Objective:To evaluate efficiency of hAART in the prevention of mother to child hIV ***:A longitudinal study was conducted on 1 300 women attending the antenatal service at Saint Camille Medical Centre from September 2010 to July *** hIV status of mothers was determined by rapid tests and *** results were confirmed by real-time *** was used to determine hIV status of children born from hIV-positive ***:Among 1 300 pregnant women tested for hIV,378 were *** were predominantly housewives(69.7%),and their mean age was(28.32±0.15) *** overall prevalence of hIV transmission from mother to child was 4.8%(18/378).This prevalence differed significantly from 0.0%(0/114) to 6.8%(18/264) in children born from mothers under hAART and those with mothers under new Prophylactic Protocol(ACT + 3TC + NVP),respectively(P< 0.01).Children’s mortality rate during the medical follow up was 1.3%(5/378).Among 16 women with hIV dubious status by ElISA,the Real Time PCR confirmed 2/16(12.5%) as hIV positive. Conclusions:The protocol of prevention of mother to children hIV transmission(PMTCT) is *** rate of hIV vertical transmission is significantly *** diagnosis determined by PCR of children born from hIV- positive mother is necessary and recommended in the context of PMTCT in Burkina *** also found that PCR is an effective tool to confirm hIV status in pregnant women.

Broiler breeder vaccination against IBD is usually based on the injection of at least one inactivated vaccine in oil adjuvant, typically included in a combined vaccine. Priming using one or several IBD vaccine (s) has been the most common way to immunize the breeders so far. In summary, protection against vvIBD challenge in chicks of one commercial genetic line vaccinated in ovo with the hVT-IBD vector vaccine was demonstrated. The parents’ IBD vaccination program, using the hVT-IBD vector vaccine alone, the hVT-IBD vector vaccine plus IBD inactivated vaccine, and inactivated IBD vaccine alone, did not impair their progeny’s in ovo hVT-IBD vector vaccine take and subsequent protection against vvIBD virus challenge. An advantage in terms of immunization of the progeny against vvIBD was shown in the chicks born to breeders vaccinated with the hVT-IBD vaccine as a primer, as compared to breeders vaccinated with the inactivated vaccine alone. high level of IBD maternally-derived antibodies transmitted to the progeny by their parents induces together with an early onset of immunity by in ovo injection of a hVT-IBD vector vaccine clinical protection, as monitored on bursas, after vvIBD virus challenge.

le="text-align:justify;"> The purpose of the present study was to investigate the texture in dissimilar medium carbon steels welded by rotary friction technique. The Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) technique was the main technique used to investigate the effect of welding on grain size and grain crystallographic orientation in the welded joint. Moreover, the effect of isothermal heat treatment at 600°C on welded joint has been studied knowing that this annealing allows to decrease the residual stresses. EBSD results revealed different subzones in welded joint. The texture in the weld is essentially composed of three components: Goss {110} , Rotated Cube {100} , and Rotated Goss {110} orientation. The heat treatments applied on welded material had a slight effect on texture and grain size.

Contrasting Depositional Environment of Iron Formation at Endengue Area, NW Congo Craton, Southern Cameroon: new Insights from Trace and Rare Earth Elements Geochemistry

The Endengue Banded Iron Formation (BIF) is located in the northwestern edge of the Congo craton in Cameroon. here, we report geochemical data of trace and rare earth elements (REE) of the Endengue BIF samples from the Archean Ntem complex and investigate their environmental setting. Two types of BIF occur at Endengue area, both containing minimal contamination from terrestrial material. Total REE (ΣREE) contents in the Type 1 BIF are extremely low, ranging from 0.34 to 1.83 ppm, similarly to pure chemical sediments while Type 2 BIF displays ΣREE contents ranging from 2.98 to 24.26 ppm. The PAAS-normalized REE + Y patterns of the two BIF types display LREE enrichment relative to HREE and weak positive Eu anomaly, most likely suggesting that the source of iron and siliceous of the Endengue BIFs is mainly from the contribution of low-temperature hydrothermal alteration of the crust. Type 1 BIF shows very low Nd content (* and positive Ce anomalies which suggests suboxic or anoxic seawater similar to the depositional environment of Elom BIF in Archean Ntem complex. In contrast, Type 2 BIF displays low to moderate Nd contents (1 and 100 ppm with the exception of sample LBR65) with negative correlation between Nd and Ce/Ce* and negative Ce anomalies. Explanatory Factors for the Variation in hIV Prevalence between Regions of Côte d’Ivoire: An Ecological Study

Introduction: No study has analyzed the reasons for the difference in hIV prevalence between Ivorian regions ranging from 1.3% in the central-western region to 4.1% in Abidjan among men. Objective: To analyze explanatory factors for the difference in hIV prevalence observed in men in Côte d’Ivoire’s regions. Methodology: Assessment of the relationship between hIV prevalence per region and risk factors explored in the 2012 Côte d’Ivoire Demographic and health Surveys (DhS). A multivariate analysis was conducted to assess the relationship between hIV prevalence and each variable. Results: The explanatory power of the variation of hIV prevalence between regions was 98%. There was a significant association between hIV prevalence and union (r = −0.38;p = 0.008;95% CI (−0.53 to −0.23)), condom use (r = −0.01;p = 0.19;95% CI (−0.03 to −0.01)), practice of Christian religion (r = −0.1;p = 0.017;95% CI (−0.16 to −0.05)), and schooling (r = −0.01;p = 0.25;95% CI (−0.04 to 0.02)). There was a paradoxical association between hIV prevalence and mean age at first sexual intercourse (r = −0.1;p = 0.017;95% CI (−0.16 to −0.05)) and sexual infections (r = −0.48;p = 0.016;95% CI (−0.75 to −0.22)). Conclusion: The explanatory factors for the difference in hIV prevalence observed in men in the regions of the country were union, condom use, mean age at first sexual intercourse, sexual infection, sexual activity, and multiple sexual partnerships. however, only union and condom use were effective in reducing hIV prevalence by preventing new infections.

Introduction: The Six Sigma methodology is an opportunity for a better understanding of the performance of analytical methods and for a better adaptation of the quality control management policy of the medical biology laboratory. Using the sigma metric, this study assessed the performance of the Biochemistry analytical system of a medical biology laboratory in Côte d'Ivoire. Methods: Six Sigma methodology was applied to 3 analytes (alanine aminotransferase, glucose and creatinine). Performance indicators such as measurement imprecision and bias were determined based on the results of internal and external quality controls. The sigma number was calculated using the total allowable error values proposed by Ricos et al. Results: For both control levels, AlT had a sigma number greater than 6 (7.6 for normal control and 7.9 for pathological control). however, low sigma numbers, less than or equal to 2 for creatinine (1.4 for normal control and 2 for pathological control) and less than 1 for glucose were found. Conclusion: This study revealed good analytical performance of AlT from the point of view of 6 sigma analysis. however, modifications to the overall quality control procedure for glucose and creatinine are needed to improve their analytical performance. The study should be extended to the entire laboratory’s analytes in order to modify the strategies of quality control procedures based on metric analysis for an overall improvement in analytical performance.

Effect of Cassava leaf (<i>Manihot esculenta </i>) level in Guinea-Pigs (<i>Cavia porcellus </i>) Meal on the Physico-Chemical and Techno-logical Properties of Its Meat

The present study was carried out to evaluate the effect of different rates of dried cassava leafs in diet as replacement of protein sources on the weight gain and carcass yield of guinea-pigs, as well as on the physico-chemical and technological properties of guinea-pigs’ meat. A total of forty-eight (48) eight-week-old guinea-pigs were divided in a completely randomized experimental design, in four groups and fed with the experimental foods. These experimental foods were formulated as follows: cassava-leaf (Manihot esculenta) powder was incorporated at concentrations of 0%, 8%, 10% and 12% respectively in replacement of protein sources for R0, R1, R2 and R3. Each treatment consisted of a group of 12 guinea pigs per paddock (6 males and 6 females). The initial weight (IW), final weight (FW), daily weight gain (DWG) and total gain (TG) were evaluated. At the 22nd week, animals of each group were sacrificed by bleeding, then skinned and eviscerated. Carcasses were cut, and some parts (loin, thigh and shoulder) were collected, deboned and analysed. The highest FW and carcass yield (CY) were obtained with the use of 10% cassava leafs (R2): 556 g (FW), 42.65% (CY) for males and 529.17 g (FW), 37.39% (CY) for females. The incorporation of 8% (R1) and 12% (R3) cassava leafs led to a significant increase (P levels in the loins (22.89%) and shoulders (22.43%) of females and the thighs (21.68%) and shoulders (21.09%) of males. however, protein levels of male fed with R3 in the various parts studied were higher than females fed with the same diet. The study of the technological parameters of guinea-pig’s meat showed that the incorporation of 8% and 12% cassava leafs in the diet resulted in a significant decrease in the water holding capacity and technological yield in the different parts studied. These results show that, the incorporation of cassava leafs in guinea-pigs’ diet made it possible to obtain good growth (R2) and meat of good technological quality
