Effects of miR-219/miR-338 on microglia and astrocyte behaviors and astrocyte-oligodendrocyte precursor cell interactions

MiR-219 and miR-338(miR-219/miR-338)are oligodendrocyte-specific *** overexpression of these miRs in oligodendrocyte precursor cells promotes their differentiation and maturation into oligodendrocytes,which may enhance axonal remyelination after nerve injuries in the central nervous system(CNS).As such,the delivery of miR-219/miR-338 to the CNS to promote oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation,maturation and myelination could be a promising approach for nerve ***,nerve injuries in the CNS also involve other cell types,such as microglia and ***,we investigated the effects of miR-219/miR-338 treatment on microglia and astrocytes in vitro and in *** found that miR-219/miR-338 diminished microglial expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and suppressed astrocyte *** addition,we showed that miR-219/miR-338 enhanced oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation and maturation in a scratch assay paradigm that re-created a nerve injury condition in ***,our results suggest miR-219/miR-338 as a promising treatment for axonal remyelination in the CNS following nerve *** experimental procedures were approved by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee(IACUC),Nanyang Technological University(approval No.A0309 and A0333)on April 27,2016 and October 8,2016.

Importance:Nutritional status of infants,measured by birth weight and length,is an essential factor in neonatal *** in newborns may lead to a higher risk of mortality,neurological and cognitive impairment,and poor language ***:This study aims to assess the nutritional status of infants and related factors regarding maternal anthropometric characteristics and medical ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology,Vietnam from May 2021 to May 2022 on 340 infants and *** birth weight was defined following the Intergrowth-21 *** was evaluated using the Fenton growth chart when the length was below the 10%percentile line of the gestational *** regression models were applied to identify factors associated with the nutritional status of ***:We found that 12.4%and 14.1%of infants in our study fell into stunted and underweight categories,*** of mothers over 35 years old,having a height lower than 150 cm or experiencing anemia during pregnancy were more likely to be stunted or have low birth *** albumin deficiency during pregnancy was strongly associated with the infant being underweight(odds ratio[OR]=2.8,95%confidence interval[95%CI]1.1–7.3).Newborns were more likely to be stunted if their mothers had a history of preterm birth(OR=3.3,95%CI 1.1–10.2).Interpretation:Maternal nutritional status is closely related to infant malnutrition,particularly in preterm *** the understanding of mothers regarding prenatal care,reproductive healthcare,adequate nutritional diet,and multi-micronutrient supplements during pregnancy is therefore important.

Structured NiFe catalysts derived from in-situ grown layered double hydroxides on ceramic monolith for CO_(2) methanation

Monolithic catalysts for CO_(2) methanation have become an active research area for the industrial development of Power-to-Gas *** this study,we developed a facile and reproducible synthesis strategy for the preparation of structured NiFe catalysts on washcoated cordierite monoliths for CO_(2) *** NiFe catalysts were derived from in-situ grown layered double hydroxides(LDHs)via urea *** influence of different washcoat materials,i.e.,alumina and silica colloidal suspensions on the formation of LDHs layer was investigated,together with the impact of total metal *** LDHs were precipitated on the exterior surface of cordierite washcoated with alumina,while it was found to deposit further inside the channel wall of monolith washcoated with silica due to different intrinsic properties of the colloidal *** the other hand,the thickness of in-situ grown LDHs layers and the catalyst loading could be increased by high metal *** best monolithic catalyst(COR-AluCC-0.5M)was robust,having a thin and well-adhered catalytic layer on the cordierite *** a result,high methane yield was obtained from CO_(2) methanation at high flow rate on this structured NiFe *** monolithic catalysts appeared as promising structured catalysts for the development of industrial methanation reactor.

In this work we investigate the pricing of swing options in a model where the underlying asset follows a jump diffusion *** focus on the derivation of the partial integro-differential equation(PIDE)which will be applied to swing contracts and construct a novel pay-off function from a tree-based pay-off matrix that can be used as initial condition in the PIDE *** valuing swing type derivatives we develop a theta implicit-explicit finite difference scheme to discretize the PIDE using a Gaussian quadrature method for the integral *** on known results for the classical theta-method the existence and uniqueness of solution to the new implicit-explicit finite difference method is *** numerical examples illustrate the usability of the proposed method and allow us to analyse the sensitivity of swing options with respect to model *** particular the effects of number of exercise rights,jump intensities and dividend yields will be investigated in depth.

The fingerprint identification technology has been developed and applied effectively to security systems in financial transactions,personal information security,national security,and other *** this paper,we proposed the development of a fingerprint identification system based on image processing methods that clarify fingerprint contours,using machine learning methods to increase processing speed and increase the accuracy of the fingerprint identification *** identification system consists of the following main steps:improving image quality and image segmentation to identify the fingerprint area,extracting features,and matching the *** accuracy of the system reached 97.75%on the mixed high-and low-quality fingerprint database.

An isogeometric approach for nonlocal bending and free oscillation of magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded nanobeam with elastic constraints

This work uses isogeometric analysis(IGA),which is based on nonlocal hypothesis and higher-order shear beam hypothesis,to investigate the static bending and free oscillation of a magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded(MEE-FG)nanobeam subject to elastic boundary constraints(BCs).The magneto-electric boundary condition and the Maxwell equation are used to calculate the variation of electric and magnetic potentials along the thickness direction of the *** study is innovative since it does not use the conventional boundary ***,an elastic system of straight and torsion springs with controllable stiffness is used to support nanobeams’beginning and end positions,creating customizable *** governing equations of motion of nanobeams are established by applying Hamilton’s principle and IGA is used to determine deflections and natural frequency *** studies were performed to evaluate the convergence and accuracy of the proposed *** from this,the impact of the input parameters on the static bending and free oscillation of the MEE-FG nanobeam is examined in *** findings could be valuable for analyzing and designing innovative structures constructed of functionally graded MEE materials.

Ardisia gigantifolia ethanolic extract inhibits cell proliferation and targets cancer stem cells in gastric cancer

Objective:To evaluate the effects of ethanol extract from Ardisia gigantifolia leaves on cell proliferation and cancer stem cell(CSC)number in gastric ***:The inhibitory effect of Ardisia gigantifolia extract on the proliferation of MKN45 and MKN74 gastric cancer cells was assessed using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazole-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide ***-adherent culture(3D)model was used to evaluate the effect of the extract on tumorsphere size and ***,the expression of CD44,ALDH,and p21 was determined by immunofluorescence *** cytometric analysis was performed to evaluate cell cycle arrest and the expression of gastric CSC markers CD44 and ***-time PCR analysis was also carried out to assess the effect of the extract on the expression of cell cycle-regulated ***:Ardisia gigantifolia extract effectively inhibited cell proliferation with an IC_(50)of 55.7μg/m L in MKN45 cells and 123.6μg/m L in MKN74 *** extract also arrested cell cycle in the G_(0)/G_(1)phase as well as significantly reduced the size and number of *** markedly increased expression of p21 was observed at both m RNA and protein levels in the extract-treated adherent cells and *** addition,Ardisia gigantifolia extract significantly reduced the number of CD44-and/or ALDH-expressing gastric ***:The development of gastric CSC can be inhibited by the ethanol extract of Ardisia gigantifolia.

Assessment of the physicochemical properties and biological activity of Vietnamese single-bulb black garlic

This study assessed the quality and biological activity of Vietnamese single-bulb black garlic(SBG)by investigating the effect of different temperatures(60,65,70,and 75℃)on physicochemical properties during the heat treatment *** optimal treating conditions accounted for the highest concentration of antioxidants were 70℃for 42 *** SBG.70 had a higher content of reducing sugar,protein,flavonoid,and polyphenol in comparison with the white garlic and the *** activity of single-bulb white garlic and SBG were measured via DPPH,phosphomolybdenum,and H2O2 radicals,as well as a reduction *** antimicrobial activity was assessed by the multi-concentration dilution method;the sample treated at 70℃displayed the strongest activity against four microbial strains with MIC values for ***,***,***,and *** of 64,128,128,and 64μg/mL,***,only two SBG samples aged at 70℃and 75℃were bacteriostatic to *** with MIC values of 32 and 64μg/mL,respectively.
