Bile leakage after loop closure vs clip closure of the cystic duct during laparoscopic cholecystectomy:A retrospective analysis of a prospective cohort

Odorant-binding proteins （OBPs） are soluble proteins mediating chemorecep- tion in insects. In previous research, we investigated the molecular mechanisms adopted by aphids to detect the alarm pheromone （E）-fl-farnesene and we found that the recogni- tion of this and structurally related molecules is mediated by OBP3 and OBP7. here, we show the differential expression patterns of 5 selected OBPs （OBP 1, OBP3, OBP6, OBPT, OBPS） obtained performing quantitative RT-PCR and immunolocalization experiments in different body parts of adults and in the 5 developmental instars, including winged and unwinged morphs, of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum. The results provide an overall picture that allows us to speculate on the relationship between the differential expression of OBPs and their putative function. The expression of OBP3, OBP6, and OBP7 in the antennal sensilla suggests a ehemosensory fimction for these proteins, whereas the con- stant expression level of OBP8 in all instars could suggest a conserved role. Moreover, OBP1 and OBP3 are also expressed in nonsensory organs. A light and scanning electron microscopy study of sensilla on different body parts of aphid, in particular antennae, legs, mouthparts, and coruicles-cauda, completes this research providing a guide to facilitate the mapping of OBP expression profiles.

S-Nitrosothiols or thionitrites with the general formula RSNO are formally composed of the nitrosyl cation(NOt) and a thiolate(RSà), the base of the corresponding acids RSh. The smallest S-nitrosothiol is hSNO and derives from hydrogen sulfide(hSh, h_2S). The most common physiological S-nitrosothiols are derived from the amino acid L-cysteine(Cys Sh). Thus, the simplest S-nitrosothiol is S-nitroso-L-cysteine(Cys SNO). Cys SNO is a spontaneous potent donor of nitric oxide(NO) which activates soluble guanylyl cyclase to form cyclic guanosine monophosphate(c GMP). This activation is associated with multiple biological actions that include relaxation of smooth muscle cells and inhibition of platelet *** NO, Cys SNO is a short-lived species and occurs physiologically at concentrations around 1 n M in human blood. Cys SNO can be formed from Cys Sh and higher oxides of NO including nitrous acid(hONO)and its anhydride(N_2O_3). The most characteristic feature of RSNO is the S-transnitrosation reaction by which the NOtgroup is reversibly transferred to another thiolate. By this way numerous RSNO can be formed such as the low-molecular-mass S-nitroso-N-acetyl-L-cysteine(SNAC) and S-nitroso-glutathione(GSNO), and the high-molecular-mass S-nitrosol-L-cysteine hemoglobin(hb Cys SNO) present in erythrocytes and S-nitrosol-L-cysteine albumin(Alb Cys SNO) present in plasma at concentrations of the order of 200 n M. All above mentioned RSNO exert NO-related biological activity, but they must be administered intravenously. This important drawback can be overcome by lipophilic charge-free ***, we prepared the ethyl ester of SNAC, the S-nitroso-N-acetyl-L-cysteine ethyl ester(SNACET), from synthetic N-acetyl-L-cysteine ethyl ester(NACET). This paper brings up the issue of a systemic study of the translation of Russian classics into Estonian during the Soviet period. These translations are often considered to be only the result of the ＂Sovietization＂ of Estonian culture, but such approach is a simplification. Estonian translations of the Russian classics in the Soviet period, undoubtedly, depended on ideological conditions, but, it is argued here, were to a great extent determined by the mechanisms of cultural self-regulation and displayed continuity with translation strategies that had been established before the occupation, in the 1920s-1930s. In the independent Estonian Republic, a remarkable tradition of the translations of Russian classics existed thanks to the activity of A. h. Tammsaare, F. Tuglas, A. Oras, h. Talvik, B. Alver et al. Estonian translators devoted the particular attention to the text＇s audience--the Estonian readers. The paper explains why in the mid 19S0s Leskov, an ambivalent and diffficult-to-translate writer, was chosen by O. Samma and F. Kylli for the first presentation to the Estonian readers.

Cirrhotic cardiomyopathy is a disease that has only recently been recognised as a definitive clinical entity. In the setting of liver cirrhosis, it is characterized by a blunted inotropic and chronotropic response t o s t r e s s, i m p a i r e d d i a s t o l i c r e l a x a t i o n o f t h e myocardium and prolongation of the QT interval in the absence of other known cardiac disease. A key pathological feature is the persistent over-activation of the sympathetic nervous system in cirrhosis, which leads to down-regulation and dysfunction of theβ-adrenergic receptor. Diagnosis can be made using a combination of echocardiography(resting and stress), tissue Doppler imaging, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, 12-lead electrocardiogram and measurement of biomarkers. There are significant implications of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy in a number of clinical situations in which there is an increased physiological demand, which can lead to acute cardiac decompensation and heart failure. Prior to transplantation there is an increased risk of hepatorenal syndrome, cardiac failure following transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion and increased risk of arrhythmias during acute gastrointestinal bleeding. Liver transplantation presents the greatest physiological challenge with a further risk of acute cardiac decompensation. Peri-operative management should involve appropriate choice of graft and minimization of large fluctuations in preload and afterload. The avoidance of cardiac failure during this period has important prognostic implications, as there is evidence to suggest a long-term resolution of the abnormalities in cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.

Background Increasing resilience is a priority in modern pig *** research shows that general resilience can be quantified via variability in longitudinal *** collection of such longitudinal data on weight,feed intake and feeding behaviour in pigs has been facilitated by the development of technologies such as automated feeding *** goal of this study was to investigate resilience traits,which were estimated as deviations from longitudinal weight,feed intake and feeding behaviour data during the finishing phase.A dataset with 324,207 records between the age of 95 and 155 days on 5,939 Pietrain pigs with known pedigree and genomic information was *** provided guidelines for a rigid quality control of longitudinal body weight data,as we found that outliers can significantly affect *** growth curve analysis,linear modelling and trajectory analyses were used for quantifying resilience *** To our knowledge,this is the first study comparing resilience traits from longitudinal body weight,feed intake and feeding behaviour data in *** demonstrated that the resilience traits are lowly to moderately heritable for deviations in body weight(h2=2.9%–20.2%),in feed intake(9.4%–23.3%)and in feeding behaviour(16.2%–28.3%).Additionally,these traits have good predictive abilities in cross-validation *** in individual body weight and feed intake trajectories are highly correlated(rg=0.78)with low to moderate favourable genetic correlations with feed conversion ratio(rg=0.39–0.49).Lastly,we showed that some resilience traits,such as the natural logarithm of variances of observed versus predicted body weights(lnvarweight),are more robust to lower observation frequencies and are repeatable over three different time periods of the finishing *** Our results will help future studies investigating resilience traits and resilience-related ***,our study provides first results on standardization of
