Spinal cord injury remains a major cause of disability in young adults,and beyond acute decompression and rehabilitation,there are no pharmacological treatments to limit the progression of injury and optimize recovery in this *** the thorough investigation of the complement system in triggering and propagating cerebral neuroinflammation,a similar role for complement in spinal neuroinflammation is a focus of ongoing *** this work,we survey the current literature investigating the role of complement in spinal cord injury including the sources of complement proteins,triggers of complement activation,and role of effector functions in the *** study relevant data demonstrating the different triggers of complement activation after spinal cord injury including direct binding to cellular debris,and or activation via antibody binding to damage-associated molecular *** effector functions of complement have been implicated in spinal cord injury,and we critically evaluate recent studies on the dual role of complement anaphylatoxins in spinal cord injury while emphasizing the lack of pathophysiological understanding of the role of opsonins in spinal cord *** this pathophysiological review,we systematically review the different translational approaches used in preclinical models of spinal cord injury and discuss the challenges for future translation into human *** review emphasizes the need for future studies to dissect the roles of different complement pathways in the pathology of spinal cord injury,to evaluate the phases of involvement of opsonins and anaphylatoxins,and to study the role of complement in white matter degeneration and regeneration using translational strategies to supplement genetic models.

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(Simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

2D CFD Analysis and Experimental Analysis on the Effect of Hub to Tip Ratios on the Performance of 0.6 m Impulse Turbine

The objective of this paper is to present the performance comparison of 2D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis with experimental analysis of 0.6 m impulse turbine with fixed guide vanes for both 0.6 and 0.7 hub to tip ratio (H/T). Also the comparison of 2D CFD analysis of the said turbine with different values of H/T ranging from 0.5 to 0.7. A 2D-cascade model was used for CFD analysis while uni-directional steady flow was used for experimental analysis. The blade and guide vane geometries are based on 0.6 m rotor diameter, with optimum profile, and different H/T of 0.5, 0.6 and 0.7. It was concluded from 2D CFD analysis that 0.5 H/T ratio performances was higher than that of 0.6 and 0.7 H/T at peak efficiency and the operational flow range for 0.5 H/T was found to be wider than that of 0.6 and 0.7 H/T ratio.

Use of breakthrough experiment to evaluate the performance of hydrogen isotope separation for metal-organic frameworks m-mOF-74(m=Co, Ni, mg, Zn)

The unique adsorption performance of metal-organic frameworks(mOFs) indicates a new direction for gas separation and purification. The low-temperature distillation, as a traditional technique for hydrogen isotope separation, is limited as it is a high energy-and cost-intensive process. Instead of utilizing such a conventional separation route, we use ordered microporous frameworks based on a physical adsorption mechanism to solve the challenge of hydrogen isotope separation. Herein we analyze m-mOF-74(m=Co, Ni, mg, Zn), featuring a hexagonal channel about 11 ? and high density of open metal sites, for their ability to separate and purify deuterium from the hydrogen isotope mixture by dynamic column breakthrough experiments. Our results show that the combination of the strength of binding sites, density of coordinatively unsaturated metal sites and hydrogen isotope adsorption capacity of materials renders Co-mOF-74 as an optimal adsorbent for the capture of deuterium from hydrogen isotope mixtures in a simulated industrial process.

BACKGROUND Hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection and its consequent complications are undeniably a public health burden worldwide,particularly in *** evidence suggests that many lncRNAs have relevant roles in viral infections and antiviral *** To investigate the expression profiles of circulating lncRNAGAS5,lncRNAHEIH,lncRNABISPR and mRNABST2 in naïve,treated and relapsed HCV Egyptian patients,to elucidate relation to HCV infection and their efficacy as innovative biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of HCV *** One hundred and thirty HCV-infected Egyptian patients and 20 healthy controls were included in this *** lncRNAs and mRNABST2 were measured using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(qRT-PCR).RESUlTS Our results indicated that serum lncRNAGAS5 and lncRNABISPR were upregulated,whereas mRNA BST2 and lncRNA HEIH were downregulated in naïve *** contrast,HCV patients treated with sofosbuvir and simeprevir;with sofosbuvir and daclatasvir;or with sofosbuvir,daclatasvir and ribavirin exhibited lower levels of lncRNAGAS5 and lncRNABISPR with higher mRNABST2 compared to naïve ***,patients relapsed from sofosbuvir and simeprevir showed higher levels of these lncRNAs with lower mRNABST2 compared to treated ***5 and lncRNABISPR were positively correlated with viral load and AlT at PmRNABST2 was negatively correlated with viral load at PlT at Pelation between lncRNA HEIH and AFP was observed at Pl expression of these RNAs suggests their involvement in HCV pathogenesis or antiviral response and highlights their promising roles in diagnosis and prognosis of HCV.

The competitive and synergistic effect between adsorption enthalpy and capacity in D_(2)/H_(2)separation of m_(2)(m-dobdc)frameworks

Hydrogen isotope separation is a challenging task due to their similar ***,based on the chemical affinity quantum sieve(CAQS)effect,the D_(2)/H_(2)separation performance of m_(2)(m-dobdc)(m=Co,Ni,mg,mn;m-dobdc^(4-)=4,6-dioxido-1,3-benzenedicarboxylate),a series of honeycomb-shaped mOFs with high stability and abundant open metal sites,are studied by gases sorption and breakthrough experiments,in which two critical factors,gas uptake and adsorption enthalpy,are taken into *** these mOFs,Co_(2)(m-dobdc)exhibits the longest D_(2)retention time of 180 min/g(H_(2)/D_(2)/Ne:1/1/98)at 77 K because of its second-highest adsorption enthalpy(10.7 kJ/mol for H_(2)and 11.8 kJ/mol for D_(2))and the best sorption capacity(5.22 mmol/g for H_(2)and 5.49 mmol/g for D_(2))under low pressure of 1 kPa and 77 K,which make it a promising material for industrial hydrogen isotope ***,the results indicate that H_(2)and D_(2)capacities under low pressure(about 1 kPa)dominate the final D_(2)/H_(2)separation property of mOFs.

mineralogy,m-type tetrad effect and radioactivity of altered granites at the *** Garadi shear zone,central Eastern Desert,Egypt

The G. Abu Garadi area is covered mainly by metasediments, alkali feldspar granites and stream sediments. The alkali feldspar granite is traversed by a major strike-slip fault trending in an N-S direction as well as two subordinate sets of faults trending NW to WNW for the first one and NE for the second one. These faults represent the shear zones affected by magmatic (syngenetic) as well as hydrothermal (epigenetic) activities causing alteration of the granitic rocks. The most common alteration features are albitization, greisenization and koalinitization. The mass balance calculations of the studied altered samples show enrichments in Zr, Y, Ni, U, Th and Ga and depletions in Zn, Sr, Nb, Ba, Pb, Cu and V. Only the greisenized samples exhibit a significant enrichment in Nb, ∑REE budget and pronounced lanthanide tetrad effect (m-type), especially TE1,4, while weakly expressed tetrad effects are for the other albitized and koalinitized samples. mineralogically, the common accessory minerals in the altered samples include samarskite-(Y), betafite, uranothorite, zircon, fluorite and cassiterite. The greisenized granites contain high eU and eTh than the other altered types, where they are characterized by an assemblage of the radioactive minerals; samarskite-(Y), betafite, uranothorite in addition to zircon. The inter-element relationships between U and Th and also their ratios illustrate that the radioelement distribution in these granites is mainly governed by magmatic processes, in addition to post-magmatic ones. The distribution of chemical elements and the fractionation of some isovalents within the shear zone are largely controlled by the newly formed mineral phases. With respect to uranium mobilization, uranium migrated from the host alkali feldspar granites of G. Abu Garadi, while the shear zones acted as traps for the migrated uranium. moreover, U migrated in the shear zone during greisenization and albitization, and migrated out during koalinitization.

Enhancing optical absorption in visible light of ZnO co-doped with europium and promethium by first-principles study through modified Becke and Johnson potential scheme

By using first-principles calculations we studied the electronic, optical and magnetic properties of ZnO co-doped with Eu and Pm. In this calculation, we used Wien2 k code based on full potential linearized augmented plane waves(FP-lAPW) method with the modified Becke-Johnson(mBJ) approximation. This correction gives good band gap compared to experimental band gap. The introduction of Eu and Pm codoping leads to an increase in the band gap. electrons can transit easily from the valence band to the conduction band, which results in an enhancement of visible light absorption in a wider absorption range. Absorption spectra reach a high value in visible and infrared light regions. With the significance of the obtained results, the studied compounds may potentially find spintronic and optoelectronic applications.

Petrology, geochemistry, radioactivity, and m–W type rare earth element tetrads of el Sela altered granites, south eastern desert,Egypt

The southern part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt—about 30 km southwest of Abu-Ramad city—is mainly covered by ophiolitic rocks(Sul Hamed), island arc assemblage, younger granites(muscovite granites of Qash Amer and two mica granites of el Sela), and various acidic and basic dikes. Field, petrological, and geochemical studies indicate that the el Sela shear zone has been subject to hydrothermal and supergene alteration such as kaolinization, albitization, sericitization, and hematitization. It is invaded by quartz ENE–WSW veins associated with hydrothermal alteration accompanied by radioactive mineralization. The investigated younger granitic rocks had very low contents of compatible elements, such as Cr, Ni,and Co; and high contents of incompatible elements, such as Zr, and large ion lithophiles, such as Sr, especially in the el Sela shear zone. major oxide and trace element analyses revealed calc-alkaline affinity and peraluminous *** highly differentiated granitic rocks' lower Zr/Hf and higher Y/Ho than the normal ratio are consistent with hydrothermal alteration. most samples had rare earth element(REE)-patterns with an m-type tetrad effect in the first and fourth segments and a W-type tetrad in the third segment. The average ∑REE in the studied granites was lower than the world granite average; the ratio of light to heavy REEs greater. The main radioactive, uranium-bearing, and uraniferous Fe and mn minerals are uranothorite,autunite, uranophane and autunite as compounds, kasolite,columbite, xenotime, uranophane-bearing zircon and jarosite, silver-bearing pyrite, hematite, and autunite-bearing pyrolusite.
