Current approaches for simulating the energy performance of buildings on a large scale are limited by numerous assumptions and simplifications,which can lead to inaccurate *** new tools and procedures are emerging to improve accuracy,there remains a need for more user-friendly *** study proposes a new tool based on online maps to create the geometry of districts in a simple *** tool also enables an automatic evaluation of all buildings through dynamic hourly simulations,using a building simulation software and allowing to consider different weather *** illustrate the procedure,a district at risk of energy poverty in Seville(Spain)is modeled,where hourly temperature data for a whole year are available to demonstrate the need for building *** tool is used to evaluate the energy demands of the district under several retrofitting alternatives,and free-floating simulations are also performed to evaluate the improvement of thermal comfort without air-conditioning *** aim is not to discuss the actual values for this particular case,but rather to identify the correct direction for large-scale studies,so as to make them more easily ***,it may be concluded that the results provided by comprehensive tools,such as the one proposed in this study,enable easy yet accurate evaluations of buildings on a large scale with significant time savings,as well as the identification of locations where retrofitting interventions would have the greatest impact.

New insights for the catalytic oxidation of cyclohexane to K-A oil

Au-based catalysts have been reported to be active in the cyclohexane oxidation to K-A oil, but they showed some limitiations in terms of productivity, selectivity and required reaction conditions. The possibility to overcome some of these limits has been explored coupling Au with Cu, which can be suitable for undergoing the electron-switch in the initial step of the cyclohexane oxidation. Hence, a bimetallic 2 wt% Au Cu/Al_(2)O_(3) catalyst was tested in the oxidation of cyclohexane, working at mild conditions of 120 ℃ and 4 bar of O_(2). The combination of the catalyst with a very small amount of benzaldehyde used as cheaper and non-toxic radical initiator allowed to obtain a very high productivity of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone(45 mmol*m L/mgmet*h) with a selectivity of 94%. Moreover, comparing the catalysed reaction with the non-catalysed one, the role of the catalyst has been disclosed.

The architectural modernity that prevailed in Germany during the first half of the twentieth century cannot be understood without an appreciation of the work of Lilly Reich,a brilliant designer of interiors,furniture,and ephemeral architecture who exerted significant influence from her active position as a member of the Deutscher *** the critical recognition she acquired in the media of the time during her solo career,her association with the architect Mies van der Rohe,far from positioning her in the field of contributions,relegated her to the role of a mere *** this reason,this article aims to shed light on the extensive legacy of Lilly Reich,a woman whose figure is being acknowledged as a result of recent research but who was nevertheless omitted from the leading books on the history of *** methodology employed in the research analyses comparatively“what she did”and“what was said about her”,highlighting the convergences and divergences between“work”and“criticism”.The study and its results yield interesting conclusions regarding both the recognition that Lilly Reich received during her lifetime and the criticism she received after her death and up to the present day.

Phosphorus(P)is an essential nutrient for maize production,but in temperate areas the P uptake during early growing stages can be limited due to low soil temperature,even though the soil was tested high in *** objective of this study was to assess the effects of nitrogen and phosphorous(NP)starter fertilisation during early growth stages and its carryover until maize harvest,in mineral-fertilised or manured systems.A field experiment was carried out in north-west Italy during the 2019 and 2020 growing *** trial compared sub-surface placement of NP(diammonium phosphate)or N alone(ammonium nitrate)in bands close to the maize seed furrows,in differing long-term(LT)fertilisation managements:two doses of urea(Min-L and Min-H),two doses of bovine slurry(Slu-L and Slu-H)or two doses of farmyard manure(Fym-L and Fym-H).The two rates,low(L)and high(H),corresponded to 170 and250 kg N ha^(-1)year^(-1) *** to N fertilisation,NP starter fertilisation improved early maize growth assessed by leaf area index(LAI)and shoot dry weight(SDW)in all *** effects differed between the two years(2019:LAI+63%,SDW+67%;2020:LAI+36%,SDW+38%),as 2019was cool during the first *** LAI and SDW values were confirmed at crop flowering in the mineral-fertilised systems *** shoot growth was enhanced by NP starter fertilisation,anthesis occurred 1 day earlier in all ***,a response to NP starter fertilisation at harvest was recorded in mineral-fertilised systems only(+1.3 and+3.2 t ha^(-1) in Min-L and Min-H,respectively).The uptake of P,used as a true indicator of soil nutrient availability,increased with increasing soil Olsen P until 39 mg kg^(-1).These results suggest that soil test thresholds should be revised for points above which P fertilisation should be suspended.

Crowdfunding is emerging as an alternative form of funding for medical purposes,with capital being raised directly from a broader and more diverse audience of *** this paper,we have systematically researched and reviewed the literature on medical crowdfunding to determine how crowdfunding connects with the health care *** health care industry has been struggling to develop sustainable research and business models for economic systems and investors alike,especially in *** research results have revealed a wealth of evidence concerning the way crowdfunding is applied in real *** and caregivers utilize web platform–based campaigns all over the world to fund their medical expenses,generally on a spot basis,using donation-based or even reward-based schemes,regardless of the health care system archetype(public,private insurance-based or hybrid).Academics have also focused on funding campaigns and the predictors of success(which range from social behaviour and environment to the basic demographics of the campaigners and their diseases)and on social and regulatory concerns,including heightened social inequality and *** equity crowdfunding is disrupting the way many ventures/businesses seek capital in the market,our research indicates that there are no relevant or consistent data on the practice of medical equity crowdfunding in health care,apart from a few anecdotal cases.
