Congenital anomalies of coronary artery misdiagnosed as coronary dilatations in Kawasaki disease:A clinical predicament

BACKGROUnD 2D-echocardiography(2DE)has been the primary imaging modality in children with Kawasaki disease(KD)to assess coronary *** To report the presence and implications of incidental congenital coronary artery anomalies that had been misinterpreted as coronary artery abnormalities(CAAs)on *** Records of children diagnosed with KD,who underwent computed tomography coronary angiography(CTCA)at our center between 2013-2023 were *** identified 3 children with congenital coronary artery anomalies in this cohort on *** of CTCA and 2DE were compared in these 3 *** Of the 241 patients with KD who underwent CTCA,3(1.24%)had congenital coronary artery anomalies on CTCA detected *** all 3 patients,baseline 2DE had identified *** was then performed for detailed evaluation as per our unit ***(11-year-boy)amongst the 3 patients had complete KD,while the other two(3.3-year-boy;4-month-girl)had incomplete *** revealed separate origins of left anterior descending artery and left circumflex from left sinus[misinterpreted as dilated left main coronary artery(lCA)on 2DE],single coronary artery(interpreted as dilated lCA on 2DE)and dilated right coronary artery on 2DE in case of anomalous origin of lCA from the main pulmonary *** latter one was subsequently operated *** CTCA is essential for detailed assessment of coronary arteries in children with KD especially in cases where there is suspicion of congenital coronary artery *** solely on 2DE may not be sufficient in such cases,and findings from CTCA can significantly impact therapeutic decision-making.

Early social context does not influence behavioral variation at adulthood in ants

Early experience can prepare offspring to adapt their behaviors to the environment they are likely to encounter later in life. In several species of ants, colonies show ontogenic changes in the brood-to-worker ratio that are known to have an impact on worker morphology. However, little information is available on the influence of fluctuations in the early social context on the expression of behavior in adulthood. Using the ant lasius niger, we tested whether the brood-to-worker ratio during larval stages influenced the level of behavioral variability at adult stages. We raised batches of 20 or 180 larvae in the presence of 60 workers until adulthood. We then quantified the activity level and wall-following tendency of callow workers on 10 successive trials to test the prediction that larvae reared under a high brood-to-worker ratio should show greater behavioral variations. We found that manipulation of the brood-to-worker ratio influenced the duration of development and the size of individuals at emergence. We detected no influence of early social context on the level of between- or within-individual variation measured for individual activity level or on wall-following behavior. Our study suggests that behavioral traits may be more canalized than morphological traits.

THE EFFECT OF BOROn AnD CARBOn ADDITIOn On WElDABIlITY OF DS TMS-75 SUPERAllOY

Four alloys TMS-75 (Base), Base+B, Base+C and TMD-103 (Base+B+C) with varying levels of B, C were directionally solidified (DS), and their weldability was investigated by bead-on-plate electron beam welding. It was found that cracking occurred in the weld-metal, as well as in the heat affected zone (HAZ). Both γ/γ' and/or γ/carbide eutectic contributed to the weld-metal cracking, and the γ/γ' eutectic was found to be mainly responsible for cracking in HAZ. However, constitutional liquation of carbides seems to have made some contribution also. The B addition had a detrimental effect on HAZ cracking susceptibility, while C addition improved it appreciably even in the presence of B. In addition, no obvious differences were observed in cracking susceptibility of weld-metal in the four alloys. The cracking modes and mechanisms underlying the effect of B and C addition on weldability could be explained on the basis of microstructures of the four alloys.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the langmuir method and first-principle density functional theory(DFT).Using the langmuir-Schaefer(lS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the langmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the lS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHnS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DFT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PABA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

The role of dyadic interactions in the mixed-mating strategies of the mangrove rivulus Kryptolebias marmoratus

The mangrove rivulus Kryptolebias marmoratus a small cyprinodont fish native to tropical and subtropical waters from Florida to Brazil, is one of two known self-fertilizing, hermaphroditic vertebrates of which K. marmoratus displays androdioecy, a complex system of reproduction in which hermaphrodites and males are present. This study describes the behavioral repertoires observed during dyadic interactions in the laboratory. Kryptolebias marmoratus exhibited 23 distinctive acts or behaviors. Acts were divided into four categories： aggressive, submissive, neutral, and reproductive. leading and following behaviors played important roles in the behavioral repertoires of these fish. In hermaphrodite-male dyads, males exclusively initiated the reproductive process and actively pursued hermaphrodites. When hermaphrodites were paired, there was no evidence that they behaved like other simultaneous hermaphrodites that alternate sexual roles （e.g. serranids）. Hermaphrodites were extremely aggressive towards one another, and the aggressor established dominance rapidly. Male-male dyads were divided into two subdivisions based on the presence or absence of the caudal ocellus on one fish. A caudal ocellus on one male appeared to signal the possibility of a potential mating partner to males lacking it. Pairings of males without an ocellus were similar to hermaphrodite-hermaphrodite dyads in that both members of the pair were aggressive towards one another. These observations may be indicative of interactions taking place in natural communities or assemblages of fish in which both males and hermaphrodites occur and provide evidence on the role of dyadic interactions in the mixed-mating strategies [Current Zoology 56 （1）： 6-17, 2010].

A critical fault detection analysis & fault time in a UPFC transmission line

This paper discusses a critical study of fault detection and fault time analysis in a Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) transmission line. Here the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) approach are used for processing the faulty current signal to obtain fundamental current signal. The extracted fault current signals from the current transformer are fed to DWT and DFT approach for computing spectral energy (SE). The differential spectral energy (DSE) of phase currents are evaluated by taking the difference of SE obtained at sending and receiving end. The DSE is the key factor for deciding the fault in any of the phase or not. The Daubechy mother wavelet (db4) is used here because of its high accuracy of detection with less processing time. The novelty of the scheme is that it can accurately detect the critical fault variation of the line. number of simulations are validated at the extreme condition of the line and compared to other conventional existing scheme. Multi-phase fault in double circuit line, CT saturation, UPFC operating condition (series voltage and angle), UPFC location and wind speed variation including wind farm simulation are validated to verify the performance of the scheme. The advantages of the scheme is that it works effectively to detect the fault at any stage of critical condition of the line and fault detection time remains within 20 msec (less than one cycle period). This scheme protects both internal and external zone including parameter variation of the line.

Underutilized Plant Species in Far West nepal

Underutilized plant species help to alleviate common food insufficiencies by providing alternative food supply. They also complement primary health care, furnishing raw materials where the cultivation of staple cereal crops is least feasible and health care is pursued indigenously. Research and promotion of extraction, utilization, and conservation of underutilized species lead to exploration of new staple crops and motivate people to consume in a sustainable manner. The present study describes the current status, uses, and management of underutilized plant species in Far West nepal. The relative importance of 49 underutilized plant species was computed employing a Relative Importance (RI) technique. The use-values assigned to the species fall into six use-categories: beverage, fodder, food & edible, medicinal, vegetable and veterinary. A total of 22 species appeared in multiple use-categories, while the rest were characterized by a single use-category. Based on relative importance and frequency, Ficus semicordata, Debregesia longifolia, Girardinea diversifolia, Hydrocotyle nepalensis, Garuga pinnata, Aloe vera and Pyrus pashia offer the most potential for future. Underutilized plants proved important to folk medicine and food. These species persist because they remain useful to local people as means of subsistence, production, and primary health care. The findings are important so far as they point up the role of underutilized plants in national food security policy and health care, spelling out their potentialities and cross cutting relationships.

Comparative Analysis of the 100 kb Region Containing the Pi-k^h locus Between indica and japonica Rice lines

We have recently cloned a pathogen inducible blast resistance gene Pi-k^h from the indica rice line Tetep using a positional cloning approach. In this study, we carried out structural organization analysis of the Pi-k^h locus in both indica and japonica rice lines. A 100 kb region containing 50 kb upstream and 50 kb downstream sequences flanking to the Pi-k^h locus was selected for the investigation. A total of 16 genes in indica and 15 genes in japonica were predicted and annotated in this region. The average GC content of indica and japonica genes in this region was 53.15% and 49.3%, respectiveIy. Both indica and japonica sequences were polymorphic for simple sequence repeats having mono-, di-, tri-, tetra-, and pentanucleotides. Sequence analysis of the specific blast resistant Pi-k^h allele of Tetep and the susceptible Pi-k^h allele of the japonica rice line nipponbare showed differences in the number and distribution of motifs involved in phosphorylation, resulting in the resistance phenotype in Tetep.

Highly sensitive lC–MS/MS method to estimate doxepin and its metabolite nordoxepin in human plasma for a bioequivalence study

A selective, sensitive and rugged liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry(lC–MS/MS) assay has been developed for the simultaneous determination of doxepin(Dox) and its pharmacologically active metabolite, nordoxepin(nDox) in human plasma. The analytes and their internal standards(IS)were extracted from 500 m l of human plasma by liquid-liquid extraction using methyl tert-butyl *** separation was achieved on Hypurity C8 column(100 mm ? 4.6 mm, 5 mm) using a mixture of acetonitrile-methanol(95:5, v/v) and 2.0 mM ammonium formate in 93:7(v/v) ratio. Detection was accomplished by tandem mass spectrometry in the positive ionization and multiple reaction monitoring acquisition mode. The protonated precursor to product ion transitions studied for Dox, nDox,and their corresponding ISs, propranolol and desipramine, were m/z 280.1-107.0, 266.0-107.0,260.1-116.1 and 267.1-72.1, respectively. A linear dynamic range of 15.0–3900 pg/ml for Dox and 5.00–1300 pg/ml for nDox was established with mean correlation coefficient(r2) of 0.9991 and 0.9993, respectively. The extraction recovery ranged from 86.6%–90.4% and 88.0%–99.1% for Dox and nDox, respectively. The intra-batch and inter-batch precision(% CV) across quality control levels was r 8.3% for both the analytes. Stability evaluated under different storage conditions showed no evidence of degradation and the % change in stability samples compared to nominal concentration ranged from 4.7% to12.3%. The method was successfully applied to a bioequivalence study of 6 mg doxepin hydrochloride orally disintegrating tablet in 41 healthy Indian subjects under fasting and fed conditions.
