Nanoparticles-based nanochannels assembled on a plastic flexible substrate for label-free immunosensing

A novel, cheap, disposable and single-use nanoparticles-based nanochannel platform assembled on a flexible substrate for label-free immunosensing is pre- sented. This sensing platform is formed by the dip-coating of a homogeneous and assembled monolayer of carboxylated polystyrene nanospheres （PS, 200 and 500 nm-sized） onto the working area of flexible screen-printed indium tin oxide/polyethylene terephthalate （ITO/PET） electrodes. The spaces between the self-assembled nanospheres generate well-ordered nanochannels, with inter-PS particles distances of around 65 and 24 nm respectively. The formed nanochannels are used for the effective immobilization of antibodies and subsequent protein detection based on the monitoring of [Fe（CN）6]^4- flow through diffusion and the decrease in the differential pulse voltammetric signal upon immunocomplex formation. The obtained sensing system is nanochannel-size dependent and allows human immunoglobulin G （IgG）（chosen as a model analyte） to be detected at levels of 580 ng/mL. The system also exhibits an excellent specificity against other proteins present in real samples and shows good performance with a human urine sample. The developed device represents an integrated and simple biodetection system which overcomes many of the limitations of previously reported nanochannels-based approaches and can be extended in the future to several other immuno and DNA detection systems.

Electrochemical recovery of Pt/C electrocatalyst: optimization of the potential range on the leaching process and application to an aged MEA

Carbon-supported platinum nanoparticles (Pt/C) are widely used electrocatalysts in proton exchange membrane fuel cell and electrolyzer applications and represent a substantial part of the capital expenditure of these devices. Platinum being a critical raw material, its recovery is critical for the deployment of these technologies. In this contribution, the first step of a recycling protocol, i.e. the leaching of Pt/C, is studied. To avoid the use of concentrated acids and oxidants, the focus of the present study is on the design of an efficient electrochemical protocol. In particular, the values of the upper and lower potential limits have an impact on Pt dissolution efficiency. The upper potential limit should avoid (or at least limit) Pt particles' detachment from the carbon support and the lower potential limit should take into account the competition between the platinum dissolution and the unwanted platinum redeposition. The evolution of the particle morphology and dissolution rate were monitored by coupling a statistical analysis of TEM images and ICP-MS concentration measurements. The cycling potential window was first optimized for a model commercial Pt/C catalyst in a low-chloride concentration electrolyte, leading to a full Pt leaching efficiency (99%). A similar protocol was transferred to more technological objects: MEA aged under realistic conditions. The MEAs were electrochemically treated without any prior GDL separation and the efficiency of the process was ***: MEA recycling;Platinum electrodissolution;Platinum recovery.

Methodological Approaches to Study Internet Financial Communication

The aim of this paper is to show how qualitative and quantitative approaches can be complementary to study internet financial communication in a thesis by papers and how grounded theory （GT） can be the link among the different papers of the thesis. The study context of our thesis was the unregulated markets of New York Stock Exchange （NYSE） Euronext Brussels and the problematic rose from this context： What is the voluntary effort of communication when there is no obligation of internet financial communication？ Four papers tried to answer this central question and other following research questions. To answer those research questions, several methodological approaches were used： content analysis of websites and scoring, linear regression, paired sample, and interviews. At the end of our thesis by papers, we discovered that GT was the general methodological travel among the papers： Every article had for vocation to try to answer the questions raised by the previous article.

NTR/NRX Define a New Thioredoxin System in the Nucleus of Arabidopsis thaliana Cells

Thioredoxins （TRX） are key components of cellular redox balance, regulating many target proteins through thiol/disulfide exchange reactions. In higher plants, TRX constitute a complex multigenic family whose members have been found in almost all cellular compartments. Although chloroplastic and cytosolic TRX systems have been largely studied, the presence of a nuclear TRX system has been elusive for a long time. Nucleoredoxins （NRX） are potential nuclear TRX found in most eukaryotic organisms. In contrast to mammals, which harbor a unique NRX, angiosperms gen- erally possess multiple NRX organized in three subfamilies. Here, we show thatArabidopsis thaliana has two NRXgenes （AtNRX1 and AtNRX2）, respectively, belonging to subgroups I and III. While NRX1 harbors typical TRX active sites （WCG/ PPC）, NRX2 has atypical active sites （WCRPC and WCPPF）. Nevertheless, both NRXl and NRX2 have disulfide reduction capacities, although NRX1 alone can be reduced by the thioredoxin reductase NTRA. We also show that both NRX1 and NRX2 have a dual nuclear/cytosolic localization. Interestingly, we found that NTRA, previously identified as a cytosolic protein, is also partially localized in the nucleus, suggesting that a complete TRX system is functional in the nucleus. We show that NRX1 is mainly found as a dimer in vivo. nrxl and nrx2 knockout mutant plants exhibit no phenotypic perturbations under standard growth conditions. However, the nrxl mutant shows a reduced pollen fertility phenotype, suggesting a specific role of NRX1 at the haploid phase.
