Convergent morphological evolution is widespread in flowering plants,and understanding this phenomenon relies on well-resolved *** phylogenetic reconstruction using transcriptome datasets has been successful in various angiosperm groups,but it is limited to taxa with available fresh ***,which are one of the two largest angiosperm families and are important for both ecosystems and human livelihood,show multiple examples of convergent *** Asteraceae phylogenies have resolved relationships among most subfamilies and many tribes,but many phylogenetic and evolutionary questions regarding subtribes and genera remain,owing to limited ***,we increased the sampl.ng for Asteraceae phylogenetic reconstruction using transcriptomes and genome-skimming datasets and produced nuclear phylogenetic trees with 706 species representing two-thirds of recognized *** character reconstruction supports multiple convergent evolutionary events in Asteraceae,with gains and losses of bilateral floral symmetry correlated with diversification of some subfamilies and smaller groups,*** of the calyx-related pappus may have been especially important for the success of some subtribes and *** evolutionary analyses support the likely contribution of duplications of MADS-box and TCP floral regulatory genes to innovations in floral morphology,including capitulum inflorescences and bilaterally symmetric flowers,potentially promoting the diversification of *** divergences and reductions in CYC2 gene expression are related to the gain and loss of zygomorphic *** phylogenomic work with greater taxon sampl.ng through inclusion of genome-skimming datasets reveals the feasibility of expanded evolutionary analyses using DNA samples for understanding convergent evolution.

Three-year field study on grass growth and soil hydrological properties in biochar-amended soil

Field monitoring was conducted to investigate and quantify the l.ng-term effects of peanut shell biochar on soil-grass interaction over three *** 10 m5 m grassed plots were constructed in completely decomposed granitic *** of them were amended,respectively,with 5%and 10%biochar contents(m^(3)/m^(3))for grass growth,while the third was without biochar *** the threeyear monitoring,plant characteristics,saturated water permeability(k_(s))of grassed soil and soil suction were *** monitored results show that the grass leaf area index(lAI)and root l.ngth density(RlD)with biochar amendment were improved by 38%and 200%,*** the grassed plot without biochar,a threshold RlD existed with a value of 1.7 cm/cm^(3),beyond which k_(s) raised *** threshold RlD increased by 52%when biochar content increased from 0%to 10%.This implies that biochar may restrict the increase in k_(s) of grassed soil due to the rise in the threshold *** presence of biochar and grass can retain over 100%higher suction after heavy rainfalls,while 54%lower peak suction under evapotranspiration(ET)compared with the non-amended *** can alleviate the negative effects on hydraulic properties caused by plant growth and reduce ET-induced excessive water loss.A 5%peanut shell biochar content is recommended for the l.ng-term management of vegetated earthen infrastructures.

Interpretability of Neural Networks Based on Game-theoretic Interactions

This paper introduces the system of game-theoretic interactions,which connects both the explanation of knowledge encoded in a deep neural networks(DNN)and the explanation of the representation power of a *** this system,we define two gametheoretic interaction indexes,namely the multi-order interaction and the multivariate *** crucially,we use these interaction indexes to explain feature representations encoded in a DNN from the following four aspects:(1)Quantifying knowledge concepts encoded by a DNN;(2)Exploring how a DNN encodes visual concepts,and extracting prototypical concepts encoded in the DNN;(3)learning optimal baseline values for the Shapley value,and providing a unified perspective to compare fourteen different attribution methods;(4)Theoretically explaining the representation bottleneck of ***,we prove the relationship between the interaction encoded in a DNN and the representation power of a DNN(e.g.,generalization power,adversarial transferability,and adversarial robustness).In this way,game-theoretic interactions successfully bridge the gap between“the explanation of knowledge concepts encoded in a DNN”and"the explanation of the representation capacity of a DNN"as a unified explanation.

A model reduction approach for discrete-time linear time-variant systems with delayed inputs

A model reduction approach is presented for discrete-time linear time-variant input-delayed systems. According to this proposed approach, a dynamical variable is constructed by taking advantage of the current state and historical information of input. It is revealed that the behavior of this dynamical variable is governed by a discrete-time linear delay-free system. It is worth noting that the presented variable transformation does not require the system matrix to be invertible. Based on the reduced delay-free models,stabilizing control laws can be easily obtained for the original delayed system. For the case with a single input delay, the constructed variable is an exact prediction for the future state, and thus the stabilizing control law could be designed by replacing the future state with its prediction. Finally, three discrete-time periodic systems with delayed input are employed to illustrate how to utilize the presented model reduction approaches.

Optimized nitrogen application for maximizing yield and minimizing nitrogen loss in film mulching spring maize production on the loess Plateau,China

Excessive use of N fertilizers(driven by high-yield goals)and its consequent environmental problems are becoming increasingly acute in agricultural systems.A 2-year field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of three N application methods(application of solid granular urea once(OF)or twice(TF),application of solid granular urea mixed with controlled-release urea once(MF),and six N rates(0,60,120,180,240,and 300 kg N ha^(-1))on maize yield,economic benefits,N use efficiency,and soil N balance in the maize(Zea mays l.)film mulching system on the loess Plateau,*** grain yield and economic return of maize were significantly affected by the N rate and application *** with the OF treatment,the MF treatment not only increased the maize yield(increased by 9.0-16.7%)but also improved the economic return(increased by 10.9-25.8%).The agronomic N use efficiency(NAE),N partial factor productivity(NPFP)and recovery N efficiency(NRE)were significantly improved by 19.3-66.7,9.0-16.7 and 40.2-71.5%,respectively,compared with the OF *** economic optimal N rate(EONR)of the OF,TF,and MF was 145.6,147.2,and 144.9 kg ha^(-1) in 2019,and 206.4,186.4,and 146.0 kg ha^(-1) in 2020,*** apparent soil N loss at EONR of the OF,TF,and MF were 97.1-100.5,78.5-79.3,and 50.5-68.1 kg ha^(-1),*** results support MF as a one-time N application method for delivering high yields and economic benefits,with low N input requirements within film mulching spring maize system on the loess Plateau.

Optimal Strategy for Aircraft Pursuit-evasion Games via Self-play Iteration

In this paper,the pursuit-evasion game with state and control constraints is solved to achieve the Nash equilibrium of both the pursuer and the evader with an iterative self-play *** the condition where the Hamiltonian formed by means of Pontryagin’s maximum principle has the unique solution,it can be proven that the iterative control law converges to the Nash equilibrium ***,the strong nonlinearity of the ordinary differential equations formulated by Pontryagin’s maximum principle makes the control policy difficult to figured *** the system dynamics employed in this manuscript contains a high dimensional state vector with *** practical applications,such as the control of aircraft,the provided overload is ***,in this paper,we consider the optimal strategy of pursuit-evasion games with constant constraint on the control,while some state vectors are restricted by the function of the *** address the chall.nges,the optimal control problems are transformed into nonlinear programming problems through the direct collocation ***,two numerical cases of the aircraft pursuit-evasion scenario are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented method to obtain the optimal control of both the pursuer and the evader.

Infrared dust bubbles play an important role in the study of star formation and the evolution of the interstellar *** this work,we study the infrared dust bubble N75 and the infrared dark cloud G38.93 mainly using the tracers C^(18)O,HCO^(+),HNC and N_(2)H^(+)observed by the 30 m IRAM *** also study the targets using data from large-scale surveys:GlIMPSE,MIPSGAl,GRS,NRAO VlA Sky Survey and Bolocam Galactic Plane *** found that the C^(18)O emission is morphologically similar to the Spitzer IRAC 8.0μm ***1.1 mm cold dust emission of G38.93 shows an el.ngated structure from southwest to *** ionized gas from G38.93 is surrounded by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon emission,which may be excited by radiation from *** found that the identified young stellar objects tend to cluster around G38.93 and are mostly in class II with several class I cases distributed around N75,but no class II *** also found evidence of expanding feedback,which could have triggered star formation.

The initial condition of high-mass star formation is a complex area of study because of the high densities(n_(H_(2))>106cm^(-3))and low temperatures(T_(dust)lecules become depleted from the gas phase by freezing out onto dust ***,the N-bearing and deuterated species could remain gaseous under these extreme conditions,suggesting that they may serve as ideal *** this paper,using the Plateau de Bure Interferometer and Very large Array observations at 1.3 mm,3.5 mm,and 1.3 cm,we investigate the possible habitats for NH_(3),NH_(2)D,H^(13)CN,HC^(15)N,SO,and C^(18)O in eight massive precluster and protocluster clumps G18.17,G18.21,G23.97N,G23.98,G23.44,G23.97S,G25.38,and *** found that the NH3cores are in good agreement with the 3.5 mm peak emission,but the NH_(3)is much more extended than the 3.5 mm emission *** SO distributions agree well with the 3.5 mm peaks for the evolved star formation stage,but we did not detect any SO emission in the four earliest star formation sources.C^(18)O is a poor tracer in conditions of the cold(■18 K)and dense(■10^(4)cm^(-3))cores,e.g.,the prestellar *** also found that the NH_(2)D cores are mainly located in the temperature range of 13.0-20.0 K,and the NH_(2)D lines may be strongly depleted above 20 K.
