Objective: To investigate the cytotoxic, antioxidant and antibacterial activities of ethanolic and aqueous crude extracts of Nerium oleander(N. oleander) leaves. Methods: Cytotoxic activities were evaluated by WST-1 bioassay on two human cancer cell lines, namely human colon adenocarcinoma cell line HT-29 and human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The antioxidant property of N. oleander extracts was assessed by DPPH scavenging and he agar disc diffusion method was used for the determination of an毬-carotene bleaching tests. Ttimicrobial activity against different strains. Results: Using cell viability indices, the WST-1 test revealed that both extracts reduced cell viability in both cell lines. Our results also showed that aqueous extract was more active than ethanolic extract, with IC50 values of(1.67±0.22) μg/mL and(2.36±0.44) μg/mL on MDA-MB-231 cells, and(2.89±0.35) μg/mL and(5.09±0.52) μg/mL on HT29 cells, respectively. The study of the antioxidant activity showed that N. oleander extracts had a considerable scavenging capacity and exerted a significant preventive effect against the oxidation of 毬-carotene by the peroxide radicals. However, the antibacterial test showed that both ethanolic and aqueous extracts of N. oleander had a moderate antibacterial effect limited only to Gram-positive bacteria. Conclusions: Our results shows that N. oleander aqueous and ethanolic extracts have significant cytotoxic activities against tumor cell lines and possesses a strong antioxidant capacity, suggesting the presence of active compounds in N. oleander leaves that could be a potential source of phytochemicals with high medicinal value to be used in cancer treatment and prevention.

Dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs) secrete neurotrophic factors which may play an important therapeutic role in neural development, maintenance and repair. To test this hypothesis, DPSCs-conditioned medium(DPSCs-CM) was collected from 72 hours serum-free DPSCs cultures. The impact of DPSCs-derived factors on PC12 survival, growth, migration and differentiation was investigated. PC12 cells were treated with nerve growth factor(NGF), DPSCs-CM or co-cultured with DPSCs using Transwell inserts for 8 days. The number of surviving cells with neurite outgrowths and the length of neurites were measured by image analysis. Immunocytochemical staining was used to evaluate the expression of neuronal markers NeuN, microtubule associated protein 2(MAP-2) and cytoskeletal marker βIII-tubulin. Gene expression levels of axonal growth-associated protein 43 and synaptic protein Synapsin-I, NeuN, MAP-2 and βIII-tubulin were analysed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR). DPSCs-CM was analysed for the neurotrophic factors(NGF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor [BDNF], neurotrophin-3, and glial cell-derived neurotrophic factor [GDNF]) by specific ELISAs. Specific neutralizing antibodies against the detected neurotrophic factors were used to study their exact role on PC12 neuronal survival and neurite outgrowth extension. DPSCs-CM significantly promoted cell survival and induced the neurite outgrowth confirmed by NeuN, MAP-2 and βIII-tubulin immunostaining. Furthermore, DPSCsCM was significantly more effective in stimulating PC12 neurite outgrowths than live DPSCs/PC12 co-cultures over the time studied. The morphology of induced PC12 cells in DPSCs-CM was similar to NGF positive controls;however, DPSCs-CM stimulation of cell survival was significantly higher than what was seen in NGF-treated cultures. OBJECTIVE: To describe the common causes of headache as well as the different methods of Phlebotomy(Fasd) and wet Cupping(Hijamat) based on Persian ***: In this study, we searched Google Scholar, Science Direct, Pub Med and Scopus to get any in vitro or clinical evidence of the efficacy and possible mechanisms of phlebotomy or wet cupping on different types of headaches. Also different types of headaches, according to PM, under the title of "Sodaa"; extracted from famous Persian medical text books with key words including "Sodaa","Bayze" and "Shaqiqe".RESULTS: According to PM, diseases(dystemperament) are created by abnormal alteration in temperament. Temperament is a monolithic quality yielded by interaction between opposing qualities of four elements that are coldness, hotness, dryness and wetness. Headaches are caused by dystemperament(sue-Mizaj) in brain or in total body that are divided into simple and corporal. Common forms of the latter type are Vaporal and Migrant headache(Bokhari and Rihi). Each of these headaches is treated either through phlebotomy or wet ***: In Persian Medicine, Fasd and Hijamat are easy and economical methods for treatment of headache with reasonable results. By describing the precise areas and indications of phlebotomy and wet cupping, this study provides the first step for future clinical trials in this field.

AIM:To evaluate the retinal safety of various doses of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide(TA)in ***:Thirty New Zealand albino rabbits were divided into five groups(six animals each).In group 1(control group),each animal received a single intravitreal injection of 0.1 mL phosphate buffered *** groups2,3,4 and 5,each rabbit received a single intravitreal injection of 4,8,16 and 32mg of TA,*** dose was contained in 0.1 mL phosphate buffered *** ocular examinations were performed before the injection and on the 1st,3rd,10th and 17th postinjection days.A standard dark adapted electroretinogram(ERG)was obtained before injection and on the 3rd,10th and 17th post-injection ***17d,animals were sacrificed and their eyes prepared for pathological ***:By monitoring ERG as a functional index for the retina,intravitreal injection of 4mg TA showed no significant ERG *** doses of 8,16 and 32,hyper-abnormal responses in a-and b-waves of ERG were detected on the 3rd post-injection *** changes gradually returned back to normal limits *** examination of the retina of all animals showed no pathological ***:High doses of intravitreal TA seemed to have enhancing effects on the retinal function with gradual return to normal limits with no pathological changes detected in examined eyes.

Biobased smart packaging is been the most interesting research *** this study,pH-sensitive films based on anthocyanin molecules from red cabbage and sepiolite mineral nano-clay as functional additives were *** films were fabricated by casting method of blend polymer Chitosan/Poly(Vinyl Alcohol)at two fillers loading(5wt.%and 10wt.%).The structural,morphological,thermal,optical,hygroscopic,and mechanical properties as well as the pH sensitivity of films were *** thermal properties confirm that the amount of the anthocyanin in sepiolite was around 6.4%.The tensile strength and the young’s modulus of produced composites at 10wt.%sepiolite–anthocyanin content was increased to 8.90 MPa and 163 MPa,*** maximum water absorption that the films may absorb was 12.3%.pH sensitivity analysis showed that the Smart films change the color by changing the pH level,from pink at pH lower than 6 to yellow at pH higher than ***,the developed pH-sensitive films show band gaps in visible light that make them useful for monitoring milk spoilage.
