Methods of seawater desalination and carbon dioxide(CO_(2))reduction using clean and renewable energy have attracted much attention withing the reducing fresh water and growing CO_(2)***,we propose a synergistic method for solardriven desalination and CO_(2)reduction at the surface of sea using a three-dimensional titanium oxide-gold semiconductor/metal(TiO_(2)-Au NW/NPs(NW:nanowire,NP:nanoparticle))photothermal conversion membrane that can efficiently harvest a broad solar spectrum(200 to 2500 nm,94%)to undertake the conversion of light-to-heat and *** TiO_(2)-Au NW/NPs membrane demonstrated a high solar vapor conversion efficiency of~90%,CO_(2)reduction yields of 0.066μmol·cm^(-2)CH_(4)and 0.015μmol·cm^(-2)CO within 5 *** addition,the membrane efficiently evaporated seawater with different salt concentrations to produce drinking water which meet World Health Organization(WHO)and US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)*** work provides an integrated solution for solar desalination and CO_(2)reduction at the surface of sea to reduce the harm to marine life caused by ocean acidification while producing pure water.

目的本文對全膝關節置換術後病人硬膜外單次給予嗎啡的鎮痛效果進行了研究。方法研究資料來自澳門鏡湖醫院,2021年4月~2022年8月60例全膝關節置換手術病人隨機分到試驗組(腰硬聯合麻醉:單次蛛網膜下腔注射0.5%布比卡因2-3ml+硬膜外注射嗎啡2mg)和對照組(單次蛛網膜下腔注射0.5%布比卡因2~3ml),兩組患者術中均行關節周圍浸潤。記錄患者術後0~6h、6~12h、12~24h、24~36h、36~48h的NRS(numerical rating scale)疼痛評分以及是否發生瘙癢、尿瀦留、噁心嘔吐、呼吸抑制。結果與對照組相比,試驗組術後48小時内NRS評分≧4分發生率較低(20.0%[6/30]vs.46.7%[14/30]P=0.028),試驗組尿瀦留發生率高於對照組(36.7%[11/30]vs.6.7%[2/30]P=0.005)。結論硬膜外小劑量嗎啡可以減少全膝關節置換術後病人中至重度疼痛發生率,但病人術後尿瀦留風險增加。

New Optimization Method, the Algorithms of Changes, for Heat Exchanger Design

Heat exchangers are widely used in the process engineering such as the chemical industries, the petroleum industries, and the HVAC applications etc. An optimally designed heat exchanger cannot only help the optimization of the equipment size but also the reduction of the power consumption. In this paper, a new optimization approach called algorithms of changes (AOC) is proposed for design and optimization of the shell-tube heat exchanger. This new optimization technique is developed based on the concept of the book of changes (I Ching) which is one of the oldest Chinese classic texts. In AOC, the hexagram operations in I Ching are generalized to binary string case and an iterative process, which imitates the I Ching inference, is defined. Before applying the AOC to the heat exchanger design problem, the new optimization method is examined by the benchmark optimization problems such as the global optimization test functions and the travelling salesman problem (TSP). Based on the TSP results, the AOC is shown to be superior to the genetic algorithms (GA). The AOC is then used in the optimal design of heat exchanger. The shell inside diameter, tube outside diameter, and baffles spacing are treated as the design (or optimized) variables. The cost of the heat exchanger is arranged as the objective function. For the heat exchanger design problem, the results show that the AOC is comparable to the GA method. Both methods can find the optimal solution in a short period of time.

An ambient vibration test on a concrete bridge constructed in 1971 and calibration of its finite element model are *** bridge is characterized by a system of post-tensioned and simply supported *** dynamic characteristics of the bridge,*** frequencies,mode shapes and damping ratios were computed from the ambient vibration tests by using the Eigensystem Realization Algorithm(ERA).Then,these characteristics were used to update the finite element model of the bridge by formulating an optimization problem and then using Genetic Algorithms(GA)to solve *** the results of the ambient vibration test of this type of bridge,it is concluded that two-dimensional mode shapes exist:in the longitudinal and transverse;and these experimentally obtained dynamic characteristics were also achieved in the analytical model through *** application of GAs as optimization techniques showed great versatility to optimize any number and type of variables in the model.

BACKGROUND： Numerous studies have shown that tumor necrosis factor α （TNF-α） is closely correlated with spinal cord injury （SCI）, but the mechanisms of TNF-α and therapeutic treatments for SCI are still poorly understood. OBJECTIVE： To determine the role of TNF-α in the pathogenesis of SCI. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： An in vivo experiment based on genetically engineered animals was performed at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina, USA, between June 2007 and October 2008. MATERIAlS： TNF-α transgenic rats （Xenogen Biosciences in Cranbury, New Jersey, USA） were utilized in this study. METHODS： TNF-α transgenic （tg） and wild-type （WT） rats underwent a complete single-level laminectomy at the 10^th thoracic vertebra （T10）. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Motor function of rat hindlimb was assessed using the Basso, Beattie, and Bresnahan hindlimb locomotor rating scale. Histological evaluation of spinal cord tissue loss was conducted. Immunohistochemistry for astrocytes, microglia/macrophages, and TNF receptors （TNFRs） was performed on spinal cord tissue sections. TNF-α mRNA expression was detected by real-time polymerase chain reaction. The concentrations of nerve growth factor （NGF） and brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDNF） in the supernatant were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit for rat NGF or BDNF, respectively. The rats were injected subcutaneously with etanercept to verify that TNF-α was the direct effect of the modulation of behavioral and neurodegenerative outcomes in the TNF-α tg rats. RESUlTS： TNF-α tg rats showed higher expression of TNF-α mRNA in the spinal cord prior to SCI. TNF-α tg rats showed worse motor deficits than WT rats in the acute period （〈 3 days） after SCI （P 〈 0.01）, while in the chronic period, TNF-α tg rats exhibited persistent elevated baseline levels of TNF-α mRNA and improved recovery in motor function and tissue healing compared to WT rats （P 〈 0.01 ）. Microscopic imaging of the brain continues to reveal details of its structure, connectivity, and function. To further improve our understanding of the emergent properties and functions of neural circuits, we need to directly visualize the relationship between brain structure, neuron activity, and neurochemistry. Advances in the chemical and optical properties of nanomaterials, and developments in deep-tissue microscopy, may help to overcome the current challenges of in-vivo brain imaging, particularly when imaging the brain through optically-dense brain tissue, skull, and scalp. Developments in nanomaterials may enable the implementation of tunable chemical functionality for neurochemical targeting and sensing, and fluorescence stability for long-term imaging. In this review, we summarize the current methods used for brain microscopy and describe the diverse classes of nanomaterials recently offered as contrast agents and functional probes for microscopic optical imaging of the brain.
