Paper Analytical device for the Colourimetric detection of Alkaline Phosphatase in Serum and Saliva

A paper analytical device (PAd) was developed for the colourimetric estimation of alkaline phosphatase (AlP). AlP catalyzes the hydrolysis of disodium phenyl phosphate (dSPP) to phenol, which then undergoes oxidative coupling with4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) producing a reddish brown-coloured quinone imine. The colourimetric reaction tested in solution has been translated onto a PAd for the point of care (PoC) testing of AlP. A uniform colour was obtained in 25 min with the introduction of AlP onto the reagent drop cast paper device. The images obtained by scanning the PAd were processed using ImageJ software. The colour intensity obtained by image processing was proportional to the concentration of AlP present in the sample. AlP in serum and saliva samples were tested using the PAd in the range of 0 to 528 U/l and0 to 187 U/l, respectively. The interference studies revealed that the PAd was selective to AlP in the presence of other biomolecules. The PAd exhibited a limit of detection (lOd) of 3.3 U/l and a sensitivity of 48.36 a.u/log(U/l) for serum AlP and lOd of 1.69 U/l and a sensitivity of 28.5 a.u/log (U/l) for salivary AlP. The PAd showed good agreement with the clinical methods for real samples.

A study of the inelastic scattering of neutrons with an energy of 14.1 Mev on the nuclei of oxygen,phosphorus,and sulfur was performed at the TANGRA facility at JINR(dubna).The experiment aimed to refine existing data and obtain new data on the yields and angular distributions ofγ-quanta emitted by the studied nuclei due to neutron-induced nuclear reactions using the tagged neutron *** types of detector systems were used to registerγ-***γ-ray yields were measured using a high-purity germanium(HPGe)*** angular distributions ofγ-rays were obtained using a system of 18 scintillation detectors based on bismuth germanite Bi_(4)Ge_(3)O_(12)(BGO)located around the *** performed experiments measured the yields of two transitions for the reaction of tagged neutrons with 16O,nine transitions for the reaction with ^(31)P,and nine transitions for the reaction with ^(32)S for the first *** angular anisotropy of theγ-radiation accompanying the inelastic scattering of neutrons with an energy of 14.1 Mev on ^(31)P nuclei was also measured for the first time.

Conservative management of spinal pathology with autologous conditioned serum: A systematic review of the literature

BACKGROUNd Chronic inflammatory pain is associated with increased expression of interleukin(Il)-1,an inflammatory cytokine,and activity on its receptor(Il-1R).In response,the body produces Il-1R antagonist(Il-1Ra)to reduce this *** conditioned serum(ACS)is the only biologic therapy for spinal pathologies that enhances the action of endogenous Il-1Ra reserves to improve *** systematic review investigates the effectiveness of ACS in treating pain and dis-ability caused by spinal *** To evaluate the use of ACS as a conservative management option for spinal *** A systematic review of PubMed/Medline was performed to identify studies inve-stigating administration of ACS for treatment of any spinal *** Six articles were included,comprising 684 patients treated with epidural(n=133)or transforaminal(n=551)ACS *** had an average age of 54.0 years with slight female predominance(53.2%).The lumbar spine was most com-monly treated,with 567 patients(82.9%)receiving injections for lumbar radicu-lopathy(n=67),degenerative disc disease(ddd)(n=372),or spinal stenosis(n=128);cervical injections were performed in 109 patients(15.9%).Mean(Sd)follow-up was 21.7(4.8)weeks from first ACS *** studies investigating mecha-nical lumbar and lumbar or cervical radicular pain reported significant pain re-duction at final follow-up compared to *** achieved comparable or su-perior results to lumbar epidural steroid *** events were reported in 21 patients(3.1%),with no serious adverse *** ACS injection is a safe and effective intervention for pain reduction in many spinal pathologies,including cervical and lumbar radiculopathies.

BaTiO3 solid solutions co-doped with Gd3+ and Eu3+:Synthesis,structural evolution and dielectric properties

In this paper,the synthesis,structural evolution,and dielectric properties of BaTiO3solid solutions codoped with rare earth elements(Gd3+and Eu3+) prepared using the solid-state reaction method are *** pure precursor powders of BaCl3,TiO2,Gd2O3,and Eu2O3were mixed in stoichiometric proportions,ground in an agate mortar before being uniaxially pressed at 250 MPa and sintered at 1300℃ in air atmosphere for 6 h to obtain Ba1-3xGd2xTi1-3xEu4xO3（x=0,0.0015,0.01 and0.1）.X-ray diffraction（XRd） and Rietveld's refinement results reveal the crystal phase ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO3for the samples with x=0,0.0015 and 0.01, as well as a consistent increment in the lattice parameters caused by the *** solubility limit of Gd3+and Eu3+in the BaTiO3structure is reached for the sample with x>0.01,and the orthorhombic Eu2TiO5and monoclinic BaTi2O5secondary phases were *** Raman results show the characteristic peaks of ferroelectric tetragonal BaTiO3around 716 cm-1（lO of A1 symmetry）,515 cm-1（TO of A1 symmetry）,and 305 cm-1（B1）.The maximum relative permittivity measured at 1 kHz was recorded to be 6151.8 for the sample with x=0.0015,and a decrease in the Curie temperature to 105℃ with respect to the undoped sample was *** punctual microanalysis for the samples with x=0.0015,0.01,and 0.1 reveals grains composed of Ba,Ti,O,Gd,and Eu homogeneously distributed in the *** Ba/Ti ratios for samples with x=0.0015,0.01 and 0.1 are 2.86,2.91,and 0.68,respectively,indicating substitution at the Ti site for samples with x=0.0015 and 0.01 and a substitution at the Ba site for the sample with x=0.1.

Plasma electrolytic formation and characterization of MnWO_(4)/WO_(3) film heterostructures

MnWO_(4)/WO_(3) p-n heterojunction films were fabricated using a one-step method consisting of the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)of titanium in homogeneous electrolytes containing paratungstate ions and stable watersoluble EdTA-chelated *** influences of the formation current density and W:Mn molar ratio of the electrolyte,which was varied from 1:2 to 2:1,on the composition,morphology,and optical and photocatalytic properties of the resulting coatings were studied.X-ray diffraction analysis,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive X-ray analysis,Raman spectroscopy,and ultraviolet diffuse reflectance spectroscopy were used to characterize the formed *** of the W:Mn ratio of the electrolyte,the coatings contained crystalline t-WO_(3) and m-MnWO_(4).depending on the formation conditions,the optical band gap energies of the composites varied from 2.63 to 3.01 *** largest absorption red shift and lowest band gap energy were observed in the film composite formed in an electrolyte with W:Mn=2:1,at a current density of 0.2 A cm^(−2).Composites obtained in electrolytes with W:Mn ratios of 2:1 and 1:1 exhibited photocatalytic activity in the degradation of rhodamine C and methyl orange dyes in the presence of 10 mmol l^(–1) H2O_(2) under ultraviolet and visible light *** role of hydrogen peroxide in this dye degradation on PEO-coated composites under light irradiation is discussed.
