Slender RC walls are used commonly in mid-and high-rise buildings to resist lateral loads arising from earthquakes and wind *** accommodate architectural constraints,facilitate construction,and maximize structural effi-ciency,the majority of these walls have complex configurations,comprising planar and non-planar wall elements that often include regular or irregular patterns of *** date most laboratory testing of slender RC walls has employed wall specimens with relatively simple configurations and without openings and coupling action which provides only limited understanding of the impact on performance of the variations in configuration and reinforcement detailing observed in real-world *** study presents a 3D continuum modeling approach to improve understanding of the behavior of walls with complex configurations and support recommendations for design of these *** wall data were used to calibrate the continuum-type modeling approach;experimental data characterizing the response of non-planar walls and walls with openings are used to validate the model.

trichoderma biocontrol strains establish a complex network of interactions with plants,in which diverse fungal molecules are involved in the recognition of these fungi as nonpathogenic *** molecules act as microbial-associated molecular patterns that trigger plant *** studies have reported the im-portance of ergosterol produced by trichoderma *** the ability of these fungi to induce plant growth and *** addition,squalene,a sterol biosynthetic inter-mediate,seems to play an important role in these ***,we analyzed the effect of different concentrations of ergosterol and squalene on tomato(Solanum lycopersicum)growth and on the transcription level of defense-and growth-related *** used an RNA-seq strategy to identify several tomato genesencoding predicted pattern recognition receptor proteins or WRKY transcription factors,both of which are puta-tively involved in the perception and response to ergo-sterol and ***,an analysis of Arabidopsis thaliana mutants lacking the genes homologous to these tomato candidates led to the identification of a WRKY40 transcription factor that negatively regulates salicylic acid-related genes and positively regulates ethylene-and jasmonate-related genes in the presence of ergosterol and squalene.

Aqueous solutions of methyldiethanolamine （MDeA） and piperazine （PZ） are commonly used solvent nowadays. In this work a thermodynamic analysis with the electrolyte-NRtL model has been performed for systems composed of acidic gases and MDeA＋ PZ aqueous solution. ASPeN Plus＇s has been used for thermodynamic modeling. Values of binary interaction parameters for liquid phase activity coefficients have been estimated from regressions of experimental data. Moreover, the influence of the interactions between ion pairs and MDeA or PZ molecular species has been analyzed. the final aim is to obtain a reliable tool for design and simulation of absorption and stripping columns, fundamentals also in order to carry out energy saving studies.

the rice Xa21 gene, which confers resistance to the bacterial pathogen Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae （Xoo）, encodes a receptor-like kinase, Few components involved in transducing the Xa21-mediated defense response have yet been identified. Here, we report that XA21 binds to a WRKY transcription factor, called OsWRKY62. the OsWRKY62 gene encodes two splice variants （OsWRKY62.1 and OsWRKY62.2）. OsWRKY62.1：smGFP2 and OsWRKY62.2：smGFP2 fusion pro- teins partially localize to the nucleus. transgenic plants overexpressing OsWRKY62.1 are compromised in basal defense and Xa21-mediated resistance to Xoo. Furthermore, overexpression of OsWRKY62.1 suppresses the activation of defenserelated genes. these results imply that OsWRKY62 functions as a negative regulator of innate immunity in rice, and serves as a critical mediator of both basal and race-specific defense responses.

In this paper, some computational tools are proposed to determine the largest invariant set, with respect to either a continuous-time or a discrete-time system, that is contained in an algebraic set. In particular, it is shown that if the vector field governing the dynamics of the system is polynomial and the considered analytic set is a variety, then algorithms from algebraic geometry can be used to solve the considered problem. examples of applications of the method(spanning from the characterization of the stability to the computation of the zero dynamics) are given all throughout the paper.

Varicocele has a prevalence of 15%in the population and represents a primary cause of infertility in 40%of cases and a secondary cause in approximately 80%of *** is considered the major correctable cause of male *** its high prevalence in the infertile population,a large number of patients with varicocele do not experience reproductive *** this reason,it is still highly debated which parameters could be used to predict which patients with varicocele will be most likely to benefit from its *** main international and european guidelines state that treatment should only be considered in infertile patients with abnormal sperm ***,these guidelines do not help physicians to identify which of these patients may benefit from the ***,this narrative review collects the evidence in the literature on the usefulness of some factors as predictors of improvement,highlighting how some of them may be effective in an initial selection of patients to be treated,while others are promising but further studies are ***,a brief consideration on the possible role of artificial intelligence is proposed.

Purpose: to identify the social-ecological correlates associated with fundamental movement skills at the child, family, and environment levels in young ***: Preschool children from 4 Colorado Head Start/preschool centers were recruited from 2010 to 2012. two hundred twenty-eight children(128 girls; age = 56.08 § 4.09 months; body mass index(BMI) z-score = 0.53 § 1.12(mean § SD); 42.1% Hispanic/Latino) and 159 families were included in the final analysis. Children's perceived competence and fundamental movement skills were assessed via the Pictorial Scale of Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance and the Bruininks-Oseretsky test of Motor Proficiency, 2 nd edition. Data on the number of children in the family, parent age, BMI, education, employment status, family income, perception of child coordination, and home physical activity environment were collected via a questionnaire. Linear regressions adjusted for child BMI, age, sex, and school site were performed at each ***: Child perceived cognitive competence was positively associated with locomotor skills(p = 0.04; adjusted R2= 0.035) and object-control skills(p = 0.003; adjusted R2= 0.083) at the child level. Parent education, BMI, and perception of child coordination were positively associated with locomotor skills and explained 8.8% of variance, but only parent education was significant(p = 0.04) at the family level. In addition, physical environment was positively associated with locomotor skills(p = 0.02) and explained 5.5% of variance at the environment ***: Social-ecological correlates associated with young children's fundamental movement skills are multidimensional and differ according to skill category at the child, family, and environment levels.

this paper reviews the current state of knowledge on psychological interventions with empirical evidence of efficacy in treating common psychiatric and behavioral disorders in people with intellectual disability(ID)at all stages of their *** begin with a brief presentation of what is meant by psychiatric and behavioral disorders in this population,along with an explanation of some of the factors that contribute to the increased psychosocial vulnerability of this group to present with these *** then conduct a review of empirically supported psychological therapies used to treat psychiatric and behavioral disorders in people with *** review is structured around the three generations of therapies:Applied behavior analysis(e.g.,positive behavior support),cognitive behavioral therapies(e.g.,mindfulness-based cognitive therapy),and contextual therapies(e.g.,dialectical behavior therapy).We conclude with some recommendations for professional practice in the fields of ID and psychiatry.

the increasing number of fossil pterosaur eggs sheds light on nesting environments and breeding be- haviors of these extinct flying reptiles. Here we report the first partial three-dimensional egg of the pterosaur, Pteroduustro guinazui, from central Argentina. the specimen was discovered from the same Albian deposits as the exceptional R guinazui embryo described in 2004. Microscopic characterizations indicate a pristine preservation of the 50 Bm thick calcium carbonate, which differs significantly from the soft shell of Chinese pterosaur eggs. estimate of the eggshell conductance implies that the nest had a minimum moisture content of 75%. this moisture estimate, combined with geological and taphonomical data, suggests that P. guinazui may have adopted a nesting strategy similar to those of grebes and flamingos rather than being buried on land, as previously hypothesized. Moreover, our results demon- strate that the nesting paleoenvironment of this pterosaur species was closely linked to a mesohaline lacustrine ecosystem in a basin governed by regional tectonic subsidence, a setting characteristic for the feeding and reproduction of modern flamingos.

We propose an approach for data-driven automated discovery of material laws,which we call eUCLID(efficient Unsupervised Constitutive Law Identification and Discovery),and we apply it here to the discovery of plasticity models,including arbitrarily shaped yield surfaces and isotropic and/or kinematic hardening *** approach is unsupervised,i.e.,it requires no stress data but only full-field displacement and global force data;it delivers interpretable models,i.e.,models that are embodied by parsimonious mathematical expressions discovered through sparse regression of a potentially large catalog of candidate functions;it is one-shot,i.e.,discovery only needs one *** material model library is constructed by expanding the yield function with a Fourier series,whereas isotropic and kinematic hardening is introduced by assuming a yield function dependency on internal history variables that evolve with the plastic *** selecting the most relevant Fourier modes and identifying the hardening behavior,eUCLID employs physics knowledge,i.e.,the optimization problem that governs the discovery enforces the equilibrium constraints in the bulk and at the loaded boundary of the *** promoting regularization is deployed to generate a set of solutions out of which a solution with low cost and high parsimony is automatically *** virtual experiments,we demonstrate the ability of eUCLID to accurately discover several plastic yield surfaces and hardening mechanisms of different complexity.
