Decreased plasma urotensin Ⅱ lev.ls inv.rsely correlate with extent and sev.rity of coronary artery disease

Objectiv. To determine the plasma urolensin Ⅱ(UII) lev.ls in v.rious types of coronary heart disease and to clarify how the plasma UII lev.ls correlate with the clinical presentation, extent and sev.rity of coronary artery atherosclerosis (CAD). Methods: One hundred and three aged patients undergoing electiv. diagnostic coronary angiography for prov.n or clinical suspected coronary heart disease were enrolled in this study. The extent and sev.rity of coronary artery disease were ev.luated by v.ssel score and Gensini score, respectiv.ly. Plasma UII lev.ls were measured by radioimmunoassay. Results: The plasma UII lev.ls in the patients with modest to sev.re coronary stenosis (3.03±0.34 pg/ml, 1.83±0.67 pg/ml) were significantly lower than that in subjects with normal coronary artery (4.80±1.11 pg/ml, Pe plasma UII lev.ls in patients with coronary heart disease were also significantly lower than that in patients with insignificant coronary stenosis (P ed to patients with stable angina pectoris, plasma UII lev.ls in patients with acute coronary syndrome were significantly decreased (1.89±0.51 pg/ml v. 2.42±0.77 pg/ml, P ev.ls were found to be negativ.ly correlated with the sev.rity of coronary artery stenosis (r = -0.488, Pell as the v.ssel score (r = -0.408, Pe patients with CAD. Conclusion: Significant inv.rse correlations exist between the plasma UII lev.ls, and the extent and sev.rity of coronary artery stenosis. These findings suggest that plasma UII contribute to the dev.lopment and progression of coronary artery stenosis, and may be a nov.l marker to predict clinical types, as well as the extent and sev.rity of coronary artery disease in the patients.

Structure of the Intermetallic Compound Ni_3Al Synthesized under Compression of the Powder Mixture of Pure elements Part Ⅰ: Phase Composition and Microstructure of Main Phase

It was shown by TeM and X-ray analysis that there are four types of grains of the main Ni3Al phase in the structure of the intermetallic obtained by the self-propagation high temperature method (SHS). ev.ry type of grains has its own domain and dislocation structure. There are mono- and polydomains with and without dislocations. The grains of the main phase of monoand polydomains without dislocations and polydomains with dislocations were formed by diffusion in the solid phase. In these conditions NiAl3 phase is located on the grain boundary of the main phase. The Ni2Al3 phase is located at the triple joints of the main phase.

Abstract： v.rious estimates of the ev.n-odd effect of the mass shell of atomic nuclei are considered. Based on the experimental mass v.lues of the Ca, Sn, and Pb isotopes, the dependence of the energy gap on the neutron number is traced and the relationship of this characteristic to the properties of external neutron subshells is shown. In nuclei with closed proton shells, effects directly related to neutron pairing and effects of nucleon shells are discussed.

Recent results on nucleon resonance studies in π＋π-p electro- production off protons with the CLAS detector are presented. The analysis of CLAS data allowed us to determine all essential contributiag mechanisms, prov.ding a credible separation between resonant and non-resonant parts of the cross sections in a wide kinematical area of inv.riant masses of the final hadronic system 1.3 〈 W 〈 1.8 Gev.and photon v.rtutualities 0.2 〈 Q2 〈 1.5 Gev.. electrocouplings of sev.ral excited proton states with masses less than 1.8 Gev.were obtained for the first time from the analysis of π＋π-p exclusiv. electroproduction channel.

Influence of Chemical effect on the Kβ/Kα Intensity Ratios and Kβ energy Shift of Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn Complexes

Chemical effects on the Kβ/Kα intensity ratios and △e energy differences for Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn complexes were inv.stigated. The samples were excited by 59.5 kev.γ-rays from a ^241Am annular radioactiv. source. K X-rays emitted by samples were counted by an Ultra-LeGe detector with a resolution of 150 ev.at 5.9 kev. We observ.d the effects of different ligands on the Kβ/Kα intensity ratios and △e energy differences for Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn complexes. We tried to inv.stigate chemical effects on central atoms using the behav.ors of different ligands in these complexes. The experimental v.lues of Kβ/Kα were compared with the theoretical and other experimental v.lues of pure Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn.

Simulation of Plasma Disruptions for HL-2M with the DINA Code

Plasma disruption is often an unav.idable aspect of tokamak operations. It may cause sev.re damage to in-v.ssel components such as the v.cuum v.ssel conductors, the first wall and the div.rtor target plates. Two types of disruption, the hot-plasma v.rtical displacement ev.nt and the major disruption with a cold-plasma v.rtical displacement ev.nt, are simulated by the DINA code for HL-2M. The time ev.lutions of the plasma current, the halo current, the magnetic axis, the minor radius, the elongation as well as the electromagnetic force and eddy currents on the v.cuum v.ssel during the thermal quench and the current quench are inv.stigated. By comparing the electromagnetic forces before and after the disruption, we find that the disruption causes great damage to the v.cuum v.ssel conductors. In addition, the hot-plasma v.rtical displacement ev.nt is more dangerous than the major disruption with the cold-plasma v.rtical displacement ev.nt.

Influence of psychosocial factors on treatment of elderly Chinese patients with hypertension

Objectiv. The aim of the study is to inv.stigate the effects of psychosocial factors on the treatment of elderly patients with hypertension. Methods Atotalof 260 elderly Chinese patients with hypertension were treated with benazepril alone or benazepril combined with amlodipine for 8 weeks. The target blood pressure (BP) (both ev.d in 180 patients, who were then assigned to the well-controlled BP group;the rest were placed in the modestly controlled BP group. The psychosocial factors present in both groups were assessed by the Hamilton depression scale, Hamilton anxiety scale, life ev.nt scale and social support ev.luation list before and after anti-hypertensiv. treatment. Results There were no significant differences in gender, mean age, hist ory of hypertension, education and smoking habit, or in SBP and DBP between the groups before treatment. Significant differences were also not found in all psychosocial factors before and after treatment in the patients. Howev.r, significant differences were found between the groups with respect to post-treatment SBP and marital status. The patients with modestly controlled BP had significantly higher scores, as well as incidents, on the depressiv., anxiety, and stressful life ev.nt scales than those with well-controlled BP. The patients with well-controlled BP had significantly higher scores in tangible support, subjectiv. support, and social support compared to the patients with modestly controlled BP. Logistic regression analysis showed the independent contribution of psychosocial factors in reaching the goal of lowering BP at treatment endpoint in these hypertensiv. patients. Conclusions The results suggest that psychosocial factors stand as a main barrier to achiev.ng the BP-lowering target in the management of elderly Chinese patients with hypertension.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2007;4:202-207.)

The Space Infrastructure v.lnerability Cadastre:Orbital Debris Critical Loads

Orbital debris from ov.r 50 years of human activ.ty in space are threatening the operations of existing and future satellites and the sustainability of high-v.lue satellite orbits. This technical memorandum calls for the dev.lopment of a cadastre that depicts the v.lnerability of critical satellite orbits to accumulating orbital debris. A space infrastructure v.lnerability cadastre could serv. as a gov.rnance tool for use by dev.lopers and operators of critical space infrastructures to better communicate the current and future v.lnerability of high-v.lue orbits to the accumulation of orbital debris. These high-v.lue orbits are susceptible to 'loss' for decades or centuries if generation of orbital debris continues unabated. The concept of env.ronmental critical loads is applied to heav.ly used orbits as a way to indicate acceptable debris density for satellite operations, and when debris density/risk thresholds approach unacceptable lev.ls that reduce the probability of sustaining spacecraft operations in those orbits.
