hybrid-Vlasov simulation of soft X-ray emissions at the Earth’s dayside magnetospheric boundaries

solar wind charge exchange produces emissions in the soft X-ray energy range which can enable the study of near-Earth space regions such as the magnetopause,the magnetosheath and the polar cusps by remote sensing *** solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(sMILE)and Lunar Environment heliospheric X-ray Imager(LEXI)missions aim to obtain soft Xray images of near-Earth space thanks to their soft X-ray Imager(sXI)*** earlier modeling works have already simulated soft X-ray images as might be obtained by sMILE sXI during its mission,the numerical models used so far are all based on the magnetohydrodynamics description of the space *** investigate the possible signatures of ion-kinetic-scale processes in soft Xray images,we use for the first time a global hybrid-Vlasov simulation of the geospace from the Vlasiator *** simulation is driven by fast and tenuous solar wind conditions and purely southward interplanetary magnetic *** first produce global X-ray images of the dayside near-Earth space by placing a virtual imaging satellite at two different locations,providing meridional and equatorial *** then analyze regional features present in the images and show that they correspond to signatures in soft X-ray emissions of mirrormode wave structures in the magnetosheath and flux transfer events(FTEs)at the *** results suggest that,although the time scales associated with the motion of those transient phenomena will likely be significantly smaller than the integration time of the sMILE and LEXI imagers,mirror-mode structures and FTEs can cumulatively produce detectable signatures in the soft X-ray *** instance,a local increase by 30%in the proton density at the dayside magnetopause resulting from the transit of multiple FTEs leads to a 12%enhancement in the line-of-sight-and time-integrated soft X-ray emissivity originating from this ***,a proton density increase by 14%in the magnetosheath

With cutting-edge technologies and considering airline human-resource-saving,a single pilot in commercial jets could be technically *** changes in captains’natural behaviours are initially required to comprehend the specific safe human performance envelope for safeguarding single-pilot flight,particularly in high-risk *** paper investigates how captains’performance transforms for fixing emergencies when operating from Dual-Pilot Operations(DPO)to single-Pilot Operations(sPO)through a physiological-based *** pilots flew an emergency-included flight with/without first officers’*** neural activities and scanning behaviours were recorded using a 32-channel Electroencephalogram(EEG)and glasses-based eye tracker,with the observation and post-experiment questionnaires to evaluate the flight operations and pilots’*** alone,there was a significantly increased cortical activity in h and b waves over the frontal,parietal,and temporal lobes during the more complicated emergencies,and pilots focused less on the primary flight display while spending significantly more time scanning the other *** physiological fluctuating patterns associated with risky operations in sPO were highlighted by cross-correlating multimodal *** experimental-based noteworthy insights may wish to inform commercial sPO measures to lessen the persistent physiological fluctuation,assisting airlines in creating sPO-oriented intelligent flight systems to give captains adequate support for assuring safer air transportation.

Boron carbide has unique properties for wide application possibilities;however,poor sinterability limits its *** approach to overcome this limitation is the addition of secondary phases into boron *** carbide based composite ceramics are produced by the direct addition of secondary phases into the structure or via reactive sintering using a sintering *** present study investigated the effect of Ti_(3)siC_(2) addition to boron carbide by reactive spark plasma sintering in the range of 1700-1900℃.Ti_(3)siC_(2) phase decomposed at high temperatures and reacted with B4C to form secondary phases of TiB2 and *** results demonstrated that the increase of Ti_(3)siC_(2) addition(up to 15 vol%)effectively promoted the densification of B4C and yielded higher ***,as the amount of Ti_(3)siC_(2) increased further,the formation of microstructural inhomogeneity and agglomeration of secondary phases caused a decrease in hardness.

A novel Eu^(2+)-Eu^(3+)co-activated ratiometric thermo-sensitive phosphor was developed and synthesized by solid-state *** valence state of Eu,photoluminescence and thermo-sensitive performance of the phosphor prepared either in ambient air or carbothermally were investigated and *** phosphor shows high sensitivity(sa=0.0173 K^(-1),s_(r)=0.461%/K)and superior signal discriminability(Δν∼10380 cm^(−1)).The thermo-sensitive performance is subject to the dual effects of different thermo-responses by Eu^(2+)versus Eu^(3+)combined with energy transfer from Eu^(2+)to Eu^(3+),so that the sensitivity of the phosphor in the temperature range presents a non-monotonic *** development of the BaAl_(2)B_(2)O_(7):Eu^(2+),Eu^(3+)phosphor is not only expected to be relevant for application in the field of temperature sensing,but also of reference significance for improving the sensitivity by means of energy transfer between co-activator ions over a wider temperature range of Eu^(2+)-Eu^(3+)co-activated ratiometric thermo-sensitive phosphors.

Network Embedding Algorithm for Vulnerability Assessment of Power Transmission Lines Using Integrated structure and Attribute Information

In power systems,failures of vulnerable lines can trigger large-scale cascading failures,and vulnerability assessment is dedicated to locating these lines and reducing the risks of such *** on a structure and attribute network embedding(sANE)algorithm,a novel quantitative vulnerability analysis method is proposed to identify vulnerable lines in this ***,a two-layered random walk network with topological and electrical properties of transmission lines is ***,based on the weighted degree of nodes in the two-layered network,the inter-layer and intra-layer walking transition probabilities are developed to obtain walk ***,a Word2Vec algorithm is applied to obtain lowdimension vectors representing transmission lines,according to obtained walk sequences for calculating the vulnerability index of transmissions ***,the proposed method is compared with three widely used methods in two test *** show the network embedding based method is superior to those comparison methods and can provide guidance for identifying vulnerable lines.

superconductor-semiconductor hybrid devices can bridge the gap between solid-state-based and photonics-based quantum systems,enabling new hybrid computing schemes,offering increased scalability and *** example for a hybrid device is the superconducting light-emitting diode(sLED).sLEDs have been theoretically shown to emit polarization-entangled photon pairs by utilizing radiative recombination of Cooper ***,the twophoton nature of the emission has not been shown experimentally *** demonstrate two-photon emission in a GaAs/AlGaAs *** electroluminescence spectra reveal unique two-photon superconducting features below the critical temperature(Tc),while temperature-dependent photon-pair correlation experiments(g(2)(τ,T))demonstrate temperature-dependent time coincidences below Tc between photons emitted from the *** results pave the way for compact and efficient superconducting quantum light sources and open new directions in light-matter interaction studies.

Evaluation of E-sail parameters on central spacecraft attitude stability using a high-fidelity rigid–flexible coupling model

This study examines the impact of electric solar wind sail(E-sail)parameters on the attitude stability of E-sail’s central spacecraft by using a comprehensive rigid–flexible coupling dynamic *** this model,the nodal position finite element method is used to model the elastic deformation of the tethers through interconnected two-node tensile *** attitude dynamics of the central spacecraft is described using a natural coordinate *** rigid–flexible coupling between the central spacecraft and its flexible tethers is established using Lagrange *** research reveals the significant influences of parameters such as tether numbers,tether’s electric potential,and solar wind velocity on attitude ***,solar wind fluctuations and the distribution of electric potential on the main tethers considerably affect the attitude stability of the *** consistent management,the angular velocities of the spacecraft must remain at target ***,the attitude stability of a spacecraft has a pronounced dependence on the geometrical configuration of the E-sail,with axisymmetric E-sails proving to be more stable.
