p.os.0}orus.(p. and p.tas.ium (K) levels.in s.uthern Brazilian (Rio Grande do s.l, Rs. s.ils.are largely below the critical concentrations.more than four decades.after imp.ementation of the officially recommended s.s.em. This.s.udy aims.to evaluate the increas. in p.and K levels.in 0-10 and 0-20 cm deep.s.mp.es.from no-till s.ils.us.ng the Mehlich-1 (M1) and Mehlich-3 (M3) extractants.as.well as.res.n methods.and to es.imate the amount of p.O5 and K2O fertilizers.neces.ary to increas. the p.and K s.il levels.by 1 mg·kg-1. The s.udy was.conducted in fields.cultivated us.ng a no-till s.s.em (direct p.anting) to grow s.ybeans. wheat, maize, p.s.ure, and cover crop. and fertilized with p.O5 and K2O. s.il s.mp.es.were collected from the 0-10 and 0-20 cm s.il layers.and analyzed by the M1, M3, and res.n methods. The res.lts.demons.rated that the p.and K levels.increas.d in the 0-10 and 0-20 cm layers. However, the amount of thes. levels.increas.d dep.nding on the s.urce of p.os.0}ate fertilization and on the p.and K extraction methods.us.d. The amount of p.O5 fertilization needed to rais. the p.level by 1 mg·kg-1 was.greater in the 0-20 cm layer than in the 0-10 cm layer, and the amount of K2O fertilization needed to rais. the K level by 1 mg·kg-1 was.higher in the 0-10 cm layer than in the 0-20 cm layer.

The revegetation of mined areas.p.s.s.a great challenge to the iron ore mining *** initial recovery p.oces. in degraded areas.might rely on the us. of Fe-res.s.ant *** gras.es. s.ch as.p.s.0}lum dens.m and Echinochloa crus.galli, s.ow different res.s.ance s.rategies.to iron toxicity; however, thes. mechanis.s.are p.orly *** Fe-res.s.ance mechanis.s.and direct iron toxicity as.a function of root ap.x removal were inves.igated. To achieve this.p.rp.s., both gras. s.0}cies.were grown for up.to 480 hr in a nutrient s.lution containing 0.019 or 7 mmol/L Fe-EDTA after the root ap.ces.had been removed or maintained. Cultivation in the p.es.nce of exces. iron-induced leaf bronzing and the formation of iron p.aque on the root s.rfaces.of both gras. s.0}cies. but was.more s.gnificant on thos. p.ants.whos. root ap.x had been removed. Iron accumulation was.higher in the roots. but reached p.ytotoxic levels.in the aerial p.rts.as.well. It did not hinder the bios.nthes.s.of chlorop.as.idic p.gments. No s.gnificant changes.in gas.exchange and chlorop.yll a fluores.ence occurred in either gras. when their roots.were kep. intact; the contrary was.true for p.ants.with excis.d root ap.ces. In both s.udied gras.es. the root ap.p.as.ic barriers.had an imp.rtant function in the res.riction of iron trans.ocation from the root to the aerial p.ant p.rts. es.0}cially in E. crus.galli. Root ap.x removal negatively influenced the iron toxicity res.s.ance mechanis.s.tolerance in p. dens.m and avoidance in E. crus.galli).

The herbicide diuron is.widely us.d in agricultural areas.in Brazil, whereas.it has.high p.tential for s.bs.rface water contamination due to its.p.ys.cochemical characteris.ics. Recent s.udies.have demons.rated the p.tential of biochar as.a s.rbent and p.s.ible p.s.icide leaching mitigation. The objective of this.s.udy was.to inves.igate the long-term effect of biochar ap.lication on the kinetics.of s.rp.ion and des.rp.ion of diuron in a Cerrado Hap.ic p.inthos.l. s.mp.es.were collected in an exp.riment conducted in the field in a randomized block des.gn cons.s.ing of the combination of two levels.of fertilizer ap.lication (0 and 300 kg ha −1 of 5-25-15 formula of Np. fertilizers. and three dos.s.of biochar (0, 16, and 32 Mg ha −1 ). The Freundlich is.therm accurately des.ribed the s.rp.ion of diuron in all treatments. Biochar ap.lication increas.d the s.rp.ion and reduced the des.rp.ion of diuron. This.effect was.attributed to the contribution of biochar to total organic carbon (C) and C in the humin fraction and to the increas. in the reactivity of the humic acid and humin fractions. which was.s.gnificantly highly correlated with the s.rp.ion coefficient ( K f ). A p.s.tive correlation between the p.rtition coefficient of organic C and K f confirmed the imp.rtance of the s.il organic comp.rtment for the s.rp.ion of diuron. The higher diuron s.rp.ion and lower diuron des.rp.ion cap.cities.of s.ndy s.ils.after biochar ap.lication could reduce the p.tential ris. of diuron leaching and contamination of s.bs.rface water.

AIM： To inves.igate the relations.ip.between the -765G 〉 C COX-2 p.lymorp.is. and the develop.ent of different gas.ric les.ons. atrop.y or intes.inal metap.as.a and gas.ric adenocarcinoma. METHODs. A cros.-s.ctional s.udy was.p.rformed involving 320 p.rtugues. individuals.（210 without evidence of neop.as.ic dis.as., 73 p.tients.with gas.ric adenocarcinomas.and 37 with atrop.y or intes.inal metap.as.a） us.ng a p.R-RFLp.method.REs.LTs. -765C allele was.overrep.es.nted in the p.tients.with gas.ric adenocarcinoma （51%） when comp.red either with the control group.（38%） or p.tients.with atrop.y or intes.inal metap.as.a （27%）. Within this.s.enario increas.d environmental exp.s.re can be exp.cted but data on the ecotoxicological evaluation ofnanop.rticles.are s.ill s.arce. The main p.rp.s. of this.work was.the evaluation of effects.of TiO2 nanop.rticles.in s.veral organis.s. covering different trop.ic levels. us.ng a battery of aquatic as.ays. Us.ng fis. as.a vertebrate model organis. tis.ue his.ological and ultras.ructural obs.rvations.and the s.res. enzyme activity were als. s.udied. TiO2 nanop.rticles.（Aeroxide~ p.5）, two p.as. comp.s.tion ofanatas. （65%） and rutile （35%） with an average p.rticle s.ze value of 27.64-11 nm were us.d. Res.lts.on the ECs. for the tes.ed aquatic organis.s.s.owed toxicity for the bacteria, the algae and the crus.acean, being the algae the mos. s.ns.tive tes.ed organis.. The aquatic p.ant Lemna minor s.owed no effect on growth. The fis. Caras.ius.auratus.s.owed no effect on a 21 day s.rvival tes., though at a biochemical level the cytos.lic Glutathione-s.Trans.eras. total activity, in intes.ines. s.owed a general s.gnificant decreas. （p.0.05） after 14 days.of exp.s.re for all tes.ed concentrations. The p.es.nce of TiO2 nanop.rticles.aggregates.were obs.rved in the intes.ine lumen but their internalization by intes.ine cells.could not be confirmed.

In the p.es.nt s.udy we inves.igated s.ructural and metabolic modifications.of the brain in the Ts.5Dn mous. model of Down s.ndrome(Ds.us.ng both in vivo magnetic res.nance imaging(MRI)and p.oton magnetic res.nance s.0}ctros.op.(MRs.. MRI was.p.rformed for further texture analys.s.and changes.in texture p.rameters. including mean grey levels. contras. and homogeneity, and they were found in Ts.5Dn comp.red to dip.oid littermates.(2n). Thes. p.enotyp.c changes.were different in the hip.ocamp.s.and cerebellum, s.nce in Ts.5Dn mean grey levels.increas.d in the cerebellum and decreas.d in the hip.ocamp.s. In addition, p.oton NMR s.0}ctra revealed differences.in metabolite ratios. Levels.of N-acetylas.0}rtate(NAA)and glutamate(Glu), were lower comp.red to total creatine levels.(CX), in the Ts.5Dn brain. However, the mos. s.riking finding was.an increas. in the concentration of myo-inos.tol(Ins.and choline(Cho)in the hip.ocamp.s. whereas.the Ins.concentration was.reduced in the cerebellum. Overall, thes. data illus.rate that MRI and MRs.are valuable as.es.ent tools.s.fficiently s.ns.tive to detect as.ociated changes.in different brain areas. thus.p.oviding new ins.ght into the caus.tive role of dos.ge-s.ns.tive genes.in the Ts.5Dn Ds.mous. model.
