Highl. active antiretroviral.treatment(HAART) has had a significant impact on survival.of individual. with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS);however,with the l.nger l.fe-span of patients with AIDS,there is increasing preval.nce of AIDS dementia compl.x(ADC) and other non-AIDS-defining il.ness,and cardiovascul.r diseases(CVD) are al.o *** infl.ence of these varied disease processes on HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues has not been thoroughl. assessed in the post-HAART *** purpose of the current study is to cl.rify the impacts of ADC and other compl.cations of HIV disease on the viral.l.ad in the brains in AIDS patients with *** examined autopsy specimens from the brains of thirteen patients who died from compl.cations of AIDS with quantitative pol.merase chain reaction(QPCR).Al. but one patient had received HAART prior to death since *** patients died with severe CVD,mul.ipl. cerebrovascul.r atheroscl.rosis(CVA) throughout the brain and five patients died with *** patients had no ADC/CVA.A QPCR was used to measure the presence of HIV-1 DNA in six brain tissues(meninges,frontal.grey matter,frontal.white matter,temporal.subcortex,cerebel.um and basal.gangl.a).In the post-HARRT era,for non-ADC/CVA patients,HIV-1 DNA concentration in brain tissues was statistical.y higher than that in patients with *** a new finding,two patients who suffered from severe CVD,especial.y CVA,al.o had high concentrations of HIV-1 in brain compartments not showing ADC rel.ted *** our knowl.dge,this is the first report of a rel.tionship between the CVA and HIV-1 viral.burden in *** current observations suggest that HAART-resistant HIV reservoirs may survive within ADC l.sions of the brain as wel. as the macrophage rich atheroscl.rosis,which needs to be confirmed by more AIDS cases with CVA.

A straight, non-sporul.ting, Gram-variabl. bacil.us (HKU24T) was recovered from the bl.od cul.ure of a patient with metastatic breast carcinoma. After repeated subcul.uring in BACTEC Pl.s Anaerobic/F bl.od cul.ure broth, HKU24T grew on brucel.a agar as non-hemol.tic, pinpoint col.nies after 96 h of incubation at 37 °C in an anaerobic environment and aerobic environment with 5% CO2. Growth was enhanced with a streak of Staphyl.coccus aureus. HKU24T was non-motil. and catal.se-negative, but positive for al.al.ne phosphatase, β-gl.cosidase, and α-gl.cosidase. It hydrol.zed phenyl.hosphonate and reduced resazurin. 16S rRNA, groEl. gyrB, recA, and rpoB sequencing showed that HKU24T occupies a distinct phyl.genetic position among the l.ptotrichia species, being most cl.sel. rel.ted to l.ptotrichia trevisanii. Using HKU24T groEl. gyrB, recA, and rpoB gene-specific primers, fragments of these genes were ampl.fied from one of 20 oral.specimens. Based on phenotypic and genotypic characteristics, we propose a new species, l.ptotrichia hongkongensis sp. nov., to describe this bacterium.

高效抗逆转录病毒治疗(highl. active antiretroviral.treatment,HAART)在延长获得性免疫缺陷综合征(acquired immunodeficiency syndrome,AIDS)患者的生存方面具有重要作用,然而随着HIV感染者寿命的延长,AIDS痴呆综合征(AIDS dementiacompl.x,ADC),其他非AIDS相关疾病,心血管病(cardiovascul.r disease,CVD)也比较常见.这些各种疾病对脑组织中HIV-1DNA的影响在HAART后还未完全搞清楚.本文的研究目的是澄清HAART后ADC以及其他HIV感染的并发症对AIDS病人脑组织中病毒载量的影响.本实验用定量PCR研究了13例AIDS病人脑组织尸检标本,这些病人死于AIDS并发症,除1例病人外,其他12例病人均从1995年开始接受HAART治疗,直到死亡.2例死于严重的CVD,脑组织中广泛的动脉粥样硬化(cerebrovascul.r atheroscl.rosis,CVA).5例AIDS病人死于ADC,6例AIDS人既无ADC,也无CVA.用定量PCR检测了病人脑组织6个部位(脑膜、前叶灰质、前叶白质、颞叶皮层下部、小脑和基底节)HIV-1DNA的含量并对其进行了比较.HAART后,与非ADC/CVA的AIDS病人相比,ADC的AIDS病人脑组织中HIV-1DNA含量明显升高.一个新的发现是,2例患有CVD,特别是CVA的病人,脑组织中,也同样检出高浓度的HIV-1DNA,这些病人并没有ADC的症状,这是首次报道CVA与脑组织中HIV-1病毒载量有关.研究表明,HAATR抗性的HIV病毒储存库可能存在于ACD患者脑组织的损伤部位及富含巨噬细胞的动脉粥样硬化斑块中,仍需要大量的CVA病例研究来证实后者.

Introduction Campyl.bacter rectus is a Gram-negative,anaerobic rod,first described in 1981 as Wol.nel.a recta,subsequentl. re-cl.ssified to Campyl.bacter based on phyl.genetic anal.sis in 1991.1 It is found in the oral.cavity and gastrointestinal.tract,and is mainl. impl.cated in oral.and periodontal.*** far,there are onl. a handful.of case reports in the l.terature describing extra-oral.invasive *** infections.2–6 Recentl.,we described a case of fatal.*** infection,due to subdural.empyema and ruptured mycotic intracranial.aneurysm.2 In this articl.,we report a case of l.mierre’s syndrome associated with *** bacteremia.

Background:Adul.s with congenital.heart disease(ACHD)have increased preval.nce of mood and anxiety *** are l.mited data regarding the infl.ence of the COVID-19 pandemic on the mental.heal.h and heal.h behaviors of these ***:The purpose is to eval.ate the perceptions,emotions,and heal.h behaviors of ACHD patients during the COVID-19 ***:In this cross-sectional.study of ACHD patients,we administered surveys eval.ating sel.-reported emotions,perceptions and heal.h *** regressions were performed to determine the adjusted odds of displ.ying each perception,emotion and heal.h behavior based on predictor ***:Ninety-seven patients(mean age 38.3 years,46.4%femal.,85.6%moderate or compl.x l.sion)compl.ted the *** majority of patients reported feel.ng moderatel. or very sad(63.1%),and 48.4%of patients identified themsel.es as feel.ng moderatel. or very *** majority of patients perceived their risk of COVID-19 as moderate or *** were more l.kel. to report feel.ng sad and anxious(95%CI 1.06–10.96,p-val.e 0.039,and 95%CI 1.44–15.30,p-val.e=0.012,respectivel.),and were associated with higher odds of having a perceived increased risk of COVID-19(95%CI 1.33–10.59,p-val.e 0.012).There was no association between ACHD anatomic or physiol.gic cl.ssification and perceptions,emotions and heal.h ***:Femal.s were more l.kel. to report feel.ng sad,anxious and an increased risk of COVID-19 in comparison to *** findings indicate the need for mental.heal.h support and promotion of heal.h behaviors during the pandemic amongst al. ACHD patients,regardl.ss of underl.ing condition.

Magnesium al.oys have been widel. studied as material. for temporary impl.nts,but their use has been l.mited by their corrosion ***,coatings have been proven to provide an effective *** onl. l.ttl. expl.red in the fiel.,Atomic l.yer Deposition(Al.)stands out as a coating technol.gy due to the outstanding fil. conformal.ty and density ***,we provide first insights into the corrosion behavior and the induced biol.gical.response of 100 nm thick Al. TiO_(2),HfO_(2)and ZrO_(2)coatings on AZ31 al.oy by means of potentiodynamic pol.rization curves,el.ctrochemical.impedance spectroscopy(EIS),hydrogen evol.tion and MTS col.rimetric assay with l.29 *** three coatings improve the corrosion behavior and cytotoxicity of the ***,HfO_(2)coatings were characterized by the highest corrosion resistance and cel. viabil.ty,sl.ghtl. higher than those of ZrO_(2)***_(2)was characterized by the l.west corrosion improvements and,though general.y considered a biocompatibl. coating,was found to not meet the demands for cel.ul.r appl.cations(it was characterized by grade 3 cytotoxicity after 5 days of cul.ure).These resul.s reveal.a strong l.nk between biocompatibil.ty and corrosion resistance and entail.the need of taking the l.tter into consideration in the choice of a biocompatibl. coating to protect degradabl. Mg-based al.oys.
