Carboxylic acid-functionalized single walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs)prepared via the reaction of an amino acid,NH2(CH2)nCO2H where n=1(glycine,GLY),5(6-aminohexanoic acid,AHA),10(11-aminoundecanoic acid,AUDA),with fl uorinated single walled carbon nanotubes(f-SWNTs)have been characterized by MAS 13C NMR *** ease of observing the aliphatic CH2 groups and the resolution of the signal are dependent on the length of the amino acid’s aliphatic *** have proposed that where substituent chains are short(making NMR data collection difficult)chemical modification to extend the chain length should alleviate analysis *** this regard,we have investigated the esterifi cation of the carboxylic acid *** amino acid-functionalized SWNTs were esterified with an appropriate alcohol to ensure parity of the overall substituent length,i.e.,GLY-SWNT(C1)+1-dodecanol(C_(12))=DOD-GLY-SWNT(1),AHA-SWNT(C_(5))+1-octanol(C_(8))=OCT-AHA-SWNT(2),and AUDA-SWNT(C_(10))+1-propanol(C_(3))=PRO-AUDA-SWNT(3).The 13C NMR shift for the sp3 nitrogen-substituted carbon atoms of the SWNT sidewall is observed atδ≈75 *** the length of SWNT sidewall functional groups enhances the ability to observe the sidewall sp^(3)*** methylene carbon signal intensity is less attenuated in the dipolar dephasing spectrum of the ester-functionalized SWNTs than their associated amino acid derivatives,suggesting more motional freedom of the side chain in the solid *** confi rmation of the dipolar dephasing spectral effects was assisted by the characterization of the ester of AUDA-SWNT with 1,3-propanediol:PPD-AUDA-SWNT(4).

In the low-level Rf control field,ADC acquisition accuracy and noise set the boundary of our control ability,making it important to develop low-noise acquisition *** the design to test stage,all the noise terms should be understood and *** specific need addressed here is the precision acquisition system for the second Linac Coherent Light Source(LCLS-Ⅱ),led by SLAC National Accelerator *** circuit boards for the LTC2174 and AD9268 ADCs are designed and fabricated by *** ADC test framework based on fPGA evaluation board to assess performance has been *** ADC test framework includes both DSP(Digital Signal Processing) firmware and processing *** is useful for low-level Rf control and other synchronization *** the clock jitter between two channels give us an understanding of that noise *** with the test framework,the raw ADC data are transferred to a computer through a Gigabit Ethernet *** short-term error signal can be calculated based on a sine wave *** changing low-pass filter bandwidth,relative long-term performance can also be *** jitter and differential phase jitter are the key issues for *** paper will report the test results for LTC2174 and AD9268 *** integral amplitude jitter is smaller than 0.003%,and the integral phase noise is smaller than 0.0015°(measured at 47 MHz Rf,100 MHz clock,bandwidth 1 Hz to 100 kHz) for both ADC chips.

The growth characteristics of Aspergillus parasitic us incubated on two culture media were ex-amined using shortwave infrared(SWIR,1000-2500 nm)hyperspectral imaging(HSI)in this *** images of the *** colonies growing on rose bengal medium(RBM)and maize agar medium(MAM)were recorded daily for 6 *** growth phases of *** were indicated through the pixel number and average spectra of *** score plot of the first principal component(PC1)and PC2,four growth zones with varying mycelium densities were *** characteristic wavelengths(1095,1145,1195,1279,1442,1655,1834 and 1929 nm)were selected from PC1 loading,average spectra of each colony as well as each growth zone.f urthermore,support vector machine(S VM)classifier based on the eight wavelengths was built,and the classification accuracies for the four zones(from outer to inner zones)on the colonies on RBM were 99.77%,9935%,99.75%and 99.60%and 99.77%,9939%,99.31%and 98.22%for colonies on *** addition,a new score plot of PC2 and PC3 was used to differ-entiate the colonies incubated on RBM and MAM for 6 *** characteristic wavelengths of 1067,1195,1279,1369,1459,1694,1834 and 1929 nm were selected from the loading of PC2 and *** on them,a new SVM model was developed to diferentiate colonies on RBM and MAM with accuracy of 100.00%and 9999%,*** conclusion,SWIR hyperspectral image is a powerful tool for evaluation of growth characteristics of *** incubated in diferent culture media.

National Prediction of Ambient fine Particulates: 2000-2009

A large body of evidence links ambient fine particulates (PM2.5) to chronic disease. Efforts continue to be made to improve large scale estimation of this pollutant for within-urban environments and sparsely monitored areas. Still questions remain about modeling choices. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the performance of spatial only models in predicting national monthly exposure estimates of fine particulate matter at different time aggregations during the time period 2000-2009 for the contiguous United States. Additional goals were to evaluate the difference in prediction between federal reference monitors and non-reference monitors, assess regional differences, and compare with traditional methods. Using spatial generalized additive models (GAM), national models for fine particulate matter were developed, incorporating geographical information systems (GIS)-derived covariates and meteorological variables. Results were compared to nearest monitor and inverse distance weighting at different time aggregations and a comparison was made between the federal Reference Method and all monitors. Cross-validation was used for model evaluation. Using all monitors, the cross-validated R2 was 0.76, 0.81, and 0.82 for monthly, 1 year, and 5-year aggregations, respectively. A small decrease in performance was observed when selecting federal Reference monitors only (R2 = 0.73, 0.78, and 0.80 respectively). for Inverse distance weighting (IDW), there was a significantly larger decrease in R2 (0.68, 0.71, and 0.73, respectively). The spatial GAM showed the weakest performance for the northwest region. In conclusion, National exposure estimates of fine particulates at different time aggregations can be significantly improved over traditional methods by using spatial GAMs that are relatively easy to produce. furthermore, these models are comparable in performance to other national prediction models.
