Variation in SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in children in the region of Asturias,Northern Spain

Background Updated seroprevalence estimates are important to describe the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)landscape and to guide public health *** aims are to describe longitudinal changes in seroprevalence in children in a region in Northern Spain and to analyze factors associated with SARS-CoV-2 *** Prospective multicenter longitudinal study with subjects recruited from July to September ***(up to 14 years old)were included and followed up until September *** blood samples were collected every six months during three testing rounds and were analyzed for SARS-CoV-2 *** data regarding epidemiological features,contact tracing,symptoms,and virological tests were *** evolution of SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence during the study and the differences between children with positive and negative SARS-CoV-2 antibody tests were *** Two hundred children were recruited(50.5%girls,median age 9.7 years).The overall seroprevalence increased from round 1[1.5%,95%confidence interval(CI)0.3%–4.3%]to round 2(9.1%,95%CI 4.6%–12.7%)and round 3(16.6%,95%CI 9.5%–19.6%)(P<0.001).Main changes occurred in children aged zero to four years(P=0.001)who lived in urban areas(P<0.001).None of the children who were previously positive became *** multivariable analysis,three variables independently associated with SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity were identified:close contact with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)confirmed or suspected cases[odds ratio(OR)=3.9,95%CI 1.2–12.5],previous positive virological test(OR=17.1,95%CI 3.7–78.3)and fatigue(OR=18.1,95%CI 1.7–193.4).Conclusions SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence in children has remarkably increased during the time of our *** was the only COVID-19-compatible symptom that was more frequent in seropositive than in seronegative children.

Corneal and intraocular pressure changes associated to the circadian rhythms:a narrative review

During the 20th century,there has been an ongoing agricultural expansion and global warming,two of the main determinants influencing biodiversity changes in *** red hocicudo mouse(Oxymycterus rufus)inhabits subtropical grasslands and riparian habitats and has increased its abundance in recent years in central Argentina *** paper describes the long-term temporal changes in *** abundance in Exaltación de la Cruz department,Buenos Aires province,Argentina,in relation to weatherfluctuations and landscape features,as well as analyzes the spatio-temporal structure of captures of *** used generalized liner models,semi-variograms,the Mantel test,and autocorrelation functions for the analysis of rodent data obtained from trappings conducted between 1984 and *** showed an increase in abundance across the years of study,with its distribution depending on landscape features,such as habitat types and the distance *** rates showed a spatio-temporal aggregation,suggesting expansion from previously occupied *** was more abundant at lower minimum temperatures in summer,higher precipitation in spring and summer,and lower precip-itations in *** conditions affected *** abundance,but there was local variation that differed from global patterns of climate change.

Dysfunction in circadian rhythms is a common occurrence in patients with Alzheimer’s disease.A predominant function of the retina is circadian synchronization,carrying information to the brain through the retinohypothalamic tract,which projects to the suprachiasmatic ***,Alzheimer’s disease hallmarks,including amyloid-β,are present in the retinas of Alzheimer’s disease patients,followed/associated by structural and functional ***,the mechanistic link between circadian dysfunction and the pathological changes affecting the retina in Alzheimer’s disease is not fully understood,although some studies point to the possibility that retinal dysfunction could be considered an early pathological process that directly modulates the circadian rhythm.

Dieback of managed spruce stands in western Germany promotes beetle diversity

Biodiversity loss is a significant problem at a global scale and may be amplified by climate *** recent years,coniferous forests have had substantial die-back across Europe due to drought and subsequent bark-beetle *** many studies on the consequences of disturbance and subsequent management have focused on natural stands,management implications for managed spruce stands are not well understood,even though such stands are widespread throughout *** this study,beetle taxonomy,conservation value,and community com-position are compared among spruce plantations and four post-disturbance management approaches:standing dead-wood,lying deadwood,clear cuts,and long-term *** and community composition differed significantly among management categories,while different beetle fami-lies responded *** spruce stands harbored the lowest beetle diversity while the highest taxonomic diver-sity and conservation value was on clear cuts and stands with lying or standing *** proportion of forest specialists was highest in successional *** summary,different forest management categories harbored distinct beetle communities at the family-,species-,and ecological guild ***,post-disturbance management should consider the landscape scale and include different management *** enhances landscape heterogeneity and thus overall biodiversity but could also mitigate negative impacts of natural disturbances on ecosystem services.

Comparative Analysis of Reaction to Fire and Flammability of Hemp Shives Insulation Boards with Incorporated Microencapsulated Phase Change Materials

Nowadays buildings contain innovative materials,materials from local resources,production surpluses and rapidly renewable natural *** Change Materials(PCM)are one such group of novel materials which reduce building energy *** the wider availability of microencapsulated PCM,there is an opportunity to develop a new type of insulating materials,combinate PCM with traditional insulation materials for latent heat energy *** materials are typically flammable and are located on the interior wall finishing yet there has been no detailed assessment of their fire *** this research work prototypes of low-density insulating boards for indoor spaces from hemp shives using carbamide resin binder and cold pressing were ***-scale cone calorimeter tests were conducted to evaluate fire risk,with a focus on assessing material flammability properties and the influence of PCM on the *** this research,the amount of smoke,heat release rate,effective heat of combustion,specific extinction coefficient,mass loss,carbon dioxide yield,specific loss factor,ignition time of hemp straws samples and samples of hemp straws with 10%and without PCM admixture were *** is a risk of flammability for PCM and their fire reaction has not been evaluated when incorporating PCM into interior wall finishing *** obtained results can be used by designers to balance the potential energy savings of using PCM with a more complete understanding and predictability of the associated fire risk when using the proposed *** also allows for appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
