Numerica. Investiga.ion of the Pla.ma.Forma.ion in Distilled Wa.er by Nd-Ya. La.er Pulses of Different Dura.ion

Wa.er brea.down studies by Nd-Ya. la.er pulses of dura.ion 100 fs, 30 ps a.d 6 ns a. wa.elength 1064 nm a.e pre- formed to investiga.e the physica. mecha.isms which couple the la.er energy into the medium. Ca.cula.ions a.e ca.ried out a.plying a.modified kinetic model of wa.er brea.down previously developed by Kennedy (1995) to investiga.e the correla.ion between threshold intensity of brea.down a.d la.er pulse length. The modifica.ions considered the introduction of diffusion a.d recombina.ion loss processes which might ta.e pla.e under the experimenta. conditions a.plied in these ca.cula.ions. The va.idity of the model is tested by compa.ing the ca.cula.ed threshold intensities a.d the experimenta.ly mea.ured ones where good a.reement is shown. The study of the time evolution of the electron density cla.ifies the correla.ion between the pulse length a.d domina.t ioniza.ion mecha.ism. The a.a.ysis of the spa.ia. distribution of the electron density a.ong the ra.ia. a.d a.ia. dista.ces of the foca. spot showed tha. the size of the formed pla.ma.increa.es with the increa.e of the pulse length. On the other ha.d, studies of self-focusing effect illustra.ed tha. under the investiga.ed experimenta. conditions the effect of this process ha. a. effective contribution only a. la.er pulses of the order of femtosecond sca.e when the la.er bea. is focused by a.lens of a.foca. length ≥8.0 cm. This result in turns a.sures tha. using femtosecond pulses in ophtha.mic microsurgery could be a.sa.e tool from the retina. da.a.e.

The ra.iologica. impa.t of coa. a.hes, with enha.ced na.ura. ra.ioa.tivity in the stora.e site, is due to the presence of na.ura.ly occurring ra.ionuclides. Some of these ra.ionuclides ha.e a.ra.ioa.tive period of severa. million yea.s a.d will, therefore, ha.e time to migra.e to the soil, a.mospheric a.r, surfa.e wa.er, a.d groundwa.er. This impa.t depends ma.nly on the a.tivity of these coa. a.hes, the dura.ion of exposure to such wa.te, tra.sfers to the a.r, a.d the lea.hing phenomenon by ra.nwa.er. In this study, a.d so a. to a.sess the ra.iologica. impa.t of coa. a.hes of the stora.e site of the JLEC-Morocco therma. power pla.t on environment, some a.a.yses a.e performed by a.pha.dosimetry a.d a.digita. dosimeter on sa.ples of coa. a.hes, soil, a.mospheric a.r, surfa.e wa.er a.d groundwa.er belonging to a.perimeter of 10 km a.ound tha. site. The obta.ned results show tha., within the studied a.ea. the ra.iologica. impa.t on the soil of the coa. a.hes of the stora.e site is insignifica.t even though the concentra.ions of ra.on in the nea. vicinity (1 to 2 km) a.e modera.ely importa.t, a.d rema.n below 200 Bq/m3. In the a.mospheric a.r, this impa.t rema.ns medium for the neighborhoods of the stora.e site (2 to 3 km) with ra.on a.tivities superior to 10 Bq/m3. These results a.so show tha. there ma. be a.wa.er conta.ina.ion of wells loca.ed a. the stora.e site without a.y tra.sfer of ra.ioa.tivity into the groundwa.er of the a.ea.studied where the concentra.ions of ra.on a.e less tha. 11.1 Bq/l.

Purpose: To eva.ua.e the a.cura.y a.d limits of a.frozen section a.a.ysis in our depa.tment in order to develop a.qua.ity control. Ma.eria.s a.d methods: a.l frozen sections reported a. our depa.tment between 1st Ja.ua.y 2010 a.d 31st December 2010, ha.e been retrospectively eva.ua.ed. The frozen section results were compa.ed to perma.ent pa.a.fin section results. Results: Frozen sections a.d fina. dia.nosis a.reed in 95% a.d disa.reed in 5% (13 ca.es), 6.6% of the ca.es were deferred (17 ca.es). The most common pa.hologica. processes encountered were presence/typing of neopla.m (85.4%) a.d a.sessment of surgica. ma.gins (7.3%). Conclusion: The a.cura.y of frozen sections dia.nosis a. our depa.tment ca. be interpreted a. compa.a.le with the most interna.iona. qua.ity control series a.d is va.ua.le to a.sist surgeons in their decision.

In order to a.sess the qua.ity of the a.a.a.Gulf coa.ta. wa.ers for the susta.na.le use a.d development, a.d consequently for the na.iona. income, four field ca.pa.gns were a.nua.ly ca.ried out during the period from 2011-2013 to monitor hydrogra.hic va.ia.les, i.e. tempera.ure, sa.inity, pH, etc., nutrients, some hea.y meta.s, i.e. iron, lea., copper, ca.mium, chromium, etc. in a.dition to petroleum hydroca.bons. Except for the a.ea.of Sha.m El-Sheikh Ha.bor, the results for the density, composition, a.d distributions of bea.h litter clea.ed out tha. the Egyptia. shoreline of the a.a.a.Gulf is rela.ively not a.fected by ma.-ma.e litter. The a.ea.of Sha.m El-Sheikh Ha.bor wa. subjected to ma.y fa.tors which undoubtedly a.fected the ra.e of ma.-ma.e litter a.-cumula.ion, especia.ly, oil conta.ina.ion (oil a.d old or new ta.) which is a.good es-tima.or of levels of oil conta.ina.ion a.d a. effective mea.s of eva.ua.ing the poten-tia. threa. of oil on coa.ta. resources. The results of the present study clea.ed out a.so tha. wa.er tempera.ure followed sea.ona. cha.ges in a.r tempera.ure. a.a.a.Gulf wa.er is cha.a.terized by its high sa.inity a.d the presence of well oxygena.ed wa.ers. Minor cha.ges in the distribution of pH, BOD, DOM a.d COD, revea.ed limited effects of huma. impa.ts. Low levels of Chl-a.a.d TSM concentra.ions a.d high tra.spa.ency revea.ed a.so negligible effects for huma. impa.ts. Significa.tly higher sea.wa.er tempera.ures, TSM, DO, BOD, DOM, COD, NH4, NO2, PO4 a.d TP were observed in summer sea.on compa.ed to their corresponding va.ues in winter sea.on. The objective of the present work is to test the effectiveness of probiotic potency of regula. yoghurt, synbiotic yoghurt a.d tra.itiona. fermented Egyptia. sobya.conta.ning endogenous probiotic stra.ns compa.ed to unfermented rice milk porridge. Methods: The study consisted of 28 ma.e subjects with mea. a.e of 13.9 ± 0.1 yea.s. The subjects were divided into four groups, three groups consumed one of three fermented supplements, while the fourth group served a. a.control group. Stool a.d urina.y sa.ples were ca.ried out prefeeding a.d a.ter 3-week nutritiona. intervention for a.sessing five indica.ors of revela.ce to colonic meta.olic a.tivities. The fermented supplements used for eva.ua.ion were regula. yoghurt, synbiotic yoghurt a.d tra.itiona. fermented sobya.while the fourth group wa. given unfermented rice milk a.d served a. control. Intestina. permea.ility wa. a.sessed by the urina.y la.tulose ma.nitol ra.io. Results: The mea. feca. tota. la.toba.illi counts increa.ed (P a.ter da.ly consumption of the three fermented supplements (P a.ed to the pre-intervention levels. Simila. trends were observed for genus bifidoba.terium. On the contra.y, enteroba.tera.ea. counts were reduced in a.l the three groups consuming fermented supplements. The three-week dieta.y interventions with regula. yogurt or sobya.significa.tly reduced the la.tulose/ma.itol (L/M) ra.ios (Pa. urina.y a.ti-oxida.ive a.tivities increa.ed only a.ong subjects consumingsynbiotic yogurt for three weeks, compa.ed to pre-intervention period (Pa. trendwa. found a.ter consumption of fermented sobya. but the increa.e didn’t a.ta.n significa.t level (P>0.05). Objective:To eva.ua.e the knowledge a.d pra.tices of Morocca. physicia.s in terms of ra.ioprotection of pa.ients when prescribing computed tomogra.hy(CT)***:This is a.cross-sectiona. study in which a.questionna.re with 23 multiple-choice questions wa. sent to prescribers of CT exa.ina.ions such a. ra.iothera.ists(RMs),other medica. specia.ists(OMSs),genera. pra.titioners(GPs)a.d residents/interns(R/Is).The first eight questions a.ked a.out the demogra.hics of the pa.ticipa.ts,while the rema.ning questions a.ked a.out knowledge of ionizing ra.ia.ion exa.ina.ions,doses received,rela.ive risks,a.d pa.ient ra.ia.ion sa.ety ***:a.tota. of 223 physicia.s pa.ticipa.ed in this *** thera.ists,considered a. the reference group,ha. a.better knowledge of irra.ia.ing a.d non-irra.ia.ing ima.ing compa.ed to the other groups(P=0.003).Thus,67%of the reference group decla.ed to ta.e into a.count the number of sca.s performed by the pa.ient during the la.t yea.,unlike the other groups(P=0.002).Furthermore,the knowledge of the different groups a.out the risks rela.ed to exposure to ionizing ra.ia.ion wa. globa.ly low(2%)(P=0.73).Rega.dless of their specia.ties a.d seniority,only 12%of the pa.ticipa.ts informed the pa.ient a. the time of prescription a.out the risks of ***,only 21%of the pa.ticipa.ts decla.ed ha.ing ha. tra.ning in ra.ia.ion protection,with no significa.t differences between the subgroups(P=0.832).Conclusions:The results obta.ned a.e simila. to those reported in previous *** show tha. Klippel-Tréna.na. syndrome (KTS) is a. uncommon congenita. disorder with unknown etiology tha. consists of mixed va.cula. ma.forma.ions. Viscera. orga.s ma. a.so be involved lea.ing to a.va.iety of ma.ifesta.ions. a.though seemingly uncommon, genita. tra.t involvement ca. occur a.d be a.source of significa.t morbidity. We hereby describe a.ca.e of KTS of a.7-yea.-old fema.e pa.ient presenting with genita. bleeding, la.ge venous a.d ca.illa.y ma.forma.ions a.d soft tissue hypertrophy of right limb. Pa.ient wa. trea.ed conserva.ively a.d a.ked to follow-up regula.ly. KTS should be kept on mind a. a.ca.se of va.ina. bleeding in preteen girls especia.ly those with suggestive clinica. fea.ures. Ma.a.ement of this complex condition is cha.lenging beca.se of its progressive na.ure a.d wide ra.ge of disea.e severity.

The topic of ca.bon sequestra.ion in forest ecosystems ha. recently ta.en a.lot of a.tention due to concerns a.out globa. clima.e cha.ge. a. a.sponta.eous species of the Centra. Middle a.la., the a.la. Ceda. wa. the subject of our study. Thus, a.tota. of 30 sa.ple trees were subjected to the weight mea.urements for the estima.ion of bioma.s a.d orga.ic ca.bon stock in a.logging lot in the a.rou forest. The a.ount of sequestered ca.bon wa. then extra.ola.ed in a.l sta.d forests studied from the developed ca.boma.s models. The results obta.ned show tha. the la.gest a.loca.ion of ca.bon stock (93%) is in the stem, followed by bra.ches (5%) a.d folia.e (2%). The a.era.e ca.bon stora.e in this ceda. forest is 99.42 tC/ha.(a.oveground a.d belowground), or 364.58 t/ha.of CO2, a.va.ue significa.tly higher tha. tha. found in other Morocca. forest ecosystems.
