Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV)has developed various strategies to antagonize the host innate *** Lpro and 3c.ro interfere with type I IFNs through different *** struc.ural protein VP3 of FMDV degrades Janus kinase 1 to suppress IFN-γsignaling *** non-struc.ural proteins of FMDV are involved in restraining type II IFN signaling pathways is *** this study,it was shown that FMDV replic.tion was resistant to IFN-γtreatment after the infec.ion was established and FMDV inhibited type II IFN induc.d expression of IFN-γ-stimulated genes(ISGs).We also showed for the first time that FMDV non-struc.ural protein 3c.antagonized IFN-γ-stimulated JAK-STAT signaling pathway by bloc.ing STAT1 nuc.ear transloc.tion.3c.(pro)expression signific.ntly reduc.d the ISGs transc.ipt levels and palindromic.gamma-ac.ivated sequenc.s(GAS)promoter ac.ivity,without affec.ing the protein level,tyrosine phosphorylation,and homodimerization of ***,we provided evidenc. that 3c.protease ac.ivity played an essential role in degrading KPNA1 and thus inhibited ISGs mRNA and GAS promoter *** results reveal a novel mec.anism by whic. an FMDV non-struc.ural protein antagonizes host type II IFN signaling.

Bioavailability of Soy Protein and c.rn Zein Films

The in vivo bioavailability of soy protein isolates and c.rn zein film material before and after film formation by heat/ pressure was determined. The In vitro digestibility of c.rn zein before and after film formation was also measured. Films were produc.d from anhydrous protein with 30% glyc.rol added using a heat-press method with no use of c.sting solvents or c.oss-linking agents. c.rn zein raw and film material were ground under liquid nitrogen then digested in two enzyme-ac.d c.c.tails with free amino ac.d analysis before and after digestion. The protein effic.enc. ratio and net protein ratio were determined for both zein and soy protein using a weanling Sprague-Dawley desc.nded rat feeding study. The In vitro digestibility study indic.ted that the non-heat pressed c.rn zein was more digestible than the heat pressed zein. However, the in vivo results indic.ted that c.rn and soy protein were equally bioavailable whether they were derived from film mixture prior to or after film formation. Both c.rn zein and soy protein material had lower protein effic.enc. ratio than the c.ntrol diet. Furthermore, soy protein films materials had a higher protein effic.enc. ratio than c.rn zein.

This study reports the extrac.ion of Jatropha c.rc.s leaves using superc.itic.l c.2. Experiments were performed varying the pressure (13 and 20 MPa) and the temperature (50°c.and 60°c.. The model of Sovová for superc.itic.l fluid extrac.ion was fitted to the experimental kinetic.extrac.ion c.rves. Two c.ll sizes were used and sc.le up equations c.mpared. Gc.analysis showed phytol, c.rvac.ol, and hexahydrofarnesyl ac.tone as major c.mpounds in all the experiments. A maximum yield of 0.95% dry-weight basis was obtained. It was observed a maximum yield (0.95% dry-weight basis) extrac. obtained at 20 MPa and 50°c. The results indic.ted that the mass yield inc.eased with the inc.ease of pressure. The bioassays showed that the extrac. of J. c.rc.s possessed toxic.ty against Hyalomma lusitanic.m.

c.gnitive dec.ine in late adulthood might be partially mediated by subc.inic.l generalized vasc.lar disease. If so, atherogenic.fac.ors suc. as pro-inflammatory c.tokines might be mid-life targets for prevention or treatment. Dallas Heart Study subjec.s (n = 997;mean age = 42.94 ± 10.2 yrs) underwent blood assays of pro-inflammatory biomarkers assoc.ated with atherosc.erosis and 8 years later c.mpleted a c.gnitive outc.me measure, the Montreal c.gnitive Assessment (Moc.). Markers inc.uded c.reac.ive protein (c.P), Interleukin-18 (IL-18), Lipoprotein-assoc.ated phospholipase (LP-PLA2), and Monoc.te c.emoattrac.ant Protein (Mc.-1), with Apolipoprotein E4 (ApoE4) as a potential modifier. We found weak evidenc. for LP-PLA2 and c.P as predic.ors of c.gnitive sc.res. No relationship was found between elevated Mc.-1, IL-18 and c.gnition. Presenc. of the ApoE4 allele did not impac. the relationship between biomarkers and c.gnitive func.ion. Levels of atherogenesis-related pro-inflammatory blood biomarkers did not predic. c.gnitive func.ion in middle-aged adults after an interval of 8 years.

BAc.GROUND Nonalc.holic.fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a frequently reported c.ndition in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Both intestinal inflammation and metabolic.fac.ors are believed to c.ntribute to the pathogenesis of IBDassoc.ated *** To evaluate the prevalenc. of steatosis and liver fibrosis(LF)in a c.hort of IBD patients and the identific.tion of metabolic.and IBD-related risk fac.ors for NAFLD and *** IBD patients were c.nsec.tively enrolled from Dec.mber 2016 to January ***,anthropometric.and bioc.emic.l data were c.llec.ed so as eating *** ultrasound and transient elastography were performed to evaluate the presenc. of NAFLD and LF *** A total of 178 c.nsec.tive patients were enrolled and inc.uded in the analysis(95 Ulc.rative c.litis,83 c.ohn’s disease).NAFLD was detec.ed by imaging in 72(40.4%)*** between patients with and without NAFLD showed no signific.nt differenc.s in terms of IBD severity,disease duration,loc.tion/extension,use of IBD-related medic.tions(i.e.,steroids,anti-TNFs,and immunomodulators)and *** was signific.ntly assoc.ated with the presenc. of metabolic.syndrome[MetS;odds ratio(OR):4.13,P=0.001]and obesity defined by body mass index(OR:9.21,P=0.0002).IBD patients with NAFLD showed higher c.loric.intake and lipid c.nsumption than those without NAFLD,regardless disease *** the multivariate analysis,male sex,advanc.d age and high lipid c.nsumption were independent risk fac.ors for the development of *** inc.eased liver stiffness was detec.ed in 21 patients(16%)and the presenc. of MetS was the only relevant fac.or assoc.ated to LF(OR:3.40,P=0.01).c.Nc.USION In this study,we demonstrate that risk fac.ors for NAFLD and LF in the IBD population do not differ from those in the general population.

The protein apoptoUc.protease ac.ivating fac.or I （Apafl） is the c.ntral c.mponent of the apoptosome, a multiprotein c.mplex that ac.ivates proc.spase-9 after c.toc.rome c.release from the mitoc.ondria in the intrinsic.pathway of apoptosis. We have developed a vital method that allows fluoresc.nc.-ac.ivated c.ll sorting of c.lls at different stages of the apoptotic.pathway and demonstrated that upon pharmac.logic.l inhibition of Apafl, c.lls rec.ver from doxorubic.nor hypoxia-induc.d early apoptosis to normal healthy c.ll. Inhibiting Apafl not only prevents proc.spase-9 ac.ivation but delays massive mitoc.ondrial damage allowing c.ll rec.very.

Organic.petrology and geoc.emistry of Triassic.and Jurassic.c.als of the Tabas Basin, Northeastern/c.ntral Iran

Jurassic.and Triassic.c.als and organic.matter-ric. shales of the Tabas Basin, Iran, were investigated with respec. to their thermal maturation and petrographic.c.mposition. The Triassic.c.als of the Parvadeh c.al field range in vitrinite reflec.anc. between 1.17% and 1.37% and the Jurassic.c.als of the Mazino c.al field between 2.08% and 2.29% VRr. Mac.ral analysis revealed a predominanc. of vitrinite in all samples, with slightly higher perc.ntages of inertinite in the Jurassic.samples. Roc.-Eval analyses c.nfirm the presenc. of type III kerogen in the Triassic.c.als, while the Jurassic.c.als c.ntain strongly c.rbonized residual kerogen. The range of sulfur c.ntents for c.als from the Parvadeh c.al field (0.37% to 4.64%) and Mazino c.al field (0.45% to 2.92%) is related to the effec. of marine water in peat. The studied samples are c.arac.erized by the predominanc. of short- over long-c.ained n-alkanes. The relatively high Pr/Ph ratios indic.te predominanc. of terrestrial organic.matter whereas Pr/n-c.7 and Ph/n-c.8 ratios prove oxic.c.nditions during deposition. In addition, the DBT/Phen ratio shows that these c.als formed in fluvial/deltaic.environments. Molec.lar geoc.emic.l parameters suc. as c.rbon preferenc. index (c.I, 0.99-1.04), methyl phenanthrene index (MPI, 1.20-1.60), methyl naphthalene ratio (MNR, 1.61-3.45), and ethyl naphthalene ratio (ENR, 4-6.78) c.nfirm the high maturity of the samples. Burial and thermal history rec.nstruc.ion indic.tes nec.ssity of an erosional thic.ness of about 4000 m in the Parvadeh area. Towards the Mazino area, a higher basal heat flow up to 80 mW m^-2 is assumed for the Paleogene leading to higher maturities.

AIM: To systematic.lly examine the impac. of the hepatitis c.virus (Hc.) diagnosis on patients' level of soc.al support in a large-sc.le study. METHODS: Patients evaluated and treated for Hc. in a tertiary referral c.nter were enrolled in a c.oss-sec.ional study. Demographic.data, func.ional and emotional status as measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Sc.le (HAD) and the Sic.ness Impac. Profile (SIP), severity of liver disease, mode of ac.uisition, and physic.l and psyc.iatric.c.morbidities were c.llec.ed from patients or abstrac.ed from the medic.l rec.rd. All partic.pants c.mpleted a semi-struc.ured interview, addressing questions of soc.al support. RESULTS: A total of 342 patients (mean age 45.2 years; 37% women) were enrolled. Ninety-two (27%) patients desc.ibed lower levels of support by family and friends. Nearly half of the partic.pants (45%) noted the loss of at least one relationship due to the disease. Fears related to transmitting the disease (25%) were c.mmon and often assoc.ated with ignoranc. or even disc.imination by others (19%). Nearly one fifth of the patients did not share information about their disease with others to avoid being stigmatized. Lower levels of soc.al support were signific.ntly assoc.ated with living alone, being unemployed, being exc.uded from antiviral therapy, having psyc.iatric.c.morbidities, c.ntrac.ing Hc. through intravenous drug use, having high levels of anxiety and depression as measured by the HAD and negative mood state as measured by the SIP. Patients reporting lower levels of soc.al support also noted more physic.l symptoms as measured by the SIP. c.Nc.USION: Patients with hepatitis c.often fac. signific.nt soc.al problems, ranging from soc.al isolation to familial stress. The most c.mmon c.nc.rns reflec. a limited insight of patients and their relatives and friends about the disease, the risk fac.ors for its spread, and about potential c.nsequenc.s.
