lower back pain is one of the most common medical problems in the world and it is experienced by a huge percentage of people *** to its ability to produce a detailed view of the soft tissues,including the spinal cord,nerves,intervertebral discs,and vertebrae,Magnetic Resonance Imaging is thought to be the most effective method for imaging the *** semantic segmentation of vertebrae plays a major role in the diagnostic process of lumbar *** is difficult to semantically partition the vertebrae in Magnetic Resonance Images from the surrounding variety of tissues,including muscles,ligaments,and intervertebral discs.U-Net is a powerful deep-learning architecture to handle the challenges of medical image analysis tasks and achieves high segmentation *** work proposes a modified U-Net architecture namely MU-Net,consisting of the Meijering convolutional layer that incorporates the Meijering filter to perform the semantic segmentation of lumbar vertebrae l1 to l5 and sacral vertebra ***-colour mask images were generated and used as ground truth for training the *** work has been carried out on 1312 images expanded from T1-weighted mid-sagittal MRI images of 515 patients in the lumbar spine MRI Dataset publicly available from Mendeley *** proposed MU-Net model for the semantic segmentation of the lumbar vertebrae gives better performance with 98.79%of pixel accuracy(PA),98.66%of dice similarity coefficient(DsC),97.36%of Jaccard coefficient,and 92.55%mean Intersection over Union(mean IoU)metrics using the mentioned dataset.

Releases of phosphate fertilizer industry in the surrounding environment:Investigation on heavy metals and polonium-210 in soil

Distribution of Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Ni, Mn concentrations and the activity of polonium-210 in the surrounding area of a phosphate fertilizer industry located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean sea has been determined. Nineteen sampling sites were distributed around the industrial zone on a surface area of about 100,000 m^2. Atomic absorption spectroscopy and Alpha spectroscopy were used to quantify the heavy elements and polonium-210, respectively. Investigation on a particle scale was conducted by TEM and sEM coupled to EDX and X-ray cartography to determine the nature of heavy elements carriers and their distribution. Heavy elements were mainly concentrated inside the particle size fraction 〈 50 μm. Their levels decreased with distance increasing from the industry. According to the reference soil, enrichment factors were about 10, 15, 32 and 100 times for Zn, Pb, Cu, and Cr, respectively inside the particle size fraction 〈 50 μm on the closest sites to the industry. The main contaminant sources were transport and storage of row materials and the free release of phosphogypsum waste. Heavy elements were entrapped inside agglomerates of sulfates, phosphates and iron oxihydroxides in a diffused shape. Polonium-210 with an enrichment factor of about 56, showed the same behavior of the spatial distribution of the trace elements.

In this paper,we report on the crystal structure and magnetic properties of the nano structured Baordered phases of rare-earth manganites obtained from the optimally doped solid solutions ln0.70Ba0.30MnO3(ln=Pr,Nd).The materials were studied by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,energy dispersive spectroscopy and sQUID-magnetometry *** is found that states with different degrees of cation ordering in the A-sublattice of the ABO3 perovskite can be obtained by employing special conditions of chemical *** particular,reduction of the parent compounds results in the formation of a nanocomposite containing ferrimagnetic anion-deficient ordered phase *** of the composite does not change an average size of the nanocrystallites,but drastically alters their phase composition to stabilize ferromagnetic stoichiometric ordered phase lnBaMn2O6 and ferromagnetic superstoichiometric disordered phase ln0.90Ba0.10MnO3+δ.It is shown that the magnetic properties of the materials are determined by the joint action of chemical(cation ordering)and external(surface tension)pressures.

We present a theoretical study of the magnetic properties of the lanthanum copper manganate double perovskite la2CuMnO6 ceramic,using Monte Carlo *** analyze and discuss the ground state phase diagrams in different planes to show the effect of every physical *** on the Monte Carlo simulations,which combine Metropolis algorithm and Ising model,we explore the thermal behavior of the total magnetization and *** also present and discuss the influence of physical parameters such as the external magnetic field,the exchange coupling interactions between magnetic atoms,and the exchange magnetic field on the magnetization of the ***,the critical temperature of the system is about Tc=70 K,in agreement with the experimental ***,the hysteresis loops of la2CuMnO6 are discussed.

Nowcasting and forecasting solar irradiance are vital for the optimal prediction of grid-connected solar photovoltaic(Pv)power *** plants face operational challenges and scheduling dispatch difficulties due to the fluctuating nature of their power *** the generation capacity within the electric grid increases,accurately predicting this output becomes increasingly essential,especially given the random and non-linear characteristics of solar irradiance under variable weather *** study presents a novel prediction method for solar irradiance,which is directly in correlation with Pv power output,targeting both short-term and medium-term forecast *** proposed hybrid framework employs a fast trainable statistical learning technique based on the truncated-regularized kernel ridge regression *** proposed method excels in forecasting solar irradiance,especially during highly intermittent weather periods.A key strength of our model is the incorporation of multiple historical weather parameters as inputs to generate accurate predictions of future solar irradiance values in its scalable *** evaluated the performance of our model using data sets from both cloudy and sunny days in seattle and Medford,UsA and compared it against three forecasting models:persistence,modified 24-hour persistence and least *** on three widely accepted statistical performance metrics(root mean squared error,mean absolute error and coefficient of determination),our hybrid model demonstrated superior predictive accuracy in varying weather conditions and forecast horizons.

Does salinity change determine zooplankton variability in the saline Qarun lake(Egypt)?

Zooplankton and 14 abiotic variables were studied during August 2011 at 10 stations in lake Qarun, Egypt. stations with the lowest salinity and highest nutrient concentrations and turbidity were close to the discharge of waters from the el-Bats and E1-Wadi drainage systems. A total of 15 holozooplankton species were identified. The salinity in lake Qarun increased and fluctuated since 1901：12 g/l in 1901; 8.5 g/l in 1905; 12.0 g/l in 1922; 30.0 g/l in 1985; 38.7 g/l in 1994; 35.3 g/l in 2006, and 33.4 g/l in 2011. The mean concentration of nutrients （nitrate, nitrite and orthophosphate） gradually increased from 35, 0.16 and 0.38 μg/l, respectively, in 1953-1955 to 113, 16.4, and 30.26 μg/l in 2011. From 1999-2003 some decrease of species diversity occurred. Average total zooplankton density was 30 000 ind./m^3 in 1974-1977; 356 125 ind./m^3 in 1989; 534 000 ind./m^3 in 1994-1995; from 965 000 to 1 452 000 ind./m^3 in 2006, and 595 000 ind./m^3 in 2011. A range of long-term summer salinity variability during the last decades was very similar to a range of salinity spatial variability in summer 2011. There is no significant correlation between zooplankton abundance and salinity in spatial and long-term changes. We conclude that salinity fluctuations since at least 1955 did not directly drive the changes of composition and abundance of zooplankton in the lake. A marine community had formed in the lake, and it continues to change. One of the main drivers of this change is a regular introduction and a pressure of alien species on the existent community. Eutrophication also plays an important role. The introduction ofMnemiopsis leidyi, first reported in 2014, may lead to a start of a new stage of the biotic changes in lake Qarun, when eutrophication and the population dynamics of this ctenophore will be main drivers of the ecosystem change.

Enterolactone modulates the ERK/NF-κB/snail signaling pathway in triple-negative breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231 to revert the TGF-β-induced epithelial–mesenchymal transition

Objective:Triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)is highly metastatic,and there is an urgent unmet need to develop novel therapeutic strategies leading to the new drug discoveries against *** transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β)is known to promote the invasive and migratory potential of breast cancer cells through induction of epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT)via the ERK/NF-κB/snail signaling pathway,leading to breast cancer *** this pathway to revert the EMT would be an attractive,novel therapeutic strategy to halt breast cancer ***:Effects of enterolactone(el)on the cell cycle and apoptosis were investigated using flow cytometry and a cleaved caspase-3 enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(elIsA),*** of TGF-βinduction and el treatment on the functional malignancy of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells were investigated using migration and chemo-invasion *** effects of el on EMT markers and the ERK/NF-κB/snail signaling pathway after TGF-βinduction were studied using confocal microscopy,quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(q RT-PCR),Western blot,and flow ***:Herein,we report that el exhibits a significant antimetastatic effect on MDA-MB-231 cells by almost reverting the TGF-β-induced EMT in *** downregulates the mesenchymal markers N-cadherin and vimentin,and upregulates the epithelial markers E-cadherin and *** represses actin stress fiber formation via inhibition of mitogen-activated protein kinase p-38(MAPK-p38)and cluster of differentiation 44(CD44).el also suppresses ERK-1/2,NF-κB,and snail at the m RNA and protein ***:Briefly,el was found to inhibit TGF-β-induced EMT by blocking the ERK/NF-κB/snail signaling pathway,which is a promising target for breast cancer metastasis therapy.

We study the magnetic properties of the double perovskite ruthenate compound sr2YRuO6 using Monte Carlo simulations(MCs).We elaborate the ground state phase diagrams for all possible and stable *** magnetizations and the susceptibilities as a function of temperature for the studied system are also *** effects of the exchange coupling interactions and the crystal field are examined and *** the other hand, since the compound sr2YRuO6 exhibits an antiferromagnetic behavior, we find its Néel temperature, TN≈ 31 K, which is in good agreement with the experimental results in the *** complete this study, the hysteresis loops and the coercive field as a function of the external magnetic field are also obtained for fixed values of the physical parameters.

Chitosan conduits enriched with fibrin-collagen hydrogel with or without adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells for the repair of 15-mm-long sciatic nerve defect

Hollow conduits of natural or synthetic origins have shown acceptable regeneration results in short nerve gap repair;however,results are still not comparable with the current gold standard technique“autografts”.Hollow conduits do not provide a successful regeneration outcome when it comes to critical nerve gap *** the lumen of conduits with different extracellular materials and cells could provide a better biomimicry of the natural nerve regenerating environment and is expected to ameliorate the conduit *** this study,we evaluated nerve regeneration in vivo using hollow chitosan conduits or conduits enriched with fibrin-collagen hydrogels alone or with the further addition of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells in a 15 mm rat sciatic nerve transection *** changes in the hydrogel consistency and structural stability in vivo led to a failure of nerve regeneration after 15 ***,the molecular assessment in the early regeneration phase(7,14,and 28 days)has shown an upregulation of useful regenerative genes in hydrogel enriched conduits compared with the hollow *** composed of fibrin-collagen were able to upregulate the expression of soluble NRG1,a growth factor that plays an important role in schwann cell *** further enrichment with adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells has led to the upregulation of other important genes such as ErbB2,vEGF-A,BDNF,c-Jun,and ATF3.
