Machine learning based models for predicting compressive strength of geopolymer concrete

Recently,great attention has been paid to geopolymer concrete due to its advantageous mechanical and environmentally friendly *** effort has been made in experimental studies to advance the understanding of geopolymer concrete,in which compressive strength is one of the most important *** facilitate engineering work on the material,an efficient predicting model is *** this study,three machine learning(ML)-based models,namely deep neural network(DNN),K-nearest neighbors(KNN),and support vector machines(SVM),are developed for forecasting the compressive strength of the geopolymer concrete.A total of 375 experimental samples are collected from the literature to build a database for the development of the predicting models.A careful procedure for data preprocessing is implemented,by which outliers are examined and removed from the database and input variables are standardized before feeding to the fitting *** standard K-fold cross-validation approach is applied for evaluating the performance of the models so tha. overfitting status is well managed,thus the generalizability of the models is *** effectiveness of the models is assessed via statistical metrics including root mean squared error(RMSE),mean absolute error(MAE),correlation coefficient(R),and the recently proposed performance index(PI).The basic mean square error(MSE)is used as the loss function to be minimized during the model fitting *** three ML-based models are successfully developed for estimating the compressive strength,for which good correlations between the predicted and the true values are obtained for DNN,KNN,and *** numerical results suggest tha. the DNN model generally outperforms the other two models.

Epidemiological characteristics of tuberculosis incidence and its macro-influence factors in Chinese mainland during 2014–2021

Background Tuberculosis (TB) remains a pressing public health issue, posing a significant threat to individuals'' well-being and lives. This study delves into the TB incidence in Chinese mainland during 2014–2021, aiming to gain deeper insights into their epidemiological characteristics and explore macro-level factors to enhance control and *** TB incidence data in Chinese mainland from 2014 to 2021 were sourced from the National Notifiable Disease Reporting System (NNDRS). A two-stage distributed lag nonlinear model (DLNM) was constructed to evaluate the lag and non-linearity of daily average temperature (℃, Atemp), average relative humidity (%, ARh), average wind speed (m/s, AWS), sunshine duration (h, SD) and precipitation (mm, PRE) on the TB incidence. A spatial panel data model was used to assess the impact of demographic, medical and health resource, and economic factors on TB *** A total of 6,587,439 TB cases were reported in Chinese mainland during 2014–2021, with an average annual incidence rate of 59.17/100,000. The TB incidence decreased from 67.05/100,000 in 2014 to 46.40/100,000 in 2021, notably declining from 2018 to 2021 (APC =-8.87%, 95%CI: -11.97, -6.85%). TB incidence rates were higher among males, farmers, and individuals aged 65 years and older. Spatiotemporal analysis revealed a significant cluster in Xinjiang, Qinghai, and Xizang from March 2017 to June 2019 (RR= 3.94,P he proportion of etiologically confirmed cases increased from 31.31% to 56.98%, and the time interval from TB onset to diagnosis shortened from 26 days (IQR: 10–56 days) to 19 days (IQR: 7–44 days). Specific meteorological conditions, including low temperature (high relative humidity (> 71.73%), low sunshine duration (h) increased the risk of TB incidence, while extreme low wind speed (he risk. Though there are numerous intrinsic merits of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs),low charge separation efficiency has imposed heavy restrictions on their photocatalytic ***,in situ porphyrin ligand substitution,as a strategy for improving the charge separation efficiency and increasing the amounts of active sites,has been designed and realized in a hf-biphenyl dicarboxylic acid(BPDC)***,a size and geometry matched meso-tetra(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin(TCPP)ligand was selected and doped into hf-BPDC MOF by forming coordinating bonds with hf centers,forming dualligand hf-BPDC-TCPP *** resultant hf-BPDC-TCPP MOF showed significantly improved activity and chemical stability in the photocatalytic h_(2)generation(261μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1))and tetracycline(TC)degradation reactions(95.8%),which was 48 and 1.47 folds higher tha. tha. of the hf-BPDC *** and electrochemical studies revealed tha. the introduction of porphyrin ligand could generate a stronger internal electric field for boosting the charge separation and transfer,increase the specific surface area for providing more active sites,and narrow the band gap to enhance the visible light *** in situ ligand substitution method provides a promising approach to build a tunable platform for constructing high-performance MOF photocatalysts.

Wildfire events are increasing globally which may be partly associated with climate change,resulting in significant adverse impacts on local,regional air quality and global *** September 2020,a small wildfire(burned area:36.3 ha)event occurred in Souesmes(Loiret-Cher,Sologne,France),and its plume spread out over 200 km on the following day as observed by the MODIS *** on measurements at a suburban site(~50 km northwest of the fire location)in Orléans and backward trajectory analysis,young wildfire plumes were *** increases in gaseous pollutants(CO,Ch_(4),N_(2)O,VOCs,etc.)and particles(including black carbon)were found within the wildfire plumes,leading to a reduced air *** factors,defined as EF(X)=ΔX/ΔCO(where,X represents the target species),of various trace gases and black carbon within the young wildfire plumes were determined accordingly and compared with previous *** in the ambient ions(such as ammonium,sulfate,nitrate,chloride,and nitrite in the particle-and gasphase)and aerosol properties(e.g.,aerosol water content,aerosol p h)were also quantified and ***,we estimated the total carbon and climate-related species(e.g.,CO_(2),Ch_(4),N_(2)O,and BC)emissions and compared them with fire emission *** biomass burning emission inventories have uncertainties in estimating small fire burned areas and *** instance,we found tha. the global Fire Assimilation System(gFAS)may underestimate emissions(e.g.,CO)of this small wildfire while other inventories(gFED and FINN)showed significant *** tha. it is the first time to record wildfire plumes in this region,related atmospheric implications are presented and discussed.
