Is there a need for new pharmacotherapies to treat alcohol use disorders(AUDs)?AUD is a highly prevalent condition in the world population that causes medical,psychological,personal,social and economic *** most severe dimension of AUDs is alcohol dependence,a condition in which individuals lose control over alcohol intake despite the negative *** some medications have been approved for this purpose,existing pharmacotherapies are not effective for all people due to the heterogeneity of *** approved medications include:Disulfiram(Antabuse^?),which induces an aversion to drink by increasing alcohol metabolism-derived acetaldehyde;naltrexone(ReVia^?,Vivitrol^?),a competitive opioid antagonist forμ-receptors that decreases heavy drinking and prevents relapse;Acamprosate(Campral^?),an indirect partial agonist at n-methyl-D-aspartic acid glutamate receptors and antagonist at metabotropic glutamate receptors that is used to prevent relapse in detoxified alcoholics.

Galectin-3 (Gal-3) in oligodendrocyte (OLG) differentiation: OLGs are the cells in charge of myelination in the central nervous system (CnS), allowing rapid conduction of the neural action potential and giving trophic support to axons. OLGs undergo a series of changes throughout their life cycle: first, upon neural stem cell comm让ment to the OLG lineage, cells referred to as OLG precursor cells (OPC) present a bipolar morphology, have proliferative and migratory capacity and express molecular markers like platelet-derived growth factor receptor alpha and neural/glial antigen 2.

Significant advances in surgical techniques and relevant medium-and long-term outcomes over the past two decades have led to a substantial expansion in the indications for major liver *** support these outstanding results and to reduce perioperative complications,anesthesiologists must address and master key perioperative issues(preoperative assessment,proactive intraoperative anesthesia strategies,and implementation of the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery approach).Intensive care unit monitoring immediately following liver surgery remains a subject of active and often unresolved *** postoperative complications,posthepatectomy liver failure(PHLF)occurs in different grades of severity(A-C)and frequency(9%-30%),and it is the main cause of 90-d postoperative ***,recently redefined with pragmatic clinical criteria and perioperative scores,can be predicted,prevented,or *** review highlights:(1)The systemic consequences of surgical manipulations anesthesiologistsmust respond to or prevent,to positively impact PHLF(a proactive approach);and(2)the maximal intensivetreatment of PHLF,including artificial options,mainly based,so far,on Acute Liver Failure treatment(s),to buytime waiting for the recovery of the native liver or,when appropriate and in very selected cases,toward *** a clinical context requires a strong commitment to surgeons,anesthesiologists,and intensivists towork together,for a fruitful collaboration in a mandatory clinical continuum.

BACKGROUnD Gastrointestinal bleeding(GIB)is a severe and potentially life-threatening condition,especially in cases of delayed *** tomography angiography(CTA)plays a pivotal role in the early identification of upper and lower GIB and in the prompt treatment of the *** To determine whether a volumetric estimation of the extravasated contrast at CTA in GIB may be a predictor of subsequent positive angiographic *** In this retrospective single-centre study,35 patients(22 men;median age 69 years;range 16-92 years)admitted to our institution for active GIB detected at CTA and further submitted to catheter angiography between January 2018 and February 2022 were ***-three(65.7%)patients underwent endoscopy before *** volumetry was evaluated in both arterial and venous phases via a semi-automated dedicated *** rate was obtained from volume change between the two phases and standardised for unit *** were divided into two groups,according to the angiographic signs and their concordance with *** Upper bleeding accounted for 42.9%and lower GIB for 57.1%.Mean haemoglobin value at the admission was 7.7 g/dL.A concordance between positive CTA and direct angiographic bleeding signs was found in 19(54.3%)*** no significant differences in terms of bleeding volume in the arterial phase(0.55 mL vs 0.33 mL,P=0.35),a statistically significant volume increase in the venous phase was identified in the group of patients with positive angiography(2.06 mL vs 0.9 mL,P=0.02).In the latter patient group,a significant increase in bleeding rate was also detected(2.18 mL/min vs 0.19 mL/min,P=0.02).COnCLUSIOn In GIB of any origin,extravasated contrast volumetric analysis at CTA could be a predictor of positive angiography and may help in avoiding further unnecessary procedures.

Importance of dementia and Alzheimer's disease(AD): On Earth, there is a "country" that we call Dementia with around 50 million inhabitants and an estimated global economic cost of US $1 trillion(Wimo et al., 2017).AD may contribute to 60–70% of cases, with other major forms of dementia being vascular dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and a group of diseases that contribute to frontotemporal ***, the boundaries between different forms of dementia are indistinct and mixed forms often co-exist, which are only confirmed after postmortem neuropathological studies(Fernandez-Vega et al., 2015).

Laboratory pull-out tests were conducted on the following rock bolts and cable bolts:steel rebars,smooth steel bars,fiberglass reinforced polymer threaded bolts,flexible cable bolts,IR5/In special cable bolts and Mini-cage cable *** diameter of the tested bolts was between 16 mm and 26 *** bolts were grouted in a sandstone sample using resin or cement *** tests were conducted under either constant radial stiffness or constant confining pressure boundary conditions applied on the outer surface of the rock *** most tests,the rate of displacement was about 0.02 mm/*** tests were performed using a pull-out bench that allows testing a wide range of *** paper provides an extensive database of laboratory pull-out test results and confirms the influence of the confining pressure and the embedment length on the pull-out response(rock bolts and cable bolts).It also highlights the sensitivity of the results to the operating conditions and to the behavior of the sample as a whole,which cannot be neglected when the test results are used to assess the bolt-grout or the grouterock interface.

This paper proposes a new interface constitutive model for fully grouted rock-bolts and cable-bolts based on pull-out test results.A database was created combining published experimental data with in-house *** means of a comprehensive framework,a Coulomb-type failure criterion accounting for friction mobilization was *** the elastic phase,in which the interface joint is not yet created,the proposed model provides zero radial displacement,and once the interface joint is created,interface dilatancy is modeled using a non-associated plastic potential inspired from the behavior of rock *** results predicted by the proposed model are in good agreement with experimental *** model has been implemented in a finite element method(FEM)code and numerical simulations have been performed at the elementary and the structural *** results obtained provide confidence in the ability of the new model to assist in the design and optimization of bolting patterns.

A primary challenge of agent-based policy learning in complex and uncertain environments is escalating computational complexity with the size of the task space(action choices and world states) and the number of ***,there is ample evidence in the natural world that high-functioning social mammals learn to solve complex problems with ease,both individually and *** ability to solve computationally intractable problems stems from both brain circuits for hierarchical representation of state and action spaces and learned policies as well as constraints imposed by social *** biologically derived mechanisms for state representation and mammalian social intelligence,we constrain state-action choices in reinforcement learning in order to improve learning *** results bound the reduction in computational complexity due to stateion,hierarchical representation,and socially constrained action selection in agent-based learning problems that can be described as variants of Markov decision *** of two task domains,single-robot herding and multirobot foraging,shows that theoretical bounds hold and that acceptable policies emerge,which reduce task completion time,computational cost,and/or memory resources compared to learning without hierarchical representations and with no social knowledge.

Aqueous solutions of methyldiethanolamine （MDEA） and piperazine （PZ） are commonly used solvent nowadays. In this work a thermodynamic analysis with the Electrolyte-nRTL model has been performed for systems composed of acidic gases and MDEA＋ PZ aqueous solution. ASPEn Plus＇s has been used for thermodynamic modeling. Values of binary interaction parameters for liquid phase activity coefficients have been estimated from regressions of experimental data. Moreover, the influence of the interactions between ion pairs and MDEA or PZ molecular species has been analyzed. The final aim is to obtain a reliable tool for design and simulation of absorption and stripping columns, fundamentals also in order to carry out energy saving studies.
