Research on Cassava Drying, Application and Promotion of the Reversible Airflow Flatbed Dryers for Sliced Cassava

The study was conducted by researchers of the Research Center for Agricultural Energy and Machinery （CAEM） of the Ho Chi Minh City Nong Lam University （NLU） with the objectives of researching on drying ways for cassava and of evaluating the adaptability of the reversible-airflow dryers in drying of cassava. The results obtained were as follows： done with thin-layer drying experiments, deep-layer drying experiments in the lab, and conducted drying experiments at the cassava dryer in actual production scale with two capacity sizes of 8 tons/batch and 16 tons/batch, that operates based on principle of reversible-airflow drying （SRA dryers）. By the means of drying experiments, the performance of the SRA dryers such as optimal drying temperature, drying time, drying airflow reversal timing, moisture content uniformity of the sliced cassava mass after finishing drying process, drying cost, etc. was defined, the optimal drying temperature was 70 ~C, the total actual drying time for finishing one batch was 25-28 hours, applicable time for drying airflow reversal was after drying 16 hours since startup, the deviation in moisture content of the cassava mass after drying was just 2%-3%, the drying costs （per one kg of dried cassava） calculated were in turns VND407/kg at the SRA-8 dryer （8 tons/batch）, and VND351/kg at the SRA-16 dryer （16 tons/batch）. Obviously, comparing with the sale price of dry cassava at present, these levels of drying cost are accounting for 7%-10%, which are suitable and acceptable. Thus, investment of the dryers for sliced cassava would be effective and contribute to bring more income for Vietnamese cassava farmers and dryer end-users.

User profiles representing users’preferences and interests play an important role in many applications of personalized *** the rapid growth of social platforms,there is a critical need for efficient solutions to learn user profiles from the information they shared on social platforms so as to improve the quality of recommendation *** problem of user profile learning is significantly challenging due to difficulty in handling data from multiple sources,in different formats and often associated with *** this paper,we introduce an integrated approach that combines advanced Machine learning techniques with evidential reasoning based on Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence for user profiling and *** developed methods for user profile learning and multi-criteria collaborative filtering are demonstrated with experimental results and analysis that show the effectiveness and practicality of the integrated approach.A proposal for extending multi-criteria recommendation systems by incorporating user profiles learned from different sources of data into the recommendation process so as to provide better recommendation capabilities is also highlighted.

Seroprotection after hepatitis B vaccination amongst infants aged between 12 and 24 months in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Objective:To assess levels of HBs Ab amongst infants who received hepatitis B vaccine in the Expanded Program on Immunization in ***:A cross-sectional study was carried out at 16 community health centers from February 2016 to July *** infants were tested for HBs Ab and HBs *** questionnaires were used to collect relevant information about the demographics of the parents/caregivers and their infants after physical ***:A total of 199 eligible infants were selected with a mean age of(17.3±4.5)*** antibody levels with HBs Ab≥10 m IU/m L were detected in 68.3%of *** these,antibody levels from 10 to 99 m IU/m L were 48.5%of those tested and antibody levels≥100 ml U/m L were recorded as 51.5%.No cases were recorded of being infected with hepatitis B *** rate of positive HBs Ab level in those who were not wasting and≥18 months old was less than that among those who werele the infants with wasting andless likely to be positive HBs Ab than those who were not wasting and of the same age group(OR 0.15,95%CI:0.04-0.55,P<0.05).Conclusions:Seroprotection against hepatitis B virus was low in the infants tested(at 68.3%),which suggests that the hepatitis B vaccine should be administered with one additional dose for infants between 12 and 24 months of age,particularly those with wasting.

Damage detection of a thin plate using modal curvature via macrostrain measurement

Plate structures are employed as important structural components in many engineering applications. Hence, assessing the structural conditions of in-service plate structures is critical to monitoring global structural health. Modal curvature-based damage detection techniques have recently garnered considerable attention from the research community, and have become a promising vibration-based structural health monitoring solution. However, computing errors arise when calculating modal curvatures from lateral mode shapes, which result from unavoidable measurement errors in the mode shapes as identified from lateral vibration signals; this makes curvature-based algorithms that use a lateral measurement only theoretically feasible, but practically infeasible. Therefore, in this study, long-gauge fiber Bragg grating strain sensors are employed to obtain a modal curvature without a numerical differentiation procedure in order to circumvent the computing errors. Several damage indices based on modal curvatures that were developed to locate beam damage are employed. Both numerical and experimental studies are performed to validate the proposed approach. However, although previous studies have reported relative success with the application of these damage indices on a simple beam, only one damage index demonstrated the capability to locate damage when the stiffness of the local region changed near the sensor.

Objective:To assess the influences of the knowledge of parents about hepatitis B virus(HBV)infection and the benefit of HBV vaccination on the practice of HBV vaccination among ***:A prospective cross-sectional study recruited parents whose children,aged 12-24 months,received HBV vaccination at Commune Health Centers(CHCs)in Ho Chi Minh City from Feb.2016 to *** were interviewed using a questionnaire that included 11-item binary knowledge questions and checked their children’s vaccination ***:A total of 768 parents had a mean age of(30.8±5.1)*** mean knowledge score of the 11-item questions was(7.0±2.4).The knowledge score was positively associated with full and timely HBV *** addition,children who received complete and timely HBV vaccination were significantly more likely to live in rural areas(Adjusted OR 4.02,95%CI 2.79-5.79,Pledge about HBV risk,had a higher rate of full and timely HBV vaccination(Adjusted OR 1.60,95%CI 1.13-2.29,and Adjusted OR 1.47,95%CI 1.01-2.13,P allledge about *** health education from health care providers should target parents living in specific locations and focus on the benefits of HBV vaccine.

The recent outbreak of the coronavirus disease of 2019(Covid-19)has been causing many disruptions among the education systems worldwide,most of them due to the abrupt transition to online *** sudden upsurge in digital electronic devices usage,namely personal computers,laptops,tablets and smart-phones is unprecedented,which leads to a new wave of both mental and physical health problems among students,for example eye-related *** overexpo-sure to electronic devices,extended screen time usage and lack of outdoor sun-light have put a consequential strain on the student’s ophthalmic health because of their young age and a relative lack of responsibility on their own *** to take appropriate external measures to mitigate the negative effects of this pro-cess could lead to common ophthalmic illnesses such as myopia or more serious *** remedy this situation,we propose a software solution that is able to track and capture images of its users’eyes to detect symptoms of eye illnesses while simultaneously giving them warnings and even offering *** meet the requirements of a small and light model that is operable on low-end devices without information loss,we optimized the original MobileNetV2 model with depth-wise separable convolutions by altering the parameters in the last layers with an aim to minimize the resizing of the input image and obtained a new model which we call *** with applying the knowledge distillation tech-nique and ResNet-18 as a teacher model to train the student model,we have suc-cessfully increased the accuracy of the EyeNet model up to 87.16%and support the development of a model compatible with embedded systems with limited computing power,accessible to all students.

Prediction of falling weight deflectometer parameters using hybrid model of genetic algorithm and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system

A falling weight deflectometer is a testing device used in civil engineering to measure and evaluate the physical properties of pavements,such as the modulus of the subgrade reaction(Y1)and the elastic modulus of the slab(Y2),which are crucial for assessing the structural strength of *** this study,we developed a novel hybrid artificial intelligence model,i.e.,a genetic algorithm(GA)-optimized adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system(ANFIS-GA),to predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily determined 13 parameters of rigid *** performance of the novel ANFIS-GA model was compared to that of other benchmark models,namely logistic regression(LR)and radial basis function regression(RBFR)*** models were validated using standard statistical measures,namely,the coefficient of correlation(R),mean absolute error(MAE),and root mean square error(RMSE).The results indicated that the ANFIS-GA model was the best at predicting Y1(R=0.945)and Y2(R=0.887)compared to the LR and RBFR ***,the ANFIS-GA model can be used to accurately predict Y1 and Y2 based on easily measured parameters for the appropriate and rapid assessment of the quality and strength of pavements.
