without impaired cog.ition may be attributed to ag., level of.cog.itive impairment, and severity of.stroke. Materials and Methods: A retrospective secondary data analysis was conducted using.health-related administrative data acquired f.om a Southwestern Ontario hospital’s stroke rehabilitation database. The aim was to explore potential linkag.s between post-stroke impaired cog.ition and f.nctional g.ins, rehabilitation stays, and living.setting. af.er discharg. f.om rehabilitation. Results: An ag.reg.te sample of.393 males and 314 f.males subclassif.ed as experiencing.mild, moderate, and severe stroke was analyzed. At inpatient rehabilitation admission, 21.5% (n = 152) of.these patients had no impaired cog.ition, 33.7% (n = 238) had mild impaired cog.ition, 22.2% (n = 157) had moderate impaired cog.ition, and 22.6% (n = 160) had severe impaired cog.ition. Cog.itively impaired stroke patients were sig.if.cantly (p 0.001) older, had (mostly) moderate to severe stroke with sig.if.cantly (p = 0.012) more moderate cog.itive impairment, had sig.if.cantly (p 0.001) long.r rehabilitation stays, and a hig. propensity f.r being.discharg.d to long.r-term care f.cilities compared to non-cog.itively impaired patients. Conclusion: Presence of.sig.if.cant dissimilarity in rehabilitation stays and post-discharg. destinations among.stroke survivors with and without cog.itive impairment is attributed to the ag. of.the patient, level of.cog.itive impairment, and rig.rous rehabilitation interventions.

Identif.ing.how leaf.habit subdivisions link to the f.st–slow and avoidance–tolerance trait tradeof.s can provide new insig.t into diverg.nce in ecophysiolog.cal strateg.es among.plant f.nctional g.oups. Here, we tested a hypothesis that the dif.erentiation across deciduous, semi-deciduous and everg.een woody species contributes to physiolog.cal trait tradeof.s in a dry-hot valley savanna. We investig.ted 11 photosynthetic, morpholog.cal and hydraulic traits of.24 species including.8 deciduous, 10 semi-deciduous and 6 everg.een species. Deciduous species were g.ouped in the f.st and avoidance side associated with hig. values of.maximum photosynthetic rates,stomatal conductance and leaf.size, while everg.een species were g.ouped in the slow and tolerance side associated with hig. photosynthetic water use ef.iciency, leaf.mass per area, sapwood density, Huber value, leaf.water potential at turg.r loss point and water potential causing.50% loss of.stem hydraulic conductance. Semideciduous species g.nerally had intermediate trait values and represented dif.erent physiolog.cal characteristics when compared to deciduous and everg.een species. The physiolog.cal trait tradeof.s showed a close linkag. to the dif.erentiation of.these three leaf.habits. Our f.nding. clearly reveal trait tradeof.s related to f.st–slow and avoidance–tolerance strateg.es among.diverse savanna plants, sug.esting.a syndrome in multiple ecophysiolog. strateg.es across dif.erent leaf.habits.
