Genetic predisposition to colorectal cancer:Where we stand and future perspectives

The development of colorectal cancer(CRC)can be influenced by genetic factors in both familial cases and sporadic *** CRC has been associated with genetic changes in high-,moderate-and low-penetrance susceptibility ***,despite the availability of current gene-identification techniques,the genetic causes of a considerable proportion of hereditary cases remain ***-wide association studies of CRC have identified a number of common lowpenetrance alleles associated with a slightly increased or decreased risk of *** accumulation of low-risk variants may partly explain the familial risk of CRC,and some of these variants may modify the risk of cancer in patients with mutations in high-penetrance *** the predisposition to develop CRC will require investigators to address the following challenges:the identification of genes that cause uncharacterized hereditary cases of CRC such as familial CRC type X and serrated polyposis;the classification of variants of unknown significance in known CRC-predisposing genes;and the identification of additional cancer risk modifiers that can be used to perform risk assessments for individual mutation *** performed a comprehensive review of the genetically characterized and uncharacterized hereditary CRC syndromes and of lowand moderate-penetrance loci and variants identified through genome-wide association studies and candidate-gene *** challenges and future perspectives in the field of CRC predisposition are also discussed.

Aqueous solutions of methyldiethanolamine （MdeA） and piperazine （PZ） are commonly used solvent nowadays. In this work a thermodynamic analysis with the Electrolyte-NRTL model has been performed for systems composed of acidic gases and MdeA＋ PZ aqueous solution. ASPEN Plus＇s has been used for thermodynamic modeling. Values of binary interaction parameters for liquid phase activity coefficients have been estimated from regressions of experimental data. Moreover, the influence of the interactions between ion pairs and MdeA or PZ molecular species has been analyzed. The final aim is to obtain a reliable tool for design and simulation of absorption and stripping columns, fundamentals also in order to carry out energy saving studies.

Air distribution of HVAC systems is the most popular type used in the building sector,having a relevant impact on indoor air quality and occupant *** types of research developed optimal solutions for the HVAC system’s design,focusing on specific components of the distribution system,on the airflow and geometry of ducts,on the size of ducts,on the shape and position of air ***,few works in literature proposed a globally experimental and simulation analysis of an air distribution system with a variable mass flaw *** this line,the presented research investigates the potentialities of a new ceiling diffuser,installed in an exhibition *** system provides a variable mass flow rate thanks to its configuration,providing adequate thermal comfort.A warm wall is chosen as the heating *** tests are carried out,six for cooling and two for heating with different volumetric air rates and supply air temperature of the *** combination of two methods,the measurement campaigns and the computational fluid dynamics(CfD)technique represent a suitable approach to examine the thermal indoor *** general,results show a strong capability of this diffuser to provide a uniform temperature and velocity field inside the ***,experimental and numerical data are significantly comparable with an average deviation of 1%for the velocity and lower 1%for the temperature,guaranteeing an optimal distribution of the understudy environmental parameters on the vertical and horizontal planes.

In this paper, some computational tools are proposed to determine the largest invariant set, with respect to either a continuous-time or a discrete-time system, that is contained in an algebraic set. In particular, it is shown that if the vector field governing the dynamics of the system is polynomial and the considered analytic set is a variety, then algorithms from algebraic geometry can be used to solve the considered problem. Examples of applications of the method(spanning from the characterization of the stability to the computation of the zero dynamics) are given all throughout the paper.

Cognitive damage in heart failure （Hf） involves different domains thus interfering with the ability for single patient to self-care and to cope with treatment regimens, modifying symptoms and health behaviours. Many cerebral and functional changes were detected in brain imaging, involving areas of both grey and white matter deputed to cognition. Although various instruments are available to explore cognition, no consensus was obtained on better tools to be used in Hf population. Reduction in cerebral blood flow, decreased cardiac output, altera-tions of cerebrovascular reactivity and modification of blood pressure levels are the main features involved in the etiopathogenetic mecha-nisms of cognitive deficit. Several cardiac variables, laboratory parameters, demographic and clinical elements were studied for their possible relation with cognition and should be properly evaluated to define patients at increased risk of impairment. The present review gathers avail-able data pointing out assured information and discussing possible areas of research development.

AIM:To investigate chronic stress as a susceptibility factor for developing pancreatitis,as well as tumor necrosis factor-α (TNf-α) as a putative ***:Rat pancreatic acini were used to analyze the influence of TNf-α on submaximal (50 pmol/L) cholecystokinin (CCK) *** restraint (4 h every day for 21 d) was used to evaluate the effects of submaximal (0.2 μg/kg per hour) cerulein stimulation on chronically stressed ***:In vitro exposure of pancreatic acini toTNf-α disorganized the actin *** was further increased by TNf-α/CCK treatment,which additionally reduced amylase secretion,and increased trypsin and nuclear factor-κB activities in a protein-kinase-C δ and ε-dependent ***-α/CCK also enhanced caspases' activity and lactate dehydrogenase release,induced ATP loss,and augmented the ADP/ATP *** vivo,rats under chronic restraint exhibited elevated serum and pancreatic TNf-α ***,pancreatic,and lung inflammatory parameters,as well as caspases' activity in pancreatic and lung tissue,were substantially enhanced in stressed/cerulein-treated rats,which also experienced tissues' ATP loss and greater ADP/ATP *** examination revealed that stressed/cerulein-treated animals developed abundant pancreatic and lung edema,hemorrhage and leukocyte infiltrate,and pancreatic *** severity was greatly decreased by treating animals with an anti-TNf-αantibody,which diminished all inflammatory parameters,histopathological scores,and apoptotic/necrotic markers in stressed/cerulein-treated ***:In rats,chronic stress increases susceptibility for developing pancreatitis,which involves TNf-α sensitization of pancreatic acinar cells to undergo injury by physiological cerulein stimulation.
