A cascaded system of electrical discharges (Non-thermal plasma), catalyst andadsorption process was investigated for the removal of oxides of nitrogen (NO_x) and carbonmonoxide (CO) from a diesel engine raw exhaust. The three processes were separately studied first,and then the cascaded processes, namely plasma-catalyst and plasma-adsorbent, were investigated. Inthis paper main emphasis was laid on the effect of carbonaceous soot oxidation on the plasmatreatment process. While the cascaded plasma-catalyst process exhibits a higher CO removal, thecascaded plasma-adsorbent process exhibits a higher NO_x removal. The experiments were conductedunder no-load. The plasma and adsorbent reactors were kept at room temperature throughout theexperiment while the catalyst reactor was kept at 200℃ / 300℃.

The perfect image retrieval and retrieval time are the two major challenges inCbIR systems. To improve the retrieval accuracy, the whole database is searched basedon many image characteristics such as color, shape, texture and edge information whichleads to more time consumption. This paper presents a new fuzzy based CbIR method,which utilizes colour, shape and texture attributes of the image. Fuzzy rule based systemis developed by combining color, shape, and texture feature for enhanced image *** this approach, dWT is used to pull out the texture characteristics and the region basedmoment invariant is utilized to pull out the shape features of an image. Color similarityand texture attributes are extorted using customized Color difference Histogram (CdH).The performance evaluation based on precision and bEP measures reveals the superiorityof the proposed method over renowned obtainable approaches.

Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) was applied to Mg-6Gd-3Y-0.5Zr (GW63) alloy to reduce shrinkage porosity, thus, to enhance the integrity and reliability of castings. during HIP process, shrinkage porosity was closed by grain compatible deformation and subsequent diffusion across the bonding interface. The amount of initial shrinkage porosity was the key factor for shrinkage porosity closure. HIP was testified to be effective on shrinkage porosity reduction in GW63 alloy due to its relatively narrow solidification range and resultant low content of initial shrinkage porosity in most sections, leading to higher tensile properties both in as-cast and cast-T6 condition. The improvement in tensile properties was mainly because of shrinkage porosity reduction and resultant effective rare-earth (RE) elements homogenization and precipitation strengthening.

Platforms I and II are steel structures located in offshore areas southeast of the Zhujiang (Pearl) River delta, the northern South China Sea,. in about 110 in water depth. The jackets, with aluminum sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection (CP) of the immersed zone, were launched in March 1995. In May 096 a CP survey showed that, after almost one year of service, a low polarization level had been achieved and some extended unprotected zones existed; mainly in the deepest part of the Platform II. Further to this, a joint activity was decided in order to assess the need of a possible retrofitting of the CP systems. The results of the activity carried out are dealt with, including technical and economical comparisons amongst several retrofitting options, both with sacrificial anodes and with impressed current systems. The adopted solution is illustrated and data are reported on the level of protection presently achieved.

Inadequate delivery of nutrients results in intrauterine growth restriction （IUGR）, which is a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality in livestock. In ruminants, inadequate nutrition during pregnancy is often prevalent due to frequent utilization of exensive forage based grazing systems, making them highly susceptible to changes in nutrient quality and availability. delivery of nutrients to the fetus is dependent on a number of critical factors including placental growth and development, utero-placental blood flow, nutrient availability, and placenta metabolism and transport capacity. Previous findings from our laboratory and others, highlight essential roles for amino acids and their metabolites in supporting normal fetal growth and development, as well as the critical role for amino acid transporters in nutrient delivery to the fetus. The focus of this review will be on the role of materna nutrition on placental form and function as a regulator of fetal development in ruminants.

The sorption study of La(Ⅲ) was carried out on poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6] and L-valine medium. The quantitative adsorption of La(Ⅲ) was found at 1×10-2 to 1×10-5 mol/L L-valine. The various eluting agents were found efficient eluents for La(Ⅲ). The capacity of crown polymer for La(Ⅲ) was found to be 0.43 ±0.01 mmol/g. The tolerance limit of various cations and anions for La(Ⅲ) was determined. La(Ⅲ) was quantitatively separated from other metal ions in binary as well as multicomponent mixtures. The study was extended to sequential separation of La(Ⅲ), U(VI) and Th(IV). The good separation yields were obtained and had good reproducibility (±2%). The method incorporated the determination of La(Ⅲ) in real sample. The method was simple, rapid and selective.
