Tree canopies influence atmospheric pollutant depositions depending on type,ecosystem characteristics,and local climatic *** study investigated the impact of Pinus sylvestris *** Picea abies(l.)***.,and a mixture of both,on the chemical composition of *** permanent plots within the ICP forest level Ⅱ monitoring network in lithuania were selected to illustrate typical hemiboreal coniferous *** study analysed(1)the concentrations of NO_(2),NH_(3) and SO_(2) in the ambi-ent air;(2)the concentrations of SO_(4)^(2−),NO_(3)^(−),NH_(4)^(+),Na^(+),K^(+),Ca^(2+) and Cl^(-) in throughfall beneath canopies and in precipitation collected in an adjacent field,and(3)S and total N,Na^(+),K^(+),Ca^(2+)and Cl−depositions in throughfall and precipitation over *** show a signifi-cant decrease in SO_(2) emissions in the ambient air;NO_(2) and NH_(3) emissions also *** canopies reduced the acidity of throughfall,although they led to notably higher concentrations of SO_(4)^(2−),NO_(3)^(−),Na^(+),and particularly K^(+).During the study,low variability in NO_(3)^(-)deposition and a decrease in NH_(4)^(+)deposition *** loads increased by 20-30%when precipitation passed through the *** cumulative deposition of S,Cl,Na,K,Ca,and N was greater under *** than under ***-ever,K deposition in throughfall was considerably lower under *** compared to the *** or mixed *** S depositions declined across all three coniferous ***,there was no specific effect of tree species on throughfall chemistry.

Species of the ciliate class Heterotrichea Stein,1859 are a cosmopolitan group of unicellular eukaryotic microorganisms,many of which have been widely used as models in various fields of research such as regenerative biology,functional ecol-ogy,environmental toxicology,and symbiotic ***,species identification in the heterotrich family Condylos-tomatidae,especially the most species-rich and type genus Condylostoma Bory de Saint-Vincent,1824,remains challenging due to incomplete original descriptions,few reliable distinguishing characters,and overlapping features between different *** study presents an updated revision of Condylostoma and its related genus Condylostomides da Silva Neto,1994 based on descriptions of five species,including nine populations collected from China,using both morphological and molecular *** main findings are as follows:(1)43 nominal species and about 130 populations are reviewed,result-ing in the recognition of 30 valid species of Condylostoma and eight valid species of Condylostomides;(2)keys,synonyms,biogeographic distributions and amended/improved diagnoses of all valid species are provided;(3)based on the available data,four new Condylostoma species(*** ***.,*** ***.,*** ***.,and *** ***.),one new combination(Condylostomides minimus(Dragesco,1954)***.&***.),and two corrected names(Condylostoma ancestrale Villeneuve-Brachon,1940 *** Condylostomides nigrus(Dragesco,1960)***.)are suggested;(4)cryptic species are detected and proposed for the first time to form the Condylostoma curvum spe-cies complex;(5)three highly confusing Condylostoma species,***,***,and ***,are redefined for the first time based on modern taxonomic methods;(6)a‘flagship’species,Condylostomides coeruleus,is recorded for the first time from the continent of Asia,substantially expanding its biogeography;(7)ciliature adjacent to the distal end of the paroral mem

Risk Factors for Neonatal Mortality at the Institute of Nutrition and Child Health of the Donka/Guinea-Conakry National Hospital

Introduction: The birth of a baby is a moment of joy and celebration. However, the neonatal period is a very delicate phase of life. Neonatal mortality rates remain high in low-income countries. In Guinea, after 20 years, this rate has fallen from 34.2% in 1998 to 32% in 2018. Objective: To identify the main risk factors for neonatal mortality. Methods: This was an observational, analytical case-control study, lasting 6 months from January 1 to June 30, 2019, conducted at the Institut de Nutrition et de la Santé de l’Enfant (INSE) at Donka National Hospital. Results: We collected 242 cases and 242 controls, i.e. a total of 484 records. 748 patients were registered, with 32.35% deaths. 82.86% of deaths occurred in the early neonatal period. Statistical analysis revealed the main risk factors: prematurity (RQ 7.39 95% CI 3.27 - 16.61 p = 0.0000003), hypothermia (RQ 2.29 95% CI 1.51 - 3.46 p = 0.0001), acute fetal distress (RQ 2.13 95% CI 1.33 - 3.43 p = 0.0016), low birth weight (QR 1.91 95% CI 1.12 - 3.24 p = 0.016), home birth (QR 3.26 95% CI 1.25 - 8.46 p = 0.015). Conclusion: Neonatal mortality is a health problem in the INSE neonatology department. To reduce the mortality rate in this referral facility, it is essential to equip it and provide ongoing training for staff.

Patterns of Chromatin-Modifications Discriminate Different Genomic Features in Arabidopsis

Dynamic regulation and packaging of genetic information is achieved by the organization of DNA into chromatin. Nucleosomal core histones, which form the basic repeating unit of chromatin, are subject to various post-translational modifications such as acetylation, methylation, phosphorylation, and ubiquitinylation. These modifications have effects on chromatin structure and, along with DNA methylation, regulate gene *** goal of this study was to determine if patterns in modifications were related to different categories of genomic features, and, if so, if the patterns had predictive value. In this study, we used publically available data（ChIP-chip）for different types of histone modifications（methylation and acetylation） and for DNA methylation for Arabidopsis thaliana and then applied a machine learning based approach（a support vector machine） to demonstrate that patterns of these modifications are very different among different kinds of genomic feature categories（protein, RNA,pseudogene, and transposon elements）. These patterns can be used to distinguish the types of genomic *** methylation and H3K4me3 methylation emerged as features with most discriminative power. From our analysis on Arabidopsis, we were able to predict 33 novel genomic features, whose existence was also supported by analysis of RNA-seq experiments. In summary, we present a novel approach which can be used to discriminate/detect different categories of genomic features based upon their patterns of chromatin modification and DNA methylation.

The carbon and nickel oxide/carbon composite electrodes were prepared by plasma jet and magnetron sput-tering techniques. The investigations were performed to evaluate the influence of the Ar/C2H2 ratio on the specific capacitance values of carbon and NiO/carbon electrodes. The obtained electrodes were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, Raman scattering spectroscopy （RS）, and X-ray diffraction techniques. The surface of the carbon electrodes became less porous and more homogenous with increasing Ar/C2H2. The RS results indicated that the fraction of the sp2 carbon sites increased with increasing Ar/C2H2 ratio. The increase of the Ar/C2H2 ratio increased the capacitance values from 0.73 up to 3.8 F/g. Meanwhile, after the deposition of the nickel oxide on the carbon, the capacitance increased ten and more times and varied in the range of 7.6-86.1 F/g.

Scots pine(Pinus sylvestris l.)is a dominant tree species on nutrient-poor sandy soils in the Baltic region’s hemiboreal forests.A final clear-cut in commercial stands is a common ***,the maintenance of relatively stable vegetation indices and ecological processes throughout the rotation promote new scientific and social ***,clear-cuttings disturb forest functions for a certain period,i.e.,phytocenoses with forest-based species composition,biodiversity,and vegetation *** organic carbon(SOC)and nutrients can also be *** key indices,ground vegetation,SOC and main nutrients in the forest floor and in 40-cm topsoil layer were analysed in the clear-cuttings(not reforested)and in reforested 10-,30-,and 101-year-old Scots pine stands in *** results show an increase in species richness at the beginning of stand formation up to 30 years after clear-cutting;species typical of a mature forest occurred relatively quickly *** mean mass of forest floor vegetation was negatively related to the richness of ground vegetation *** floor p H consequently decreased with stand *** SOC levels were in the mature *** the mineral topsoil layers,total SOC and total nitrogen were in the upper 10-cm layer in the 30-year-old stand.A post-harvest peak in mineral N concentration was observed and other nutrients,especially mobile PO,KO,Caand Mg,increased the clear-cuttings and in the 10-year-old stand compared to the mature stand.
