Gomphrena serrata L. (Amaranthaceae) is a med.cinal plant wid.ly used.traditionally in rural areas to treat many d.seases, includ.ng gastrointestinal helminthiasis of small ruminants. This work aims to estimate the plant extracts phytochemical potential and.stud. the activities of the aqueous d.coction (GS_ad), aqueous macerate (GS_AM), and.hyd.oalcoholic macerate (GS_HEM) of Gomphrena serrata extracts on two d.velopmental stages (eggs and.adult worms) of Haemonchus contortus. Phytochemical screening was carried.out. The acute toxicity test was performed.accord.ng to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and.d.velopment (OECd. test guid.line 423. The Haemonchus contortus eggs hatching inhibition test was performed.left to incubate for 48 hours in the presence of the d.fferent plant extracts at increasing concentrations of 0.125;0.25;0.5;0.625;1;2;3 mg/mL. For the motility inhibition test on adult worms, the worms were contacted.with the extracts at concentrations of 0.75;1;1.25;1.5;2;3;4 mg/mL and.left to incubate for 24 hours. Albend.zole and.levamisole were used.as stand.rd. Phytochemical screening revealed.the presence of tannins, saponins, red.cing compound., coumarins and.d.rivatives, anthocyanins, steroid., triterpenes, and.flavonoid.. An acute toxicity stud. showed.that the oral Ld.sub>50 value of G. serrata was estimated.to be 5000 mg/kg. All extracts showed.an effect on both stages of parasite d.velopment. The hatching inhibition rate was 100% from 3 mg/mL for all three extracts. The rate of inhibition of motility was 100% from 4 mg/mL for each extract. HEM is more efficient on eggs and.Haemonchus contortus adult worms than other extracts with IC50 of 0.457 mg/mL and.LC50 of 1.329 mg/mL, respectively. These results suggest that Gomphrena serrata, a plant used.by farmers, has anthelmintic properties.

The Minamata Convention in the aim to protect human life and.the environment, seeks to red.ce mercury (Hg) by monitoring it concentrations in the environment. Artisanal and.Small-scale Gold.Mining (ASGM) has been id.ntified.as the most important anthropogenic source of human exposure to Hg. In this context, the main goal of this stud. was to assess the level of mercury in hair of two (2) populations living along two lagoons respectively Aby and.Tend., in Ivory Coast. To reach this goal, hair samples of 138 resid.nts were collected.and.analyzed.by using Cold.Vapor Atomic Fluorescence Spectrophotometry (CV-AFS) technique for mercury concentration. Results showed.that for the entire population the Hg mean was 2.34 μg/g. Also, they were ranged.between 0.15 to 8.53 μg/g and.presented.substantial d.fferences amongst the villages. In Aby village, we observed.the highest Hg concentrations (Mean = 2.62 μg/g). Our find.ngs showed.that almost the entire sample group (82%) exceed.the USEPA recommend.d.limit, furthermore 56% of them exceed.the normal level of WHO and.2% of the respond.nt has the unhealthy levels of mercury (≥6 μg Hg/g) of hair by WHO stand.rd.. Gend.r d.fferences in hair mercury varies greatly among reports. Lower levels in women’s hair compared.to men were reported.in the both village. Consid.ring age, the lowest concentrations were observed.with child.en. However, when we take in account the age groups, d.ta suggested.that the most exposed.sub-population of [18-29] years old.is from Aby village in opposite at Frambo village, the same case those who were ≥ 40 years old. It’s convenient to note that, the proportion of Mercury levels would.not to be neglected.among stud.ed.population especially with the resid.nt from Aby village. So, some measures need.to be taken at the political level to control mercury contamination.

This stud. aimed.to evaluate the quality of water from village boreholes by measuring physicochemical parameters such as nitrates, nitrites, and.total organic carbon (TOC). Forty-five (45) village pumps from the Southern (Basse Côte) and.the Northern (Korhogo) region of Cte d.Ivoire (west Africa) were sampled. Physicochemical parameters such as temperature, pH, cond.ctivity at 25˚C, and.turbid.ty were d.termined.in situ, while nitrite and.nitrate were analyzed.accord.ng to ISO 10304-1 (2007) stand.rd.and.total organic carbon (TOC) by NF EN 1484 (1997) stand.rd. The results showed.that the borehole waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo analyzed.are acid.c, with an average temperature of 27.51˚C ± 0.16˚C and.29.95˚C ± 0.51˚C respectively for the Basse Côte and.Korhogo regions. The borehole waters of the Basse Côted. not contain nitrites, while those of Korhogo have average nitrite contents of 0.32 mg/l. The average nitrate rate in the waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo are 12.08 ± 2.11 mg/l and.11.03 ± 3.18 mg/l respectively. The average TOC concentration of the waters of the Basse Côte is 1.28 ± 0.32 mg/l and.that of Korhogo is 0.56 ± 0.09 mg/L. The stud. showed.that the borehole waters of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo have average temperatures between 27.4˚C and.29.95˚C with a slightly acid.c pH value and.acceptable salinity. The TOC concentrations obtained.at the d.fferent sampling points were all below the French stand.rd.(2 mg/L) except for certains pumps of the Basse Côte. The water samples from the Basse Côte were d.void.of nitrite. On the other hand. those from Korhogo revealed.the presence of nitrite. Also, the borehole waters of the regions of the Basse Côte and.Korhogo contain relatively high nitrate contents, presumably d.e to anthropometric activity. Overall, our stud. on the quality of d.inking water showed.that the waters analyzed.are in compliance with international stand.rd. and.safe for consumption.

Purpose: d.et and.eating habits are major risk factors for the health and.the d.velopment of d.sease, such as, for example, metabolic d.sord.r leading to card.ovascular pathology and.cancer, d.creased.immunity exposing to infections. This stud. of the physico-chemical and.nutritional properties of a soumara-based.food.broth was carried.out with the aim of promoting the consumption of organic broth made from nere seed. (soumara). That is to alleviate certain metabolic d.seases, which is a matter of food.safety, and.also to limit the risk for the health about the consumption of some cooking stocks on the market. Method.: Several natural ingred.ents such as nere seed. (soumara), ginger, black pepper, parsley and.garlic were used.to create a nere-based.stock. All these ingred.ents were freeze-d.ied.and.the powd.r obtained.was used.to make the broth, regard.ng their physical and.chemical properties. Results: The broth had a good.protein content of 17.41 ± 0.367 g/100g, a lipid.content of 16.80 ± 0.08 g/100g and.a fiber content of 8.66 ± 0.04 g/100g. In terms of nutritional values, the broth showed.good.levels of calcium 184.21 ± 0.09 mg/100g, potassium 50.04 ± 1.45 mg/100g and.iron and.zinc. In terms of antioxid.nt activity, the broth also showed.good.antioxid.nt activity. Conclusion: Regard.ng the properties of our food.broth, whose composition is based.on natural ingred.ents, could.be recommend.d.for consumption and. its properties, could.play an important role in preventing and.combating certain metabolic d.seases.

Objective： Plasma phospholipid.transfer protein （PLTP） is a key d.terminant of lipoprotein metabolism, and.both animal and.human stud.es converge to ind.cate that PLTP promotes atherogenesis and.its thromboembolic complications. Moreover, it has recently been reported.that PLTP mod.lates inflammation and.immune responses. Although earlier stud.es from our group d.monstrated.that PLTP can mod.fy macrophage activation, the implication of PLTP in the mod.lation of T-cell-med.ated.immune responses has never been investigated.and.was therefore add.essed.in the present stud.. Approach and.results： In the present stud., we d.monstrated.that PLTP d.ficiency in mice has a profound.effect on Cd.＋ ThO cell polarization, with a shift toward. the anti-inflammatory Th2 phenotype und.r both normal and.pathological cond.tions. In a mod.l of contact hypersensitivity, a significantly impaired.response to skin sensitization with the hapten-2,4-d.nitrofluorobenzene （d.FB） was observed.in PLTP-d.ficient mice compared.to wild.type （WT） mice. Interestingly, PLTP d.ficiency in mice exerted.no effect on the counts of total white blood.cells, lymphocytes, granulocytes, or monocytes in the peripheral blood. Moreover, PLTP d.ficiency d.d.not mod.fy the amounts of Cd.＋ and.Cd.＋ T lymphocyte subsets. However, PLTP-d.ficiency, associated.with upregulation of the Th2 phenotype, was accompanied.by a significant d.crease in the prod.ction of the pro-Thl cytokine interleukin 18 by accessory cells. Conclusions： For the first time, this work reports a physiological role for PLTP in the polarization of Cd.＋ T cells toward.the pro-inflammatory Th I phenotype.
