Hybrid photonic-plasmonic cavities have emerged as a new platform to increase light-matter interaction capable to enhance the Purcell factor in a singular way not attainable with either photonic or plasmonic cavities *** the hybrid cavities proposed so far,the plasmonic element is usually a metallic bow-tie antenna,so the plasmonic gap—defined by lithography-is limited to minimum values of several ***-on-a-mirror(NPoM)cavities are far superior to achieve the smallest possible mode volumes,as plasmonic gaps smaller than 1 nm can be ***,we design a hybrid cavity that combines an NPoM plasmonic cavity and a dielectric-nanobeam photonic crystal cavity operating at transverse-magnetic *** metallic nanoparticle can be placed very close(brid plasmonic-photonic cavity exhibits quality factors𝑄above 10^(3) and normalized mode volumes𝑉down to 10^(−3),thus resulting in high Purcell factors(F_(P)≈10^(5)),while being experimentally feasible with current *** results suggest that hybrid cavities with sub-nanometer gaps should open new avenues for boosting light-matter interaction in nanophotonic systems.

Annual and seasonal diurnal precipitable water vapor(PWV)variations over Central and South America are analyzed for the period *** values were obtained from Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS)observations of sixty-nine GNSS tracking *** by climate categories show that PWV values for temperate,polar and cold dry climate have a positive skewed distribution and for tropical climates(except for monsoon subtype)show a negative skewed *** diurnal PWV and surface temperatures(T)anomaly datasets are analyzed by using principal components analysis(PCA).The first two modes represent more than 90%of the PWV *** first PCA mode of PWV variability shows a maximum amplitude value in the late afternoon few hours later than the respective values for surface temperature(T),therefore the temperature and the surface conditions(to yield evaporation)could be the main agents producing this variability;PWV variability in inland stations are mainly represented by this *** second mode of PWV variability shows a maximum amplitude at midnight,a possible explanation of this behavior is the effect of the sea/valley *** coastal and valley stations are affected by this mode in most ***,the"undefined"stations,surrounded by several water bodies,are mainly affected by the second mode with negative *** the seasonal analysis,both the undefined and valley stations constitute the main cases that show a sea or valley breeze only during some seasons,while the rest of the year they present a behavior according to their temperature and the surface *** a result,the PCA proves to be a useful numerical tool to represent the main sub-daily PWV variabilities.

Existing machine learning potentials for predicting phonon properties of crystals are typically limited on a material-to-materialbasis, primarily due to the exponential scaling of model complexity with the number of atomic species. We address this bottleneckwith the developed Elemental Spatial Density Neural Network Force Field, namely Elemental-SDNNFF. The effectiveness andprecision of our Elemental-SDNNFF approach are demonstrated on 11,866 full, half, and quaternary Heusler structures spanning 55elements in the periodic table by prediction of complete phonon properties. Self-improvement schemes including active learningand data augmentation techniques provide an abundant 9.4 million atomic data for training. Deep insight into predicted ultralowlattice thermal conductivity (by p–d orbital hybridization analysis. Additionally, aclass of two-band charge-2 Weyl points, referred to as “double Weyl points”, are found in 68% and 87% of 1662 half and 1550quaternary Heuslers, respectively.

Multi-detector CT angiography for the assessment of anterior spinal artery and artery of Adamkiewicz patency in patients suspected of having thoracic aortic pathology

Objective To evaluate the visualization of the anterior spinal artery (ASA) and the artery of Adamkiewicz (AKA) as well as the affecting factors for the detection rate using multidetector row CT (MDCT). Methods Ninety-nine consecutive patients (31 women and 68 men; age range, 25-90 years; average age 61.3 years) with suspicion for thoracic aortic lesions necessitating surgical intervention (31 aortic aneurysm, 45 dissection, 5 intramural hematoma, and 18 normal), underwent 16-slice MDCT angiography from the aortic arch to the aortic bifurcation. Transverse sections, multiplanar reformations (MPR) and thin maximum intensity projections (MIP) were used to assess the ASA and AKA. The level of the ASA and AKA origins and CT acquisition parameters were recorded. The contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) of the image, an index of the mass of the T11 body (vertebral mass index), the subcutaneous fat thickness,and the CT value within the aortic arch and at the T11 level were measured. The detection of the ASA and AKA was evaluated relative to the acquisition parameters, scan characteristics, and aortic lesion type. Differences were assessed with Wilcoxon rank-sum and t tests. Results The ASA was visualized in 51 patients (52%) and the AKA in 18 patients (18 %). The ASA was identified in 36/67 (54%)patients with 1.25 mm thickness and in15/32 (47%) patients with 2.5-3.0 mm thickness. This difference did not achieve significance (P=0.13). The detection rate of the ASA and the AKA was influenced by vertebral mass index and the CNR (P＜0.05). The amount of subcutaneous fat affected the detection rate of the ASA (P＜0.05) but not the AKA. In CT scans with ASA detection, the mean CT values in the aorta at the arch and at T11 were 360 and 358 HU, respectively; whereas in CT scans without ASA detection, the CT values in the aorta at the arch and at T11 were lower (297 and 317 HU, respectively; both P＜0.05). A Closed-Form Formulation for the build-Up Factor and Absorbed Energy for Photons and Electrons in the Compton Energy Range in Cartesian Geometry

In this work, we report on a closed-form formulation for the build-up factor and absorbed energy, in one and two di- mensional Cartesian geometry for photons and electrons, in the Compton energy range. For the one-dimensional case we use the LTSN method, assuming the Klein-Nishina scattering kernel for the determination of the angular radiation intensity for photons. We apply the two-dimensional LTSN nodal solution for the averaged angular radiation evaluation for the two-dimensional case, using the Klein-Nishina kernel for photons and the Compton kernel for electrons. From the angular radiation intensity we construct a closed-form solution for the build-up factor and evaluate the absorbed energy. We present numerical simulations and comparisons against results from the literature.

Hepatitis b virus prevalence and transmission risk factors in inflammatory bowel disease patients at Clementino Fraga Filho university hospital

AIM: To evaluate the prevalence of hepatitis b virus (HbV) infection in inflammatory bowel disease (IbD) patients that followed up in our hospital and try to identify the possible risk factors involved in this infection transmission. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study for which 176 patients were selected according to their arrival for the medical interview. All these patients had already IbD diagnosis. The patient was interviewed and a questionnaire was filled out. RESULTS: In the group of 176 patients whom we examined, we found that 17% (30) were anti-Hbc positive. Out of 30 patients with positive anti-Hbc, 2.3% (4) had positive HbsAg and negative HbV-DNA. In an attempt to identify the possible HbV infection transmission risk factors in IbD patients, it was observed that 117 patients had been submitted to some kind of surgical procedure, but only 24 patients had positive anti-Hbc (P = 0.085). It was also observed that surgery to treat IbD complications was not a risk factor for HbV infection transmission, since we did not get a statically significant P value. However, IbDpatients that have been submitted to surgery to treat IbD complications received more blood transfusions then patients submitted to other surgical interventions (P = 0.015). CONCLUSION: There was a high incidence of positive anti-Hbc (17%) and positive HbsAg (2.3%) in IbD patient when compared with the overall population (7.9%).

The southern region of the state of Chihuahua is mining by origin, as this has been proved ghost towns of Minas Nuevas, it is also called Villa Escobedo, Emerald and blue. Minerals are nonrenewable resources. There are only reserves and waste deposited in tailings ponds of low-rade precious metals （gold and silver）. A conventional method for recovering gold and silver ore is low-grade cyanidation and the solvent consider toxic and highly dangerous for the flora, fauna, humans and the environment. The mechanism of cyanide poisoning is inhibition of cytochrome oxidase--an enzyme needed for cell respiration. Without compromising efficiency, sensitivity and cost of the process, the toxic solvent is replaced by a less aggressive one, which helps the environment, public and occupational health. （NH4）2S203 has no appreciable damage to conservative amounts, is a selective aqueous solvent for leaching gold and silver, easy to get and manipulate. This work is done in the Technological Institute of Parral in a low-grade ore from the southern region of the state of Chihuahua. This document has been enriched presented in the IMEC 2014, with the increase of series Ⅴ and Ⅵ.

Restoring nervous system structure and function using tissue engineered living scaffolds

Neural tissue engineering is premised on the integration of engineered living tissue with the host nervous system to directly restore lost function or to augment regenerative capacity following ner- vous system injury or neurodegenerative disease. Disconnection of axon pathways - the long-distance fibers connecting specialized regions of the central nervous system or relaying peripheral signals - is a common feature of many neurological disorders and injury. However, functional axonal regenera- tion rarely occurs due to extreme distances to targets, absence of directed guidance, and the presence of inhibitory factors in the central nervous system, resulting in devastating effects on cognitive and sensorimotor function. To address this need, we are pursuing multiple strategies using tissue engi- neered ＂living scaffolds＂, which are preformed three-dimensional constructs consisting of living neural cells in a defined, often anisotropic architecture. Living scaffolds are designed to restore function by serving as a living labeled pathway for targeted axonal regeneration - mimicking key developmental mechanisms- or by restoring lost neural circuitry via direct replacement of neurons and axonal tracts. We are currently utilizing preformed living scaffolds consisting of neuronal dusters spanned by long axonal tracts as regenerative bridges to facilitate long-distance axonal regeneration and for targeted neurosurgical reconstruction of local circuits in the brain. Although there are formidable challenges in predinical and clinical advancement, these living tissue engineered constructs represent a promising strategy to facilitate nervous system repair and functional recovery.
